ALEXA

Noelle and I finished from the press office where we went to get my brand name registered and labeled.

We had eventually come to the conclusion of “Alexa’s Touch On Men – ATOM” and it was just perfect!

I could rarely wait for the launch now as we had been able to achieve a lot over the last couple of days. Almost everything was set. We had been able to book the hall for the launch party and contacted vendors and event planners to help fix the event.

“I just want everything to be perfect,” I told Noelle over and over again.

“And it will be, Alexa, relax,” she said, chuckling.

The day before, Alexa and I arranged the invitation boxes in a grand and stylish way, and according to our guest list, sent them out through a courier service.

“If we must get these billionaires to attend and sign me for contracts aside from your dad’s influence in getting them there, then the invitation must be something that would soothe their pride and status,” I had told Noelle.

“Of course,” Noelle had

ALEXAThe tears flowed freely, and even when Noelle came over to me and joined me on the floor to console me, I could not stop crying.“He rejected my invitation, Noelle,” I said amidst the tears and bitterness.“You are going to hurt yourself if you continue crying like this,” Noelle said, her voice filled with pity and sympathy towards.I had been skeptical about sending an invitation to him because I was scared and worried about being turned down, but I had no idea that it would hurt me this much. My heart was broken into several tiny pieces, and my throat was tight.“I can’t stop crying,” I told Noelle as more tears flowed. “What if he never forgives me? What if I have lost my dad just because of one reckless night at the club?” I asked, my voice breaking as I cried profusely.Noelle figured that if she continued talking, it would likely fall on deaf ears, because she could feel my pain and brokenness from my tears and the sound of my voice. So instead, Noelle gathered me in her a

ALEXAA few years back, shortly after the doctor announced that Mark had woken up from his coma and I had happily announced to dad and Clara about the good news, I had received a call from Clara. It had been a surprise, because Clara never called me, and the first thought that had come to my mind was that something was wrong with my dad.“Clara?” I had answered the phone with a dreadful anticipation.“Where are you?” Clara had asked, sounding displeased over the phone, which wasn’t new, because she had never masked her dislike towards me, even in the presence of my dad.“At home, fixing the house and making arrangement for Mark’s return home,” I had answered innocently.Indeed, right after Mark woke up, he had demanded to be taken out of the hospital; he had wanted to continue his treatment from the comfort of his mansion, and away from the nosy eyes of bloggers and gossips.Unfortunately, I hadn’t been right there when he had woken up; I had gone for a quick grocery shopping for the

ALEXAHow could I have said no to Clara’s demands when her threats were real? How could I not bow to what she and Ivy wanted when everything my dad ever built was hanging on the line? How couldn’t I be considerate?I had agreed painfully, even though it shattered my heart, but I had hoped that Mark would not want Ivy anymore. At least, if he pushed her away, then it would no longer be any fault of mine.“Let’s go to the hospital together and get this over and done with,” Clara had stated firmly.I had swallowed hard and nodded.Maybe I should have been bold enough to tell my dad the kind of woman Clara was, especially the first time I had found out that she was cruel and dangerous, but I just couldn’t. I was too scared and worried about my dad. He had been so lonely and unhappy, and being around Clara drove all that loneliness away. How could I break his heart like that, but now, I was suffering the brunt of my decisions to stay quiet.“I can’t wait to see Mark!” Ivy had squealed in d

ALEXA“All this happened?” Noelle jumped up from the bed, astonished. She could barely believe what I just narrated to her, and I understood her shock, because despite our closeness, I decided to keep this part of it from her.“Yes, it did,” I answered sadly.“And you kept it all away from me?” Noelle asked.“I was too ashamed to tell you,” I told Noelle as fresh wave of tears spilled down my cheeks. “You warned me against marrying Mark and playing maid after Ivy dumped him, besides, it was Ivy he chose and not me, but I didn’t listen. I stubbornly went ahead and married a man in his sick bed without his knowledge and took care of him dutifully, but it was because I loved Mark genuinely,” I added.“You have always loved Mark Ronaldo, and he is the wrong man for you, Alexa, but you still should have told me,” Noelle insisted, feeling sorry for me and angry about what I just told her.“I was just too ashamed, especially when he looked into my eyes and denied me, Noelle. MARK“How does the invitation make you feel?” Vector asked me.Well, Vector was a friend of mine. My best friend, in fact, but that did not mean that I would tell him everything, or exactly how I felt.I was a man of great pride, and that was because it was a common trait in the Ronaldo lineage.“You are a man, and your ego is all that you have. It is what the men in this family are known for, and it is the only thing you have to hold onto,” my dad had told me several times when he was alive.Every single male in the Ronaldo’s family had been known for their untamable pride and ego, and my dad had ensured that he put it inside of me before he died. There was no room for anything called emotions or sympathy or sentiments.“No one ever owns and runs an empire when they have the heart of a woman,” I had often been told, especially when I told over the family business. And in truth, neither of his words had been wrong for any reason. While some of the CEO sons I had grown up with had allow

IVYI had been giddy and elated since Mark asked me to be his date to Alexa’s launch, and I could not contain my excitement.“Hello,” I spoke into the phone as soon as the call connected. “Miss Ivy, it is so good to hear from you,” my stylist answered from the other end of the phone. She was one of the most expensive and stylish female stylists in the entire city, and because of who I was, it was only logical that she became my personal stylist as well. If female celebrities and high class women in Paris were making use of her services, then why shouldn’t I? Besides, since I started to hang out with Mark Ronaldo, even before the accident, it was only reasonable to use stylist such as herself. If Alexa had decided to become a female stylist, she would have failed woefully, because she would never have come any close to my stylist, and that was all the consolation I needed.“Yes, it is,” I said happily. “I need a custom-made dress,” I told her, not wanting to waste too much time over t

IVYThis was the second time I was getting a call from Oscar after the visit he paid to me unexpectedly when I had spoken with the girl I set up with Mark.As I waited for him at the hotel room that he said he paid for us to meet, I wondered if I was doing the right thing or not. In truth, I only accepted to meet with Oscar because he was gradually becoming a pest. Fine, after the time we spent together out of Paris, I had thought that he would stay away like he did when I got together with Mark before the accident. The last thing I needed right now was a clingy ex-lover, especially as things seemed to be working our way.Thankfully, Oscar was smart enough to pick a very cheap and private hotel. Usually, I would have been disgusted by the fact that he was choosing a cheap hotel, but then again, Oscar was just being as careful and smart as I would be.No blogger would think to go anywhere close to a cheap hotel, because they knew that rich, powerful, and influential people would never

ALEXA“Everything is set for your party,” Noelle said, much to my relief. She had selflessly and willingly taken on the job of my personal assistant, making sure that everything was falling into place easily.“Why do I sense that there is a but in that statement?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.I could literally read Noelle’s facial expression even though her lips were not saying the words.“Your dress for the launch,” Noelle answered. “You are fashion enthusiast for men, not women,” Noelle reminded me.“I know that, but what are you trying to say?” I asked.“I am trying to say that you are in no way going to pick out your own outfit for this event,” Noelle said.“But why not?” I asked, confused. “The men who would be coming will be the center of attraction, not me. So who cares if I wear a pair of jean trousers and cotton sweater?” Noelle shook her head at me in disappointment, and I really resisted the urge to laugh at how frustrated and exasperated she was just dealing with me.“Lis

ALEXAI went right into the dressing room, panting like a deer that had just completed a marathon. My heart was thumping really fast and my head was beginning to bang loudly.Noelle came in almost immediately.“Alexa, I am so sorry,” she said instantly. “I tried to prevent the coordinator from allowing her say a single word, but I couldn’t, and also, I did not want to give the crowd a bad impression,” Noelle explained hastily as though it was her fault.Yeah, it was because I didn’t also want to give out a wrong impression that I allowed Ivy mockingly and stylishly bully me. What she asked was a very sensitive question, and that alone was enough to ruin everything that we had both worked for. One thing that was for sure was that people were more than interested in knowing family secrets and stories. If they knew what was going on between my dad and I and why he wasn’t present, half of them might take their leave and never contact me for a business contract.“It is not your fault, Noe

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   The First Party Speech

ALEXAI was about starting my speech on the stage when I caught sight of Mark and Ivy who just entered the hall. Fortunately, I hadn’t already begun, otherwise their entrance would have stalled my speech, and everyone, or most people would have noticed. They were both dressed in matching colors, an obvious indication that they were a couple, and as Ivy clung dearly to Mark’s side, they almost looked like a pair made in heaven.Anyway, I had to quickly remind myself that I was on the stage, and that every prominent man in the hall were here because of me, waiting to address them. Whatever I would say now would determine if all this was worth it or if I was going to sink, and I reminded myself that I didn’t want to sink at all.“Good evening gentlemen and their ladies,” I started after taking a few deep breaths. I had already determined in my heart not to look in Mark and Ivy’s direction so that I wouldn’t lose focus. If I was to do this, I would have to do it well. “Thank you all for

MARK“You look dashing, honey,” Ivy purred as we met in the living room. “And we look perfect together,” she added with a smile on her face.It was time for Alexa’s party, and although Ivy’s dress looked fabulous and it was fitting for what I was also wearing, especially with the fact that we were a couple again now, I just couldn’t bring myself to feeling happy. The last twenty-four hours had been spent thinking about my choices and decisions.“Are you sure you really want to marry Ivy, especially with the fact that you have a sexual condition, and worse, thoughts of another woman in your head?”I had continued asking myself, but then again, my inheritance and position was at stake. I had already decided that after this party, I would be returning back to work.Mr. Devon was right; if I had paid rapt attention to the company’s policies, I would have known what was at stake, and at such, I would never have allowed that divorce pull through, but then again, it wasn’t until Alexa asked

ALEXAMy whole world crumbled right in my very eyes as I saw the news and the picture of the engagement right.“I have always known that Mark Ronaldo is an asshole,” Noelle was speaking angrily. “How can he just move on with Ivy after everything you did for him? Gosh, he is such a blind bat,” Noelle added.“Noelle, please, I want to be alone,” I said, my voice almost coming out in a whisper, and that was because I was trying not to shed the tears that were threatening to come.“Alexa, this is not the time for you to go all mushy and heartbroken and emotional,” Noelle said motivationally. “I am certain that they wanted you to feel this way, which was why the announced the damn engagement yesterday evening, a day before your big day. You must never allow that to happen. I only showed this to you because you insisted that Mark could bring Ivy along, and knowing that cunning stepsister of yours, I knew that it would eventually come out, and I did not want you to be taken unprepared,” Noel

ALEXAThe day for my fashion brand launch party was finally here!I could hardly stay still as Eva did the final fittings on the most beautiful dress I had ever seen, and even better, I was wearing it. Indeed, I argued with Noelle about being the best dressed female even though it was my own show, but now, I could see that she was right.Noelle was always right about everything.Goodness, with how beautiful I looked just staring at the mirror, and Eva wasn’t even done yet, I wanted to hug and kiss Noelle for being my stone of support, and for not letting my own thoughts get the better part of me.“Please, try and stay still,” Eva said gently and professionally. One thing I noticed about her was how much she had been in her best effort to impress me, and I wondered if it was naturally her work ethic, or she was just doing this because of my perceived new status.“How did Ivy take it when you told her that you couldn’t make her dress?” I had to ask. When Eva had told Noelle and I that s

IVYAs I drove down to Mark’s house, the thought of the shared invitation card lingered in my mind. How could I have been so foolish as to have left it there? Fine, I didn’t exactly leave it there, but if I wasn’t in a haste to get far away from Oscar, I would have actually taken my time with picking up the contents of my bag that had fallen.“How could you let this happen?” I berated myself. In the box Alexa sent to people she wanted to attend her launch party, she included an extra invitation, because she knew that the men might want to either come with their wives or mistresses. “Why the heck did she even invite Mark?” I asked myself angrily.Alexa was nothing but an opportunist. She had always been a sneaky girl, and the only person who knew her exactly for who she was were myself and my mum. First of all, she swindled her way into Mark’s life, knowing that we were engaged to be married. After I was able to get her to leave Mark, she goes ahead with a bloody launch party.“Men’s

IVY“Are you insane?! You chose Alexa over me?!” I almost exploded. In fact, I exploded. I took a glance at my mother and she had the look of shock and anger in her facial expression. “I am so sorry, Ivy,” Eva said over the phone.“Damn it, Eva!” I barked at her. “First of all, who the heck is Alexa for you to choose her over me? I have been using your services for years now and you do know who my man, right?” I queried her.“In business, Miss Eva, it is not just about who has been patronizing for long or the kind of man you are with at the moment. Business is competition and profit, Ivy,” Eva said, sounding like a fucking greedy bitch. If she was standing right in front of me, I would have slapped her right across the face for talking to me in such a manner after everything, and worse, for my sworn enemy, Alexa. Well, maybe she knew that I could possibly be violent when enraged and so she had decided to give me this wretched information through the phone.“Really?” I asked, getting

ALEXAIt was two days to my launch party and as the day drew closer, my heart began to palpitate. I was a nervous wreck even though I tried to act brave and strong. What if this didn’t work? What if my ability to style men was just a tiny talent that should stay in the room and not out there in the open? What if it turned out being a horrible disaster and I became a laughingstock at the end of the day? Thankfully, Noelle was out visiting her family for lunch, awarding me enough time to actually stay alone and sit with my thoughts.Since my divorce from Mark and the beginning of this brand launch planning and everything, I hadn’t had time to myself, and I felt like I was drowning away. Noelle had been constantly present and also a huge part of my success so far, but I really needed this moment. This would be the only time I would have alone before the party, and I intended to make good use of it.After dwelling in my thoughts, worries, and anxiety, I decided to talk myself out of it a

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   The Only Way Out

MARK I was working in my study when I heard a subtle knock on the door. I groaned in annoyance, because I really did not like anyone to be interrupting me while I worked. This was another occasion where I missed having Alexa around. When she still lived here, she knew that I hated to be disturbed when working, even though I never mentioned it outright to her, so she often ensured that no one came close to my study. Instead, she mostly handled everything until I was done and out. It wasn’t just this part; the food, routine, coffee, which she knew just how to prepare it according to the way I liked it, and of course, picking out my outfit without being asked. Then, I usually felt like she was overplaying her part, especially for a woman whom I woke up from coma only to discover that she had become my wife.“How the hell did it happen?” I had asked when I was left with just Ivy and her mother before I was moved out of the hospital. “You should have been my wife and not her, so what hap
