Chapter 3 The engagement party

The  sunrays were peeping inside the room, Aarohi was still sleeping in her bed. Suddenly her alarm went on and she woke up with a jerk. When she notices her surroundings, the realization hit her that she is in Nainital not in Pune. Aarohi got relaxed as she was afraid to get late for the office, she enter the washroom for her morning routine.

After having her relaxing shower she opened her luggage and wear a simple Kurti plazo set with a matching sweater and shawl, as its the wintertime. Aarohi is going to enjoy the snowfall of Nainital after a long time. In Pune, she use to miss the weather, the mountains and the peaceful environment. , It's not that she is regretting shifting to Pune as she gave more importance to her self respect and inner peace, so no regrets. Her hairs were wet so she left them open .she reached the dining room for her breakfast.

When she reached the dining table she found her dad sitting in his usual place. Triloknath smiled at her but she didnt react, he got up and hugged her like old days but she never hugged him back.

"Meri Bacchi, how are you beta ?" he asked with love 

" Good " she answered in a single word 

"Come I have made the cook make your favourite dishes. Come have it "

She nodded and got sitted on her usual place 

" Aru bua! you are back bua now we can go for a picnic " her niece pia said hugging her by putting her arms on her neck.

" No bua first we will go to see the fair which started last week " veer his nephew argued with pia while hugging arohi from her back.

Veer and pia were 8year old twins to her brother Aditya and vaidehi bhabi.

After 6 years of their marriage, they have them after facing many complications. Aarohi loved them too much as she helped her bhabhi in their childhood days ..as handling twins was not an easy job. Aarohi kissed the forehead of both the kids and hugged them tightly as she is meeting them after a long time. All the family members have tears in their eyes seeing the reunion of the kids with her favourite bua, they all know how they made lame excuses for aarohi's disappearance from the kids. 

Just then a little girl of around 2 years came and stand beside pia ., holding pia's frock and looking at aarohi with her blue eyes.

"Avni meets aru bua she is younger than asawari bua. "Pia introduced her to avni, daughter of anand and Varsha bhabhi. She was just a newborn when arohi left Nainital.

" Aroo boo " actually avni has just started speaking some words so she was not clear with her language.

Listening to her everybody laughed at Avni's words 

. A smile came to aarohi 's face she picked up the little girl in her lap and kissed her cheeks.

On which the girl  quickly rubbed her cheeks with her tiny palms and uttered cutely 

" Noo chissey ,anii doon lk" ( no kissey avni dont like ) 

Listening to her everybody smiled,arohi also smiled at her antics, she is behaving just like her.

In the evening the engagement party was organised in the seven-star hotel which belonged to vashisths. In the afternoon the close relatives started arriving at their home, aarohi was sitting in her room only, she told asawri that she will meet the good for nothing so called "relatives"  at the party so make sure that they don't disturb her in the room.

On the other hand, the relatives started asking about aarohi from the vashisth family.

Veena made an excuse for Aarohi's tiring journey, right now she is taking a rest so that she can enjoy the engagement party in the evening.

In the evening aarohi got ready in a simple Anarkali of light colour and kept her hair open, just applying a lip balm. In the name of jewellery, she was wearing her diamond studs and the gold chain on her neck.

Aarohi's look.

When she was on the way  to the car  her sister in law vaidehi rushed to her and whispered 

" Should I give you some jewellery, aarohi as you know all the relatives from our side as well as the groom's side were present there, what will they think .... just ...." 

Aarohi turned around and started going back inside the home.

" Where are you going "vaidehi panicked.

"Back to my room, as you said that people will talk about my dressing style or my jewellery. So I dont care, but I dont want to create any problem in di's marriage so it will be better if I didn't attend this party ."

"Aru I didnt mean like that I was just...",vaidehi tried to handle the situation.

"The people who care for my jewellery or my clothes more than my presence I give a damn to them, see I am going to attend this party like this only,( pointing at herself ). But if you people are ashamed of my appearance, I think it's better if I will not attend this party, so I am going back to my room"

"We care more about your presence aarohi, come let's go to the party ., bacha," Aditya said from behind them, he hold aarohi's palm in his hands and marched towards the car ., not before giving a glare at his wife.

Tears brimmed in vaidehi 's eyes as her aarohi changed so much.

After reaching the venue Aditya joined his father who was talking to the Kaul family.

"I want you all to meet our princess aarohi vashisth, the youngest one" Aditya announced to the Kaul family.

Aarohi joined her hands in namaste .,

Mrs Kaul patted her cheeks.

"Ooh my god! I didnt know that your younger daughter is a flawless beauty. Look at her she doesn't need any bright colours or an expensive jewellery to look pretty, she is a real beauty " 

Triloknath has a proud smile on his face, he patted aarohi's head lovingly.

"You know bhabhiji I will not lie, I am biased with my kids, I love aarohi more than my other kids,jaan hain meri " he disclosed with tears in his eyes. ( She is my life ). Aarohi smiled at this comment, as she knows better how they all killed .,....her soul.

Mr and Mrs Kaul nodded in agreement.

"So what do you do beta, "mr Kaul asked 

" Ji I am doing the job as a marketing head in an advertising company in Pune ". Arohi replied politely with confidence.

' Excuse me I think I should now introduce her to the groom " Aditya interrupted them and took aarohi on stage where asawari and Nitin were sitted.

"Nitin meet your sister in law my younger sister arohi " 

" Hi "Nitin offered his hand for a handshake.

" Hello "Arohi shakes her hand with him.

"So I think I got so lucky you know Aditya bhai, as to get a wife like asawari and a beautiful sister in law like aarohi" 

Aarohi smiled at his comment.

" I agree on that "Aditya also smiled at the trio ., Asawari signalled the photographer to click their photos as she knows after this wedding .. aarohi will never meet them. Asawari just wanted to cherish this moment in her memories.

After some formal chit chat,aarohi left the stage and got settled in the chair near her niece and nephew. Avni was also trying to talk with her .she was enjoying the company of the kids.

After some time the engagement was done and the photo session started. While clicking the family photos, Aditya pulled aarohi onto the stage and make her stand beside him,aarohi didn't protest as to how much she wanted to deny this but the truth is she is the part of the great vashisth family ., For the outer world at least.

After completing the photo session everybody started the dinner. Aarohi got settled with the kids on a seprate table. 

When aarohi went to take some sweet dish for Avni, a young man of almost her age crashed with her and the sweet on her hand fell on his coat.

He was shocked to see his coat drenched in sweet syrup, aarohi muttered sorry to him in a polite tone as it was her mistake.

When he looked in front to scold the girl words didnt come out of his mouth, he was watching a fairy in real. Aarohi left from there, but the boy's eyes never left her side.

so he changed his coat and went near to the beauty ., to introduce himself.

" Hi " 

She looked at him but didnt wish him back.

, "my name is Roshan gill, I am nitin's friend from delhi ."

Aarohi just kept looking at him blankly.

He again took courage and gulped the lump in his throat " may I know this beautiful girl s name," 

"Jhansi ki Rani, done, now just get lost," she said to him with a  wide smile.

Veena was witnessing this scene from nearby she was furious at aarohi's behaviour with the guest especially when it was Nitin's friend. ( Jhansi ki Rani was a queen, a freedom fighter )

when aarohi had an eyelock with Veena, she found her mother glaring at her in return she just smirked mockingly. Veena decided to talk to Aditya to control this shameless girl.

On the other hand, it was love at first sight for Roshan but listening to her answer Roshan's face dropped, as he doesn't expect this kind of reaction but he liked her attitude also. He turned back from there, Nitin was watching this with a smile he signalled Roshan to come to him( Well in first crush you like everything )

" She is my sister in law aarohi,asawari's sister "

"You mean real sisters, as from the same parents" Roshan questioned him in curiosity.

Nitin nodded in yes 

"No way yaar, Bhabhi is so sweet so quiet and she is a fireball, with so much attitude ". Roshan complained to Nitin.

Nitin shrugged his shoulders

" But I think I like her as I like spicy much, now see how I will woo my Jhansi ki, Rani, "Roshan said confidently.

Nitin showed him thumps up, asawari who was quietly listening to all this ,as she knows her sister very well.

She did a silent prayer for Roshan's well being.
