After sitting in the garden for sometime, Ned offered to take Nora to his home, so that she could cool off. He understood Nora's hesitation, knowing that bringing her to the house and to his to his mother, Maria, in such a vulnerable state could potentially add to her distress. He gently held her hands, looking into her tear-filled eyes with empathy and reassurance.
