Madison’s POV

My heart was jumping really fast; I was so scared and Tyler noticed how nervous I was.

“Maddy, is something wrong?”

I couldn't answer Tyler either; I was just scared to take the call. I was trying to make up my mind for either good or bad news; it was either my mom is awake or she is dead. I wasn’t emotionally ready for the latter.

“Your phone is ringing, Maddy; don't you want to take your call?"

I finally had the courage to take the call. I closed my eyes and said a brief prayer.

"Hello, Maddy, how are you?”

“I’m fine, Mrs. Rosaline.”

“Your mom is awake!" Mrs Rosaline said.

There was excitement in her voice; my mind was uplifted, my mind was at rest, and I stood up in great excitement.

“OMG!!!! When did she wake up? Where is she now? Is the doctor attending to her?”

“Your mom is still in her ward; she woke up a few minutes ago. And the doctor is here; I just thought to inform you first.”

“I’m on my way; I'll call Andy and Gem.”

I stood up and took my bag; I couldn't wai

Madison’s POV.“Calm down, Maddy; worrying won't make you find her.” Tyler said.“Calm down? You expect me to calm down? She is nowhere to be found and this place is almost empty. What will I tell my mom?”“You do not have to tell her anything, Maddy; she just got out of a coma. Do you want to send her back? Let’s just talk to a few people and see what information we can gather.”“I think we should involve the police, Tyler; I don’t want anything to happen to her. I am so scared.”“The police won't do anything; we have to wait for 24 hours before making a report. Let's just ask some more people; maybe they can give up useful information.”I asked around, and they pointed me to the host of the party, whose parents own the house. He took us upstairs, where there was less noise, so we could converse well.“Hello, my name is Madison and this is..."Tyler interrupted me before I could introduce him.“My name is Tyler Marshal, and I am her husband.I just rolled my eyes; he was doing too mu

Madison’s POV“What are you saying Maddy, how is that possible, isn’t she at home?” Andy exclaimed in shock. “Reduce your voice Andy, she left the house this morning to her friend’s place but when I texted her that Mum was awake, she told me she was at a party, that she couldn’t get a ride to the hospital, Tyler had to drive all the way but by the Time we got here her phone was off and no one has any information about her.”“This is not good Maddy, and when did Gem start attending parties, I thought she was supposed to be at her friend’s place, preparing for her exam.”“Please do not let mum hear of this, she will not be able to take the news.”“Where are you now?”“I’m still at the venue of the party, it’s empty already, I do not know what to do.”“Please come over to the hospital, mum is asking about you and Gem already, I don’t want her to get worried. ““I’ll be there soon.”I ended the call and used my hand to support my head, I was really worried, I hope nothing bad happened to

Madison’s POVWe didn't go beyond a kiss. We suddenly stopped when I saw his dick rising and my nipples became hard. It wasn't the right moment for us to make out. So we stopped, took a deep breath and Tyler continued driving. We got to the hospital and we made our way into my mother’s ward. I wasn't as tense as I was, and I wasn't nervous. Even though Gem was missing, I stayed calm, thanks to the kiss.We got in and I found Andy sitting outside my mom’s ward. We walked and approached him. I wasn't sure where Mrs. Rosaline would be but I guess she should be inside with my mum.“Good evening, sir.”Andy greeted Tyler politely before turning to greet me.“Do you have any useful information yet?”“No, Andy, all the people I asked didn't give us any useful information.”“This is scary Maddy; I know Gem, even though she is a handful, but she never stays this long without reaching out to me, even if it is with someone else's phone. I think we should file a missing person report.”“And who i

Madison’s POV“I gave birth to you, Maddy; you were the first human that popped out of me and made me a mother; I bounded with you closer than any of your siblings; I know when something is bothering you, you try to hide it in your heart but I can see through you the rate at which your heart beat changed and your palms are sweaty. What is wrong? You can talk to me.” My mum asked with a concerned look on her face.I sometimes hate the fact that my mother notices everything about me; she knows when I put up a fake smile and when something is bothering me. Sometimes it is good but not today. If I share what is bothering me, she might not be able to bear it; she might pass or something even worse.“I’m fine, mom; nothing is wrong with me; I am just happy and excited to be with you.”“Lies, I can feel the gaps in between your words. I know you are nervous, so tell me.”"It's nothing serious, mom, just me and Tyler having issues but we will be alright.”“Do you love him, Maddy?”Where did t

Tyler’s POV“You heard what he said. Maddy, you saw the text. Gem is fine; she is just having a hard time so she took a time out. It happens to everyone.” I tried to calm her down.“I know but I still have this weird feeling; something is not right. She wouldn't have texted me the address if she wanted to run away with her new-found lover.”“You worry too much; your sister will be fine; she will be back; just put your mind at rest.”“Please take me to Rebel Wolfs; I need some shots so I can sleep tonight; if not, I would be tossing and turning on my bed tonight.” Madison requested“But you just took a glass a few seconds ago.” I wasn’t going to let get drunk tonight.“More reasons why I need more.” She answered. We were already in my car by this time, and I could see the worry in her eyes. She was really worried about her sister, and I couldn't do anything to take the worry away. Judging from the message Gem sent to her boyfriend, she must be somewhere having fun by now.I drove Maddy

Tyler’s POVI smiled sheepishly as I stared at my phone. I was already turned on. I ignored the fact that Matthew was staring at me; I know he must be wondering what Maddy had on me.“I’m sure that text is from Maddy.” He eventually talked."Yes, it is.”“You are a finished man, Bro; that girl has used Voodoo on you. See the way you are blushing and smiling like a three-year-old? I wonder what she has on you.”“I don't care what she is using on me but I like the way I feel inside of her.”“Is it just about the sex for you? Are you sticking around her because of the sex?” Matthew asked.“I don't even know what I feel for her and I do not want to discover it. All I know is that I want her to be by my side. The pressure from my family is terrible, but she calms me down.”“By the time you realize what is happening to you, you would have fallen head over hills for her.” Matthew burst out laughing.“That is not possible Matthew, I cannot let my guards down like that, you know I am not capab

Tyler’s POV“Yuck!! Gosh!” I exclaimed.“I hate you, Tyler!” Madison said drunkenly.“Are you kidding? Aren’t you supposed to say sorry? Now I have to go home smelling like puke.”“That is what you get for being a bully.”Madison was very drunk; she didn't even know what she was doing at that point; her eyes were almost closed. Sophie handed me a napkin so I could clean my body.“Sorry about the mess, sir; do you need water and soap?”“No, it's fine; I'll just take her home. Who ordered these Tequila shots for her, by the way?”“It was the man who tried to assault her; he ordered the drinks for her.”"Alright, thanks. Get me my bill. Let me pay and go home.”“Do not worry about that, sir; Matthew said the drink is on the house.” Sophie informed me.“Why would he do that?”“He just wants to apologize for what happened here tonight.”“Alright, tell him a big thank you. Tell him that I will call him later.”“Alright sir.” Sophie replied and walked away.I stood up and held Maddy, she was

Tyler’s POVThe way she yelled showed that something serious just happened. I am not ready for another drama. I was hoping today was going to be a peaceful day. I just want sanity and calmness for once in my entire life.Maddy started crying; I didn’t even know where to start. She tossed her phone on the bed and I picked it up to see what was making her cry. I wasn’t ready for what I saw, and I was so shocked to my bones. It was a picture of Gem being held hostage.“They kidnapped her, Tyler; they said they are going to kill her.” She was sobbing louder now.I was so confused; the picture was sent by an unknown number.“No! No!! No!!”“Calm down, Maddy; nobody is going to kill her.” I didn’t know what words to use to console Maddy. She was wailing and I couldn't stop her. I became emotional; tears rolled down my eyes. I was holding her as she cried. I felt pity for her.“Try to call the number to find out what they want.”We dialled the number but it was switched off. Maddy was destab

I knew how important this event was, and my heart was racing with happiness as I waited for my bride. As I walked around in a classy and charming black suit, I couldn’t help but notice the little things that made my outfit special. The suit fit my body perfectly and hugged me in all the right places. The jacket had a slim fit that drew attention to my broad shoulders, and the pants were expertly made to make me look sharp and stylish. The fabric was a high-end mix of fine wool and silk. It had a light sheen that made the outfit look a little more glamorous. The suit’s black color was classic and timeless, which matched both my great taste and the seriousness of the event. A thin satin trim around the lapels added a modest but elegant touch that made the whole look better.A crisp white dress shirt t

Madison’s POVThree months laterAs Tyler and I entered the sleek, modern office building, a wave of anticipation and nervousness filled the air. The hallway seemed to stretch forever as we approached the glass doors leading to the boardroom. I could feel Tyler’s steady presence beside me, providing a reassuring anchor amid the storm of feelings brewing inside me.The moment we stepped into the meeting, all eyes turned towards us. The muted hum of talks stopped, replaced by the palpable tension that gripped the room. I kept a composed exterior, channeling the confidence Tyler had instilled in me throughout this ordeal.Leonard Byers, sitting at the head of the table, looked up from his papers, his expression shifting from indifference to shock as he registered my presence. The board members, accustomed to his authoritative demeanor, reflected his astonishment. Tyler and I moved confidently to an open space, ready to face the truth.“Miss Johnson,” Leonard stammered, trying to regain h

I wanted to be honest with Madison about everything.”My mom’s eyes narrowed further, her worry escalating into frustration. “Honest conversation? Tyler, after everything that happened in the past, you think you can just waltz back into my daughter’s life and have a ‘heart-to-heart’? What gives you that right?”Tyler sighed, understanding the gravity of the situation. “Mrs. Anderson, I know I messed up in the past. I hurt Madison, and I take full blame for that. But people can change, and I want to make amends. I love your daughter, and I want to be there for her.”My mom crossed her arms, her anger obvious. “Change? Love? Tyler’s POVI reassured myself, “Headaches are not unusual after a head injury. We’ll monitor her closely and adjust the treatment as required. The goal is to make her as comfortable as possible during the healing process.”Once Madison’s pain medication was administered, she started to relax, with the sharp pain gradually subsiding. Doctor Bennet turned to Madison’s mother with a serious look.“Mrs. Byers, I would like to discuss some important issues with you. Can you please join me in my office? We can talk more freely there,” Doctor Bennet offered.Madison’s mother looked concerned but nodded. “Of course, doctor. I’ll be right there. Madison, I’ll be back soon. Try to get some rest, sweetheart,” she said, gently kissing her daughter’s face.As Mrs. Byers stepped out of the room with Doctor Bennet, I looked at them with interest. • Thorns of the Heart   Chapter 194

Madison’s POVI lay on the narrow hospital bed, my eyes half-closed, trying to make sense of the fuzzy shapes around me. The sterile scent of the hospital room filled my nose, and the rhythmic beeping of machines provided a disconcerting soundtrack to my hazy thoughts. The pain on my side felt like a sharp jab, a constant reminder of something I couldn't quite grasp.I heard my mom's voice in the distance, a comforting murmur that reassured me, "You'll be fine, Madison. The doctors are taking care of you." It was a distant echo, like a lifeline connecting me to the world outside my foggy cocoon. I tried to focus on the words, to find solace in them, but the pain and dizziness were relentless.A nurse came in, her friendly face obscured by a mask, and checked the machines that surrounded me. "How are you feeling, sweetie?" the nurse asked, her voice a gentle melody. I managed a weak smile, attempting to convey that I was okay even though I wasn't entirely sure. The nurse adjusted some

Tyler’s POV"But what of her mum? How will I convince her I mean her daughter no harm?" I asked, my worry etched across my face. Dr. Bennett leaned back in his chair, considering the question. "Building trust with Madison's mother will also take time. It's crucial to be patient and show through your actions that your intentions are sincere. Avoid confrontations, be respectful, and give her the space she might need to process everything."I sighed, a mix of frustration and understanding. "I just don't want to be seen as the bad guy here. I genuinely care about Maddison, and I want her to have all the support she needs."Dr. Bennett nodded in agreement. "It's evident, Tyler. Just be yourself and focus on being a positive presence. Actions often speak louder than words, and with time, her mother may come to see your genuine concern for Maddison's well-being."Feeling a bit more assured, I nodded. "Thanks, Dr. Bennett. Your advice means a lot. I'll do my best to be patient and understandi

I raised my hand, and with a tentative knock, I announced my presence.“Come in,” a voice called from within the room.I pushed the door open and entered, finding a comfortable-looking office with a desk cluttered with papers. Dr. Bennett, with his graying hair, looked up from his work, offering me a reassuring smile.“Tyler, finally you are here. Please, have a seat,” he gestured towards the chair across from his desk.I hesitated for a moment, feeling a mix of nervousness and relief as he took the offered seat. The chair creaked slightly under his weight as he settled in, glancing around the room at the diplomas and medical charts adorning the walls.“Thanks, Dr. Bennett,” I mumbled, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. “Sorry I’m late. Got a bit turned around in this place. It’s like a maze.”Dr. Bennett chuckled warmly, “No worries, Tyler. Hospitals can be confusing. I’m
