Chapter 47: News Not PleasingVladic Regime's POV:I was sitting behind my desk when Brookli walked over and sat down in front of me in one of the chairs opposite my desk. She was looking down at her lap after she was seated there, with a frown on her face. It made me wonder what was the reason for her expression. She was usually pretty cheery, which was a bit much for me if I had to say anything about it. I was more refined and had a sleek disposition. I always wore dark or charcoal-colored attire and made sure that everything was well-trimmed. Even my tailor knew my style and it had never changed. I have had the same look for decades now and I did not see that changing anytime soon."What is with the long face?" I asked her as she had yet to say anything. She finally looked up at me and then opened her mouth to speak and then closed it again. Finally, she opened her mouth and spoke. "Father, I am sorry, but I tried to bring her but she was stuck in the wagon we were taken i
Chapter 48: The Plot ThickensVladic Regime's POVWe made our way through the shadows of the setting sun. As long as we stayed in the shadows, we would be fine. I was a very powerful warlock that I could stand to be in the sun as long as I was in human form, not that I cared to be in the sun at all. It was way too bright for me. I preferred the night as was when I did most of my dealings and such. I was so powerful that I could do anything I wished. I could even grant those with a less fortunate life one that they longed after, even if their own life was not what they wanted it to be. I was starting small in my endeavor. However, I had my servitors pass out the word to those said individuals to contact Clan Regime and send word they wished to participate in The Regime Factor. They would then be able to pay dearly for this new life. I would even prevent others from interfering with their new life for an additional fee. There were numerous ways one could pay for this, of cou
Chapter 49: The Aidman's NewsRameric's POV:I could not get her back to my castle fast enough. She was just lying there in my arms, helpless, not even bothering to move. This really confirms my thoughts firsthand about humans being weak and insignificant in a whole new perspective. As I looked down at her, as I recalled the images of her lying on the dirt in the broken-down cart, I knew she had lost a lot of blood. Almost too much for her survival. It was going to be close to see if she would pull through or not. I needed to get her back so she could see the aidman before I lost her entirely. I just hope that she did not lose too much that would cause her to perish as I would not be able to stand for that. Galien was in the seat in front of me as we were rushing to get back to the castle. I knew I would have a lot to deal with soon, about the spell that was cast on the members of my pack and all, but that would have to wait. I needed to see to her wounds first by making su
Chapter 50: Doesn't Add UpRaiven's POV:After Rameric rushed off towards his pack's castle, Riot was not pleased with what we initially found upon arriving at the area. He scouted around even before we made our way over by the turned-over wagon. There was evidence of someone else here, someone who Riot has not been able to track down a scent. It was not very common for someone to evade his detection, but whoever this individual was, they seemed to know how to evade the detection of a Lycan such as Riot. I was pretty stout when it came to tracking but Riot was better as his nose was unkeen to miss anything. As we searched the surrounding area before Rager arrived, we came across something that I was having a hard time explaining. The tree that was removed from the toppled wagon was pushed over, roots and all. There was nothing else that could have explained it. And it was the top of the tree that fell on the wagon cart. If the base of the tree fell on it, there is no doubt t
Chapter 51: The Dark VoidAlasia's POV:What is happening to me?! Where am I? The last thing I remember was my side being in extreme pain due to the broken cage rail being removed. I did not remove the broken rail, so who did? What happened? I do not recall wolves having fingers to move things around. They did have mouths that they could chew on things but that still would not make any sense as to how it was removed. As I looked around, all I could see was darkness. It was like I was stuck in this dark void of some kind. There was no smell or sight other than the darkness. I could not even feel anything on my own skin. As I continue to look around me, it is when I think I can see something, faintly in the far-off distance. As I focus on this little light, it is like I am looking at a picture before me. As I focus on it more and more, I notice how it starts to get bigger as if this is coming closer to me. When I look around me, I am still in the void of nothingness and c
Chapter 52: This Is UnbelievableAlasia's POV:I could not believe I was staring at my mother! She was actually here! Wait, how was she here? I did not know or understand it, but I believed she was here with me now. This was unbelievable if I had to try to understand all this, but I knew what I saw and felt. I could feel her as I touched her arms when she hugged me. I could feel her and knew it was her. She was the most loving person I ever met and she was my mother. I wished she did not have to leave me all those years ago. She left me and my little brother to the mercy of that man. There was so much I needed to tell her, so much I needed to try to figure out what happened. "What happened?" I asked suddenly as my mind was overwhelmed by unanswered questions. "I simply must know why this is happening.""Well, I will start out like this," she said as was still sitting there on the grass under the tree. "You were very close to death. However, someone whom you will not be
Chapter 53: Close To DeathRameric's POV:We all stood around her in complete shock at the sight before us. There was a large gaping hole in the side of her abdomen that was still seeping with blood. I was surprised that there was still blood for her to lose at this point. We all stood there not knowing if she was going to live or perish at my lack of blood she apparently lost. Gladrian did not waste any time. He grabbed a few supplies among the various dressings there and started to wash her side. He even had the necessary items to stitch her up which she was certainly going to need. When he had her rolled to the side earlier, he made sure there was only one hole to worry about and not two. To be honest, I was actually surprised she managed to stay out for all of this. No matter the amount of pain a human would be in, once you stuck a needle into their skin in any attempt to try to stitch them up they would immediately wake. The fact she did not, worries me even more. As
Chapter 54: Signs Of LifeRameric's POV:I am getting really frustrated with this situation, as I feel helpless just sitting here. I need to do something other than just do nothing! After Raiven left the room, I stood up and figured I could at least walk around. That would be better than doing nothing, right? Well, at least I would be walking around instead of staying in one place feeling like my mind is about to spin out of control with the lack of my ability to do anything to change what happened. I started to pace back and forth when I thought I would at least walk over to the table and see all what supplies that Gladrian left here for her. I knew that Galien was not likely to return till the new light which I am sure should not be all that long as we have been up most of this dark evening. As I looked over the supplies, I turned to look back at her as she was lying there helpless on the day pad. Why was I so foolish to leave her behind again? Why did I not know better?
