Numb

Alesso felt something stir inside him. He became numb to everything around him from the moment Victor outsmarted him and his own men back stabbed him. His friends gave him a little solace, but the numbness refused to leave at all. He feels vacant from inside out. He stopped feeling anything at all. Nothing fazes him these days. But today, Livi's outburst made him feel amused, and he didn't try to control his laughter when he realised why she is so angry. Usually she is always so quiet. She barely talks to him and always refuses to even look at him properly. But today, her eyes are blazing with anger under a layer of fear. She misunderstood the situation from that morning and he didn't assure that nothing happened. He did not think about how she would take this. But now, looking at her feisty attitude with her claws drawn out, she looks cute. A thrill ran down his body looking at her all riled up like this.

'Well, this quiet kitten has hidden claws ' he thought with amusement.

"Livi, what is bothering you so much?" he asked lazily, pretending that he did not understand her concerns.

His words made her gritt her teeth with anger.

"Don't try to fool me Alessandro. I know that you know what this is all about" she snapped with anger.

Just then, Czar entered the office when a maid informed him about Olivia's unusual behaviour. A frown is etched between his thick eyebrows. He heard Olivia's words just now, and he was shocked to say the least. He is now worried about her life. In all the years that Czar has been working for Alessandro, one thing he learned about his boss is that he never tolerates disrespect and disobedience. That person would end up in a body bag for sure. Now, Olivia is being disrespectful and her voice is louder and angrier that it should have been. So he is now worried about her.

"Boss" he greeted Alessandro. He was expecting his boss to be angry. But he couldn't believe his eyes when he noticed that his boss looked rather amused, which is a shock. He froze and his gaze danced between Alesso and Olivia. But his boss's words made him snap out of his shock.

"Czar, looks like our Livi has an issue here. Find out what it is and try to resolve it" Alessandro instructed his under boss with a sexy smirk directed towards Olivia.

Alessandro knows that Olivia would never speak about her grivience with anyone other than him. But he is intentionally making her mad, so that he can chase his numbness at least for a few minutes.

When Olivia heard Alesso's words, her eyes became wide and her face became bright red with discomfort and embarrassment.

"Alessandro" she hissed with outrage.

There is no way she would share about 'that ' with anyone but the man who was with her the previous night. She knows that Alessandro is doing this intentionally.

"Miss Rae, is there anything I can help you with?" Czar turned to face Olivia and asked politely.

Olivia gave him and forced smile.

"Yes Mr. Czar. Can you please give me a moment with your Boss?" she requested sweetly and turned to glare daggers at Alessandro who is leaning back in his chair with an amused smirk.

Czar is feeling confused and lost for words. He is feeling like he woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. His boss who usually snaps and sneers at everyone is now smiling with his eyes. And the usually quiet Olivia is now sneering and snapping with anger. And the worst part is, her anger is directed towards his boss. He looked at Alesso for guidance. But Alesso is looking at Olivia.

"I am sorry, Livi. But I am busy now. I cannot help you. You can ask either Czar or Carlos for guidance" he said while pretending to be busy with work.

Olivia gaped at him with frustration. She knows that he is avoiding this topic. But she is not going to leave this with out getting answers from him.

"Miss Rae, please, allow me to help you" Czar offered, trying his best to take the stupid girl away from the room.

Olivia is still glaring daggers at Alessandro, while he is pretending to type something on his lap top.

"Let's see how long you will escape from answering me. But don't think that this is over. What you did is unforgivable" she said with anger and stormed out of his room. Czar is left in a dilemma. He couldn't decide if he should follow her or stay here and ask his boss about what is wrong with her.

After she left, Alesso stopped pretending and lifted his head while his gaze remained fixed on the door through which she just left. He is amused. His heart is pounding with excitement. His skin is hot to touch. His once numb emotions are now nowhere numb. He is excited. He understood that it's because of her. Her anger and frustration is the drug he needs to remember that he survived a storm.

Czar sighed heavily and scratched behind his head.

"What is wrong with her? She is usually so quiet and polite" he murmured to himself.

"Thank god that she turned out to be a wild cat" Alesso murmured absently.

His words caught Czar off guard. He looked at his boss as if Alesso has suddenly developed horns.

"What is wrong with you? She is snapping and yelling at you like that and you are happy for that? I know you are fond of her, but what is this?" he asked. Confusion is clear in his words.

Alesso leaned back in his chair with a small smile. He is still thinking about Olivia.

"I don't know. It must be because she is beautiful or because I care about her. But for some reason, I like her spunk. I like her more than the previous quiet version. She is pure hearted and only think the best for the people about whom she cares. She is not pretenatious. Unlike other women out there, she never tried to get close to me for my money. She is herself. I used to think that she might not get angry at all. But looking at her like this, standing up for what she thought was wrong, It's refreshing to see. Her fear is now replaced by the bitterness of the injustice she thinks that I did. I did many crimes, but not the thing she is thinking that I did" he spoke up.

But Czar is looking at Alesso with the same confused face that he was sporting from the moment he entered this alternate universe where his boss looks happy and Olivia is angry.

'What did he do? And what is she thinking? This is so confusing. Killing people is easier than this ' he thought to himself with a frown.
