Claire's POV
It's been a calm past few days, Martin has kept me company and tried to keep my mind off of everything. He's kept me occupied so I can't think about anything, not the stress of my family, not Tara, and not the proficy half of me pleas to know. The border scare was a false alarm and it was just a young wolf who wondered to far from their own pack. What if it had been Tara? Would he have really killed her? What if she does come back? Today is the day my parents move into their new home....finally away from me. I know I shouldn't but I want to try to make amends for what happened the other day. I don't want them to be my enemies, I'm tired of the hatred I have for them. I need to do this to get past it. Martin of course won't like it and will beg me not to go talk to them. But I have to.I slip out from under his arm and pick up a Tshirt he left on the ground from last night. I take it in my hands and throw it over my messy silver hair till it covers me down to myClaire's POV "I'm sorry...I had to get away" he seems even more hurt from my words"not from you, from everything...so much is happening and nothing makes since anymore" I frown"It'll get better I promise, all this will pass" he says to me, his golden eyes bore into mine and his hand cups my cheek"I know" I get up on my knees and hug him"I won't be gone long" he tells me and I nodA pause settles and he continues to get ready "actually speaking of things happening I was planning on going to see my family..." I trail off looking up through my eyelashes at him, nervous of what he'll sayHe turns to me with knitted eyebrows"why" he says calmly but the edge to his voice makes me want to watch my next words. He starts to walk out of the room so I follow saying my next words as we glide down the wooden stairs."I want to get passed this drama with them...I can't stop thinking about it. I want to be the better person." I tell him honestly as we reac
Claire's POV We hear a loud sound to the left and both turn our heads. A moving truck is pulling out of my parents driveway, my family no where in sight. Unconsciously I walk over to my yard. Lena follows slowly behind me. The front door swings open and I glance into the empty space. The memories in this house filling my head. From the time I was young, Bervely and I playing together when she didn't dispise me. Memories of my family yelling at me for not being good enough, being the weak creature I am, or me simply being near them. But also the memory of Martin kissing me for the first time on this porch, the dinner we had together, and the time he saw me in hardly anything through my window the day he got here. My heart races at the thought and I find it hard to hate this house.I take one walk through the house, remembering and letting go...I deserve closure. I trail the steps up to my room, the place I found shelter and comfort. It's mostly empty. My bed is missing a
Claire's POV All of us freeze. Nobody moves a single muscle. I don't even breath. That can't be true....someone in the pack killed our alpha. The first sound to be heard across the house is shattering glass. The glass my Mother was holding is now in pieces on the floor. My eyes turn to her and I see her knees give out. My Father soon sweeps in and catches her before she collapses. He brings her to the couch, next to Bervely who has yet to stop gawking in shock at Sonia. My knees feel weak and I have to support myself against the couch.I hear footsteps but I don't register where or who they belong to. Soon I felt two hands on me and my head slowly turns, my face blank. Lena looks at me worriedly and scans the rest of the area. She can tell something very bad is happening. "What happened?!" She asks turning me to her, she practically holds me on my feet after my hands loose the grip on the couch.I don't respond. The memory of that day replays in my head. Uncle Kenn
Claire's POVI wake up to the sound of a loud annoying ringing, I cringe and snuggle closer to Martin's warm chest. I hear him growl and pull me closer to him as his arm removes it's self from my waist. It's been a week since we found out our Luna and alpha were murdered. School has been hell with everyone looking at pity, shock, anger, or jealousy towards me about something that's happened in the past few insane months. I've spoken to my family twice. I called my Mother to ask how she was doing and the day after Martin and me went over to tell them what information he has collected; I offered to go alone but he wanted to be with me.Their wasn't much more information, people are all shocked and in mourning all over again. We've looked at his books and he went to neighbouring packs weeks before his death and that's where Martin is looking next. I've tried to stay calm and busy. But I look at everyone in my pack differently...knowing there is a possibility someone here did it
Claire's POV The drive is nice and calm, the windows are rolled down and the fresh air is nice. School goes by in a blur, the whispers have lessened but still people are on edge. I'm a little nervous to meet Martin's Father...from what I've heard I should be. I hope he likes me and that the weak link rumour hasn't spread to him...the hell it would be.Bryat is right where I left him this morning, back to pick me up. Only now Lena is with him. She waves at me from the open car window, hair not its usual frizzy waves but straight and sleekly golden. Her eyes are lined with golden eye shadows, brown liner and a thick layer of mascara making her look absolutely stunning. Her smile glows against the red lipstick. Compared to her I look like a mess, I'm actually slightly intimidated.I smile and wave, climbing into the back I look at there outfits. Bryat is wearing dress pants and a collared white button up, his lean arms tightly wrapped in the material. Lena is in a short sa
Claire's POV Pulling up to the restaurant it's small and fancy. It's just outside of the pack forest but that doesn't keep the humans away. We get out and Martin takes my hand as we walk up, Bryat and Lena trailing behind us.He opens the door for us and the minute I step inside my heart pounds and I look for his Father. The group of alphas isn't hard to spot. The men all tower over the humans walking around them. They go to all sit down but I can still see all their muscular bodies and fierce faces, dark eyes scoping the area. I see four men. I automatically try to pick out which one is Maddoxs Brother and Father. My eyes land on a broad shouldered older man, his hair is dark with strands of silver streaking through. His eyes are blue unlike Martin but his sharp jaw and deep scowl makes it automatically known that this is his Father. He looks more intimidating than I expected. I remember the first time I met Martin his hard face and deep stare scared me...maybe his Father
Claire's POV"Please let me introduce everyone" Thoran stands "as you've met Jax" he nods "this is Herk, Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack" he gestures to the hazel eyed manI hesitantly move my eyes over to him, his smirk now a grin. He reaches out for my hand and I slowly take it to shake. But he grabs it and brings into his lips, eyes never moving from mine. "Nice to meet you miss..?""Claire" I say quickly and take back my hand"Claire" he says the name as if he already knows it but his eyes finally move from mine "nice to see you again Martin" he nods barley. I look next to me and he looks pissed, he makes no move to reply "you as well Bryat, and Lena you look as beautiful as ever" he smiles and Lena nods with a wary but still kind smile. Bryat pulls Lena closer to him and nods once."And this is Alpha Caleb and Luna Marcie" Thoran points to the remaining people "of the Lunar Pack"They bow to us "it's nice to finally meet you, I a
Claire's POV The sky looks dark and dull, grey clouds sweep across the open stary sky. Haunting moist air makes a chill go down my back. The woods around me are deathly quiet. The field I stand in is the furthest from the pack but still remains in the territory. I feel strangely strong, I feel as if I'm the brightest thing all around me, I look down at my skin and it seems as if I have captured the hidden sun.I'm startled to look over and see both my parents struck in fear as they look up at the full glowing moon, peaking from behind the clouds. My Mother is on her knees hands folded and my Father stands crouched with her. They both stare hypnoticly at the growing moon, with every second it gets bigger and pulses as if it's talking in anger. The next thing I see knocks me off my feet.Tara stands in her wolf form at the edge of the tree line. Growling and bearing her teeth. Her eyes look at me with pure deathly hatred. I try to scream but my vocal cords stay still as I
