"I can't believe we actually made it," Avery whispers to me as we enter the class at exactly 9:00 am. "I almost regretted doing the whole marathon thing.""Really?" I raise an eyebrow, finding it hard to believe."Keyword 'almost,'" she smirks, fully aware she'd do it all over again given the chance. With a smile and a shake of my head, we head toward our usual row, only to discover that it's completely occupied, as are the seats around us.I'm about to suggest to Avery that we sneak out after signing the attendance sheet and ask someone for notes later when she nudges my arm and nods toward the back row. "There are two seats in the back," she says, her eyes widening with an evil grin spreading across her face. Curious, I raise my head to see what's behind her Cheshire imitation. And when I do, I roll my eyes both at her and at the scene unfolding before me.Just great.Told you destiny had something planned for you today, Buffy chimes in."I take back what I said earlier," Avery rema
"That'll be $8.63, Eddie," I inform Edward, also known as Eddie, as he approaches the counter with six French macaroons.Eddie, a local senior citizen residing just a few streets away from the marketplace, is a cherished customer. He has been a regular visitor ever since Deborah and Lisa first opened one of their numerous branches. His order has always been consistent: six pistachio-flavored French macarons.Without fail, Eddie consistently declares that pistachio-flavored macarons are the finest creations since the debut of Mike and Ikes candies in 1940. This day was no exception."I've been saying it every day, and I'll say it again: pistachio macarons are the best thing since Mike and Ikes hit the scene in 1940," Eddie states, handing over a ten-dollar bill."Eh, Sour Patch Kids hold that distinction for me," I respond with a playful grin as I prepare to give him his change, prompting a light-hearted chuckle from him."Ah, that's right, you're into that sweet and sour stuff," Eddie
"You're unbelievable!" Mount Piper erupts again. "I don't charge for my company either!" She immediately defends. "What makes me any different from her?!""Oh, believe me," Max widens his eyes theatrically, exhaling deeply, intentionally getting under the girl's skin once more, "many, many things." Piper opens her mouth to retaliate, but Max promptly cuts her off. "Like for starters, if I recall correctly, you almost offered your 'services' to the entire football team before Ethan dragged you out of the locker room...but please, do correct me if I'm wrong."The entire team? Well, that's quite unexpected.Piper's jaw drops faster than Max's mood for a quickie would have plummeted if he were in the mood right now. Meanwhile, I'm finishing the last of my popcorn because things
From the start of the semester until this date, October 29, 2016, I've managed to accumulate twenty casual partners on my roster. Each individual possesses a unique quality that earned them a spot in my list, which is no small feat, considering my exacting standards.Casual Partner #1: Max, the Exception. A 20-year-old junior, Max is not just a handsome English major; he's a sexual virtuoso who knows it all too well. His prowess extends beyond imagination, leaving anyone who encounters him utterly speechless. Last night marked our third encounter, and it only left me craving more. Avery selected him as my subject for a reason, but did she anticipate that this man might be my ultimate downfall someday? After sessions with three different men - Shane, Joe, and Brandon - I couldn't help but admit that not even their combined efforts cou
"It's really disappointing that the gang can't join us for Halloween this year. We could have all gone as the 'Liquor Cabinet' together," Avery laments as we scour the Phantom Halloween Store for matching costumes for just the two of us.Today is Sunday, and as planned, Avery and I woke up early to spend the entire day together. We skipped breakfast to search for dresses for Loraine's and Darius's wedding at the Paseo Nuevo mall. After nearly three hours of browsing, we both managed to find something decent at Nordstrom. We then treated ourselves to a well-deserved lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and headed to the town's top-rated Halloween costume store to pick out outfits for UP's massive Halloween fest tomorrow night. We've been at the store ever since."Tell me about i
"Thank goodness," Avery breathes a sigh of relief as she spots me entering at four in the morning. I gently close the door behind me, and she wraps her arms around me in a tight embrace. "I sent you a few texts and tried calling to check how long you'd be gone, only to realize that your phone probably died.""Sorry about that," I chuckle softly, hugging her back. "I didn't notice my phone had died until I was almost here, so I didn't bother charging it in the car.""No worries now. You're back, you're safe, and you look much better than when you left," she remarks, studying me closely. "That's all that matters." I wink at her, silently acknowledging the accuracy of her entire statement. That's when I realize that Kalix is also present with Avery. Did they both actually wait
~Monday, October 31, 2016 - Halloween-Green, yellow, orange, red, blue.Blue, red, orange, yellow, green.Wow, it appears I've mixed up the order in which I'm munching on my Sour Patch Kids. This showcases my current state of boredom in Philosophy class. Now, where was I?Oh, right...Green, yellow, orange...My investigation into the candy packet grinds to a halt as I find it devoid of any remaining contents. I can't help but pout at this discovery; I seem to have devoured the entire package.
It's no exaggeration that UP was known for its party scene as much as its competitive admissions process. Since enrolling, there hasn't been a single week when I haven't attended at least one party. So, it made perfect sense for me to hit up as many Halloween parties as I could on this night. And let me tell you, I've been to my fair share of college Halloween parties, but no one does it quite like UP and Isla Vista's Halloween shutdown. In simpler terms, Del Playa is the place to be on Halloween.Avery, Kalix, and I explored the entire block, and every party we attended was a hit. Eventually, we decided to split up, with them heading back to ATO while I revisited Drew's place. The visiting UCLA football team and their entourage have kept me company, and let me tell you, these people know how to throw a party. The last hour has been a mix of classic throwback tunes, just as promised.
