~Grayson

I don't let my eyes linger for more than it's meant to before I look away and keep them fixed on the cream walls of the room.

"What's wrong, Mr. Rodriguez? Don't you like what you see?"

From the proximity of her voice, I can tell she's coming closer by the second. I chance a look at the door to gauge how close it is but she's already in front of me, her full body on display.

I look away again, clearing my throat.

"Why are you here?"

I can imagine the surprise she would fake from her voice before she replies. "Now, come on Mr. Rodriguez. This is my house too."

I try not to snap at her but it doesn't work and in less than a minute, my voice comes out a pitch higher.

"But this is Ren's room!"

I hear her chuckle but I keep my eyes fixed on the walls.

"Ren is like a sister to me. Ever since childhood we've shared everything. Whatever is hers, is mine too. If you get my drift, Mr. Rodriguez."

I open my mouth to reply but a groan makes it's way out instead when she comes to stand in front of me. I shut my eyes for a moment, letting my head fall back on the chair.

I reopen my eyes after a minute to find that she's gotten rid of her bra. Not that it did much to cover her boobs anyways.

"Besides, what does she have that I don't?"

She's leaning on the table in front of me now, practically rubbing her rock solid breasts in my face. At this point, I can feel my dick hardening. It takes all my self-control to not push her against the table and fuck the living daylight out of her.

"I'm waiting for an answer."

Her annoying voice fills my ears again and for a moment, I remain mute. I try to keep my eyes fixed on her fox face afterwards and maintain a straight face as I speak.

"You really want to know?"

She moves her head up and down causing her blonde locks to fall all over her face.

"Well, for starters. . ."

I purse my lips, staring at her face for a moment. She seems eager to hear what I have to say so I continue, "I think the question should be what she does not have that you do."

Her brows furrow for a moment, and she stares at me with creases streaking her forehead. "And what exactly doesn't she have that I do?"

"A phony ass. She also didn't need to get a silicon implant to grow boobs. So yeah, she also doesn't have phony boobs."

Zoe's face is almost red at this point and it takes everything in me to not burst out laughing.

"Should I also mention that she didn't need to get a cosmetic surgery to know if she'd finally have a presentable fac—"

"GRAYSON!!!"

She's almost livid at this point. I try not to chuckle as I say my next words.

"Oh, so you finally know my name?"

She doesn't reply, rather, she heads to retrieve the bra she had gotten rid of. I shake my head and pick up my phone. I start checking through my mails and I'm quick to forget that she's still in the room.

"I'll make you pay for this."

I glance up on hearing her voice to find her picking up a green dress that I hadn't noticed was lying on the bed. I roll my eyes while she quickly slips into the dress.

At least it's modest compared to her usual dressing. She starts heading towards the door. She's still halfway there when I hear the sound of the door creaking open.

I turn to the door on hearing Renata's voice, my heart close to hopping out of my chest.

"I'm back honey!" she says in a sing-song voice, nudging the door with her hip to widen the opening before walking in.

She moves towards me with a tray balanced between both her hands. She doesn't seem to notice Zoe for a moment. It's only until she sets the food in front of me that she notices her.

"Hey Zo," she says, flashing one of her charming smiles.

Zoe just manages to lift the corners of her lips for a millisecond before letting it drop.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there." Renata turns around to probably start serving the food but then pauses. She turns to look at Zoe before throwing a glance at me.

"Isn't that my dress?" she asks, still examining Zoe. "And why is she here?"

The last question is directed to me. Her tone is neutral, unlike I had expected, lacking any form of suspicions. I contemplate telling her the truth for a moment.

This isn't the first time Zoe is making an advance towards me. She had done it once before although I did wave it aside then because she was drunk. But then a repeat of it only spelt trouble, especially since she was sober.

I could tell Renata the truth but how would she take it? Zoe is by far the closest to her of all her family members for reasons I still can't understand. I can barely tolerate Zoe but she seems to love having her around.

She would be shattered if she ever found out what really went on in Zoe's head. I'd eventually have to tell her someday but since she's already cried today, I guess it would be sometime in the future. That is if there's ever a repeat of this incident.

"Hello?" Renata snaps her fingers in front of me to get my attention.

I glance up and for a minute, I can't form words.

"You're spacing out again." She frowns at me, crossing her hands over her chest.

I follow her movement. She's putting on a peach nightie with a v-neck which has most of her bust in display. I'm unable to take my eyes off her chest for a while before I regain myself.

"Sorry. What was the question again?"

"Seriously Gray? You're unbelievable!"

She throws her hands up in exasperation. I chuckle at her reaction before getting on my feet.

"Why don't we forget about that for now?"

She opens her mouth to object but I continue speaking. "You were saying something earlier. About wanting to kiss me?"

She shakes her head, chuckling. "You're impossible."

"Not impossible to satisfy though," I say, drawing closer.

"Shut up!"

She's unable to hold her laughter at this point as she tilts her head back and laughs out her heart.

"You can prove me wrong if you want."

I close the distance she created while laughing and soon there is almost no space between us.

"Or you can prove me right."

"Wanna place a bet?" A smirk dances on her face as she stares at me.

"I'm almost certain you'll win."

I close the distance before she can reply. Just as I place my lips on hers, someone clears their throat. I almost groan as she pulls away and tilts her head to throw Zoe a look. I'd almost forgotten about her presence.

"You guys can at least wait for me to leave."

A chuckle follows her words, one that seems rather forced. Renata doesn't seem to notice it as she smiles back at her.

"So why are you still here?" I ask, raising a brow.

My response causes Renata to chuckle while Zoe just throws me a glare.

"I was leaving."

The words almost sound like a hiss as they force themselves through her clenched teeth.

"The door is that way."

I point my chin towards the door eliciting another round of chuckles from Renata. Zoe just keeps a passive face as she stares at me.

"I don't need a guest's help to find my way around my own house."

Her words cause Renata's laughter to seize while my smile falls. Zoe starts heading towards the door but halts on hearing Renata's voice.

"You really can't take a joke. Must you always say something demeaning about my husband?"

Zoe spins around and keeps her eyes pinned on Renata.

"Demeaning?" She scoffs. "Oh please. What did I say wrong this time?"

The lack of remorse is evident in her voice and her presence irks me with each passing second.

"You called him a gues—"

She interrupts Renata. "Isn't he one?"

"He isn't."

"That someone over stays their welcome in a house that isn't theirs doesn't automatically make them family."

"He is my husband for goodness sake! You can at least try to respect that."

Zoe just stares at Renata after her outburst. She lets out a small chuckle before turning to continue her journey to the door.

Just when I think she's gone, I hear her voice again.

"I will. When he moves into his own house."

The sound of the door slamming shut follows her words. I turn to see Renata's lips hanging slightly open. As if in a trance, she remains staring at the door minutes after Zoe's exist.

It takes the chiming of the grandfather clock to snap her back to reality.

"Oh no, the food must have gone cold," she says, rushing towards the tray on the table the moment she returns to her senses.

I watch her lift the glass lids off a few ceramic plates before exhaling.

"It's still warm," she comments, picking up a plate and a large spoon to start dishing out the food.

I stare at her waiting for a reaction, words, anything but she says nothing. Eventually she drops a plate filled with food in front of me.

"Come and eat."

She starts filling a second plate after that.

"I'm not hungry."

I start heading towards the bed.

"You're really not gonna start this right now."

"Start what?"

I arch a brow as I settle on the bed, pulling the duvet over my legs.

"You know what I mean."

She's glaring at me now and I resist the urge to roll my eyes.

"So? I told you I wasn't hungry earlier."

"No, this is about what Zoe said. Right?"

"And?"

"You don't have to take whatever she said to heart."

I scoff. "I've heard it a million times. There's nothing to take to heart."

"Why aren't you eating then?"

"I don't want your free food."

The inside of her brows quirk up and her forehead creases for a moment. Her features smoothen before she shakes her head. "It's not free food. You already work in the company without pay. This food is barely anything in comparison with the work you do."

"Your family doesn't see it that way."

Renata sighs and I can tell she's tired of all this. "I know but—"

"Why don't you just move out with me? We can spare ourselves all this drama and we don't have to keep putting up with your family's taunts."

She looks away from me, shaking her head. "We can't—"

"Why can't we? That's what everyone in your family wants. They keep saying it. Even Clade and Zoe said it today. Why can't you see it? No one wants us around. We can easily move out and—"

"Move into where exactly!? A cramped up apartment that's barely enough for the two people already living in it!?"

Her words knock my reply right out of my throat and I'm left staring at her. It's like having a knife shoved down your throat and held down there but somehow feeling the pain in your chest.

I'm used to the others throwing low jabs my way but hers hits different. Right in the chest where it hurts the most.

I turn and adjust the pillow behind me so that I'm able to lie on it. She seems to realize what she just did as she tries to speak again, her words coming out rushed and her voice breaking at intervals.

"I mean—It's not like. . . My father won't—"

I close my eyes and try to tune out her voice. Maybe my mum was right and I shouldn't have rushed into getting married. But I was a prisoner to love and even now I can't get myself free from it's shackles.
