Estella POV

Alejandro straightened his tie. He looks almost too perfect to be real. Dark, tousled hair that always looked like someone had run their hands through it—probably because I did. Sharp cheekbones, a jawline cut like marble, and those stormy grey eyes that seemed to pierce through every layer of my soul.

He was infuriatingly gorgeous. Like some sculptor had taken one look at an ancient Greek god and decided to create something better.

“How do you even exist?” I muttered, adjusting the lapels of his midnight-black suit.

“You keep touching me like that, and I won’t care that we’re already late to Camila’s ridiculous party.”

I rolled my eyes, trying to ignore the flutter in my chest. “Ridiculous or not, I have to admit—you look devastatingly handsome tonight. Perfect suit, sexy tie, that jawline… I’m surprised the mirrors don’t crack under the weight of all that perfection.”

He grabbed my wrist, pulling me flush against him. My breath hitched as his hands slid to my

Estella POVBefore either of them could respond, a young waitress, barely older than twenty, approached our table with a tray of champagne flutes. As she leaned forward to offer a glass to Vivian, the edge of her tray caught on Vivian’s dress, sending a small splash of champagne onto the fabric. She froze, her face pale. “I’m so sorry, ma’am. I didn’t mean—”“Do you have any idea how much this dress costs?” Vivian snapped, her voice sharp enough to make the poor girl flinch. The waitress stammered, her hands trembling. “I-I’ll clean it right away—”Vivian didn’t let her finish. With a sneer, she grabbed the whole tray and tipped its contents onto the poor girl’s uniform.“Now we’re even,” she said coldly, a cruel smile curling her lips.I couldn’t stay silent. “Enough,” I said, stepping forward. The murmurs around us quieted, and all eyes turned to our little scene. I reached for the girl, gently pulling her behind me.“She apologized,” I said. “There was no reason to humiliate her.”

Estella POV I couldn’t take another second of this. It was suffocating. “I’m going to lie down,” I said abruptly, excusing myself from the room before anyone could stop me. I couldn’t stomach Camila’s cloying voice for another second. “Oh, Estella,” she cooed, her eyes following me. “You really should. You’re still looking sick. Maybe you need some vitamins? Don’t worry I have loads of skincare packed here for you.” I bit my tongue and forced a tight smile. “Thanks for the concern but I’m good. There is no need. ” I didn’t wait for her reply as I headed back for the stairs, her voice floating up behind me. “Alejandro, do you hear that? She’s overworked. You should do something about it. This is the reason I planned this sleepover.” I rolled my eyes and kept walking. “Oh, come on, Alejandro!” she whined. “It’ll be fun. Like old times. I can’t go back to that apartment after what happened.” I paused mid-step, curiosity getting the better of me. “And what exactly happe

Estella POVI stepped into the modest yet elegant space that housed Estrella Designs. It wasn’t huge—a handful of rooms for consultations, storage, and a cozy workspace where my team brought my ideas to life. At the far end, the walls were lined with shelves displaying my signature piecesI’d dreamed of expanding by the end of the year, turning this modest studio into a fashion house worthy of the luxury pieces we created. And if the current sales continued, that dream wasn’t far off.“Welcome back, Ms. Estella.” Clara greeted me at the door with her usual her no-nonsense attitude which had been exactly what I needed when I hired her.She was my first hire.I still remembered her interview—when I asked her the one question I asked every candidate, ‘Why should I hire you?’“Because I don’t just work hard. I make things happen,” she’d said. She hadn’t been lying.“How’s everything running?” I asked, shrugging off my coat as we walked to my office.“Better than you’d think,” Clara said, h

Estella POVMy phone pulled me from my spiraling thoughts. Alejandro’s name lit up the screen.“How did the deal go, mi estrella? I know you’ll knock them off their feet. Don’t forget you’re unstoppable. Call me later—I want to hear all about it and I miss your voice already.”I stared at his words and swallowed hard. This should have been comforting, but it only twisted the knife deeper. He had no idea about the accusations, the cancellations, or the articles dragging Estrella Designs through the mud.My thumbs hovered over the screen, tempted to unload everything.“It was a disaster. Someone’s accusing me of fraud, and now everything’s falling apart because of a stupid online post.”I stared at the words, then sighed and erased them. Instead, I typed something simpler“I’ll tell you all about it when I get home.”Pressing send, I let out a shaky breath. My fingers tightened around my coffee mug as guilt bubbled in my chest. Alejandro always had faith in me, but right now, I wasn’t s

Alejandro was propped up against the headboard, a laptop balanced on his thighs. His face was pale, a sheen of sweat dotting his brow, but his eyes lit up the moment he saw me.“You’re back,” he said, his voice low and hoarse.I frowned, crossing the room in a few quick strides. “Alejandro, you look like you’ve been through a war,.”He smirked, though it lacked his usual fire. “Thanks, mi estrella. Just the compliment I needed.”Ignoring his sarcasm, I tugged the laptop off his lap, setting it on the nightstand. A glance at the bedside table revealed untouched tea and covered snacks left by Miss-we-go-way-back. My fingers brushed his forehead, and the heat radiating off him made my stomach twist.“You’re burning up.”“I’m fine,” he murmured, trying to wave me off, but even that small movement seemed to sap his strength.“Why didn’t you tell me you were sick?” I demanded, planting my hands on my hips.He shrugged, his lips quirking into a faint smile. “You had a meeting to worry about.

A smile tugged at my lips, relief washing over me. When did you wake up?” I said, spinning around to face himHe raised a brow, crossing his arms. Even with the pale flush of fever still clinging to his cheeks, he looked every bit the sexy commanding man I’d married. “I was, but you’re being suspicious. Let me see.”“No!” I said quickly, scooting back on the bed.He raised an eyebrow. “Now that’s suspicious. You’re hiding something, mi estrella.“I’m not!” I shot back, but the heat rising to my face betrayed me.“Oh, really?” His lips curved into a dangerous smirk, and before I could protest, he lunged for the phone.“Stop!” I yelped, twisting away from him.I dodged, barely managing to keep it out of reach. “Alejandro!” I shrieked, laughter bubbling up.“Give it to

Estella The door swung open, and Alejandro walked back into the room, his expression stormy. I sat up, pulling the blanket tighter around me, waiting for him to speak. “She’s leaving,” he announced curtly, his voice still laced with the anger from earlier. “Good,” I muttered. He climbed back into bed, brushing a hand over his face. “I’m sorry you had to deal with that.” Before I could respond, a sharp knock echoed from the door. Alejandro groaned, his jaw tightening as he called out, “What now?” Camila peeked her head inside, her eyes red-rimmed and watery. She looked nothing like the smug woman who’d barged in earlier. “Alejandro… I know you want me gone. But I—I can’t leave right now.” His glare was icy. “What part of ‘you’re leaving’ didn’t you understand?” Tears spilled down her cheeks as she stepped inside, clutching her phone tightly. “I just got off the phone with my building manager. I promise. But I have to go. There are things that need my attention.”I sighed, knowing I wasn’t going to win this one. “Fine. It hadn’t been snowing when I left home, but now it was heavy flakes covering the windshield and muffling the sound of my tires on the secluded drive.I cursed under my breath, gripping the steering wheel tighter as I turned into the long, winding driveway of the mansion. This place was old money through and through: a large plot of land in the middle of nowhere, towering oak trees lining the path, and a mansion that looked more like a fortress. The entire property’s lights were out, save for a faint glow coming from a single window on the second floor. When I reached the entrance, I slammed the car door shut and jogged to the grand stone front steps.

Estella Mia’s blank stare still stuck with me as I walked back into the house, locking the door behind me. The whole house was silent, the kind that made every creak of the floorboards echo louder than it should. What the hell was Mia doing out there? Sleepwalking? Spying? I couldn’t figure it out, but the way she just stood there, staring, still gave me chills. I tried to shake off the thought. She’d been weird since the moment she started working here. I sent Alejandro a quick message: Are you almost there? Is she okay? I sighed, heading to the bedroom. My dress clung to me uncomfortably after the long day, and I peeled it off, tossing it onto the chair. Sliding into the bathroom, I turned on the shower, letting the hot water soothe my tense muscles. The warm spray did little to calm my thoughts. My mind was a whirlwind of suspicion and unease. I had just been proposed to. I should be euphoric, floating on air, but instead, I felt restless. When I stepped out of the shower,

She’s just lying there!”Alejandro pinched the bridge of his nose, his jaw clenched as he paced. “Camila, just take a deep breath. Did you check her pulse? Is she still breathing?”“I-I didn’t want to touch her,” she stammered. “What if I make it worse? I don’t know what to do, Alejandro. I’m scared. She hasn’t even opened her eyes! Please what should I do?”“Stay with her,” he ordered, his voice firm. “I’m on my way. I’ll be there soon.”Alejandro’s expression was unreadable as he slid his phone into his pocket, but I could feel the tension radiating off him. I know what he is feeling. He told Lucia is like a mother to him. Losing her is like reliving the lost of his mother.“You’re going?” I asked, even though I already knew the answer.“Yes,” he said shortly, grabbing his keys from his pocket.I stepped in front of him. “I’ll come

His cocky smile was a reminder of how easily people could turn on you when it suited them“Well well Estella,” he said. “I have to say, tonight’s event was nothing short of extraordinary.”“Extraordinary enough to make you regret pulling out of our deal?” I replied, arching a brow. His smile faltered for a split second, but he recovered quickly. “A lapse in judgment, I admit. One I deeply regret. That’s why I’m here—to assure you that Vanveau is still very interested in partnering with Estrella Designs. The deal stands if you’re willing.”I crossed my arms, keeping my face neutral. “Funny. I seem to remember you being the first to jump ship when the rumors started.

The tension in the room thickened as Vivian’s father strode in, his presence commanding every ounce of attention. His tailored suit was impeccable, his silver hair gleaming under the spotlights. He scanned the room, his piercing gaze settling on Vivian, who was still struggling against the guards.“Daddy!” Vivian’s voice cracked as she broke free from their grip, staggering toward him like a child seeking refuge. “Look at what they’re doing to me! She humiliated me in front of everyone. She’s lying daddy! You can’t let them treat me like this.”“Vivian.” His voice was a low rumble, full of warning. “Enough.”Her confidence faltered for the briefest moment before she doubled down, her voice rising hysterically. “Enough? Estella We were still on the stage, under the blinding lights and sharp gazes of the elite, all I could focus on was Vivian. She was seething, her face twisted in rage as she lunged toward me. Her voice was shrill as she screamed, “You think you can humiliate me like this? You don’t know who you’re messing with, you bitch!.“Alejandro moved to my side in an instant, his hand firm on my waist. The heat in his eyes told me he was one second away from ripping Vivian apart. “Calm the fuck down and get lost, Vivian. That’s enough.”But she wasn’t calming down. If anything, Alejandro’s intervention seemed to spur her on. Her wild eyes fixed on me, and she sneered, “Of course, your knight in shining armor. Always rushing to save you, isn’t he? Just so you know you’re nothing without him!”She grabbed a glass from the nearby refreshment table. Before anyone could stop her, she hurled it with all her might—straight at me.“Estella!” Alejandro roared, stepping in front of me.The glass shatter

It wasn’t every day that a promising startup like Estella’s Designs announced a partnership with a powerhouse like Cadwell Enterprises. The venue was packed with industry elites, media personnel, and potential investors, their eyes darting between the stage and their phones as they live-tweeted every moment. I stood behind the curtains, trying to calm my racing heart. Vivian’s figure loomed just a few feet away. She looked every bit the goddess she pretended to be, but I knew better. Vivian turned, her expression smug. “Nervous, Estella?” “Excited,” I replied, my smile bright. “Oh, you should be,” she said. The applause quieted as Vivian took the mic. Her crimson gown shimmered under the lights, perfectly coordinated with her aura of smug confidence. “Good evening, everyone,” Vivian began. “This partnership,” she said, her voice dripping with faux sincerity, “is about more than business.
