Madison’s POV

I had nothing to say after hearing Dr Sarah say that so I just looked at Tyler to say something and he got that message. “We have been working a lot on our marriage after the passing of our coochie. Thanks for saying that. You just made our day.” He said simply and I smiled and nodded to her.

“I am glad to hear that. I have to really go now. This new client of mine isn’t as easy as you when you first came.” She said and we laughed and rounded up the call.

“Coochie?” I asked Tyler and he shrugged his shoulders. “You can’t blame me here. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I spoke about her.” He said simply and I nodded slowly.

“Well…it’s a good thing that you think of her. I thought you never do.” I told him and he frowned and then looked at me.

“Why would you say that? I do a lot but I am trying not to do so much because you have really come a long way from your healing and I don’t want to take your backward.” He said and hugged me from behind.

Madison’s POVShe got to where we were standing and then looked at Tyler while acting like I wasn't even there at all.“Where have you been? I have been asking your pathetic assistant to let me just speak to you. What's so wrong with that?” she asked and Tyler frowned deeply.“Her name is Victoria. Don't call her pathetic or you will be thrown out of this company.” Tyler told her.“Back to you. What gave you the guts to say that?” Brenda asked me.I looked around me to make sure that it wasn't me that she was referring to in such a rude manner. “Are you talking to me? Is there a loosed screw missing in your head?” I asked her without holding back. I was ready for her. If she wanted to cause a scene then I will cause a bigger scene. Since we were competing on who is more petty now.Tyler held my hand and interlocked out fingers to my greatest surprise.“What do you want to say to him? You can just say it here because I am not leaving and the only person that will be leaving here is you

Madison’s POVI got into the elevator and before it closed ,Tyler’s hand came in between and stopped it. He sighed and got inside it.We were quiet the whole time and it was as if he was waiting for me to talk first so I didn't. He was the one that needed to do some explanation. What am I even saying? Why does he need to? This isn't a real marriage after all.“Are you done thinking? Now can you talk and stop giving me an attitude?” he asked me and I scoffed but I didn't reply him.We got out of that elevator and I walked faster than him so it felt like he was chasing me. It was obvious that he did something wrong and people watched us.“Tell Victoria to go with what I said earlier today.” Tyler stopped and told someone. He nodded then left quickly.“Can you just stop walking so damn fast and wait for us to talk properly?” he asked and I stopped walking and turned around to look at him sharply.“I forgot to ask you.” I said and he smiled.“What is it? Why are you so moody all of a sudd

Madison’s POVWe didn't do much for that day. After talking for a bit, we took a stroll down to that park that was close to her house. It gave me more room to think about how I was feeling.“Are you feeling okay now? You seemed to still have a lot on your mind so I brought you here.” she asked me while pushing me on the swing and I smiled.“It's helping a lot. Thank you.” I told her and she nodded.“So how about you tell me about what happened with Phil? I only heard about it from the news.” she asked me and we went to take our seats.“I was with Mrs Sophia’s daughter when he called and threatened me to come outside. He said that if I didn't come turn he wound make a scene and if that media see an ex making a scene then it would be like we were planning to get back together. I didn't want that so I went to meet him foolishly.” I started and she laughed.“I am glad you added foolishly. What you did was indeed foolish, Madison.” she laughed and I nodded slowly.“I know and I regretted g

Rose’s POVI got to the office in time and Mr Leonard ended up firing the six people that came late. No one said a word and we all just kept following his lead. If you say a word against what he said then he could fire you.He changed the way we did things and even changed out day offs which ruined my day. While working I got a message I looked at the person’s name. I got excited when I saw Andy’s name but then frowned once again.“What is it?” I messaged him and he started typing immediately.“You replied my message. I need to celebrate that!” he replied to me and I rolled my eyes.“What do you want? I am working right now and you are distracting me.” I messaged him.“I am working also so we are both taking a risk. That's a good sign isn't it?”“If you aren't saying anything tangible then I will block you right now.” i messages him and he reacted my messages with a crying emoji.“I just wanted to remind you of our date tonight. Rose’s POVI stopped kissing him then moved backwards. He looked really surprised afterwards and then I cleared my throat. “You were really late but I will forgive you for this once. Let's go.” I said and was about to walk past him but then he held me back by my arm.“Wait.” he said.“What is it?” I asked him while trying to act dumb. I didn't want us to talk about what just happened a few moments ago.“Can we please talk about this? I am tired of being confused.” he said and then pointed to both of us.“What's confusing you? You are Madison’s brother and I am Madison’s best friend. I am also older than you with two years. Is there anything that you would like to know?” I asked him and he face palmed himself and then nodded.“Sorry for what I did earlier. It was a mistake.” he said and I felt as if someone just hit me in my heart.“Let’s just go on the date and forget about all this. I am tired of being confused. I will rather be with someone that's not scared to talk about her feelin

Madison’s POVAfter Mrs. Sophia caught us in that position I went to my room to freshen up while Tyler just went away. We kept pretending like nothing happened.“It’s for the best.” that was the line that I kept saying to myself to keep me in sane.“Maddy.” a voice was heard outside my room door and I opened it and saw Acquila. A smile spread across my lips and I carried her up.“How are you? Who brought you here?” I asked her.“It was Grandma. Mummy is at work right now and I just got back from school.” she said slowly and I nodded then held her tightly so that she wouldn't fall down.“Does your grandma know that you are here? The last time you came here, mummy was angry. Did you tell her this time?” I asked her and she nodded.“Yes, I told her. I said that I wouldn't go Inside the room but wait for you to come outside and meet me there.” she said and I smiled.“That’s good. Come on let’s go downstairs.” I said her and then placed her down. Madison’s POVWe looked at each other in shock then back at the television. “What is she doing in the news? What does she plan on saying now?” I asked Tyler and he shrugged his shoulders.“Let’s just see if it’s serious then I will do something about it.” He said and I nodded. We waited for them to talk till they reached the reason why Brenda was with them.“Miss Brenda requested to talk on today’s news to formally apologize to Mr and Mrs Tyler for the trouble that she caused them so far.” The journalist said and I scoffed. What game was she playing right now?“What’s going on? Why is she saying sorry?” Tyler asked me and I rolled my eyes.“We are both watching it now so let’s see. It’s your ex so you should have a hint about what she is about to do. Don’t you?” I asked him.“I don’t Maddy. Don’t talk about her as if she is important to me. Madison’s POVWe got home and Tyler still had an angry look in his face so I held his hand. “You look really intimidating when you are angry.” I told him and he laughed.“Really? I never knew that and no one told me about it.” He said and I was the one laughing now.“My brother is now dating my best friend how sweet is that?” I asked him with a smile on my face and he looked surprised.“Don’t you have a problem with it? Some people do have a problem with it.” He asked me and I shook my head.“I don’t have a problem with it. They aren’t kids. They are adults and if it gets to a time when they don’t want to be together anymore then they don’t have to fight about it. They can easily go their separate way. I won’t be losing my best friend because of their breakup though.” I explained and he nodded.“That’s such a positive mentality but then we have to talk about the bad side too.” He said and I nodded.“Which bad side?” I asked him.“The fact that one of them could cheat or something like

Tyler’s POVI was feeling a mix of joy and nervousness as I stood in front of the altar. Finally, the day Madison and I would be married was here. It was the moment I had been waiting for. I knew how important this event was, and my heart was racing with happiness as I waited for my bride. As I walked around in a classy and charming black suit, I couldn’t help but notice the little things that made my outfit special. It had a light sheen that made the outfit look a little more glamorous. The suit’s black color was classic and timeless, which matched both my great taste and the seriousness of the event. A thin satin trim around the lapels added a modest but elegant touch that made the whole look better.A crisp white dress shirt t

The muted hum of talks stopped, replaced by the palpable tension that gripped the room. I kept a composed exterior, channeling the confidence Tyler had instilled in me throughout this ordeal.Leonard Byers, sitting at the head of the table, looked up from his papers, his expression shifting from indifference to shock as he registered my presence. The board members, accustomed to his authoritative demeanor, reflected his astonishment. Madison’s POV“What’s going on in here?” my mom asked, my eyes narrowing as I took in the emotional environment.I quickly wiped away my tears, trying to calm myself. “Mom, we’re just talking,” I said.Tyler nodded in agreement, his eyes never leaving mine. “We’re having a heart-to-heart. I wanted to be honest with Madison about everything.”My mom’s eyes narrowed further, her worry escalating into frustration. “Honest conversation? Tyler, after everything that happened in the past, you think you can just waltz back into my daughter’s life and have a ‘heart-to-heart’? What gives you that right?”Tyler sighed, understanding the gravity of the situation. “Mrs. Anderson, I know I messed up in the past. I hurt Madison, and I take full blame for that. But people can change, and I want to make amends. I love your daughter, and I want to be there for her.”My mom crossed her arms, her anger obvious. “Change? Love? Tyler’s POVI reassured myself, “Headaches are not unusual after a head injury. We’ll monitor her closely and adjust the treatment as required. The goal is to make her as comfortable as possible during the healing process.”Once Madison’s pain medication was administered, she started to relax, with the sharp pain gradually subsiding. We can talk more freely there,” Doctor Bennet offered.Madison’s mother looked concerned but nodded. “Of course, doctor. I’ll be right there. Madison, I’ll be back soon. Try to get some rest, sweetheart,” she said, gently kissing her daughter’s face.As Mrs. Byers stepped out of the room with Doctor Bennet, I looked at them with interest. • Thorns of the Heart   Chapter 194

Madison’s POVI lay on the narrow hospital bed, my eyes half-closed, trying to make sense of the fuzzy shapes around me. The sterile scent of the hospital room filled my nose, and the rhythmic beeping of machines provided a disconcerting soundtrack to my hazy thoughts. The pain on my side felt like a sharp jab, a constant reminder of something I couldn't quite grasp.I heard my mom's voice in the distance, a comforting murmur that reassured me, "You'll be fine, Madison. The doctors are taking care of you." It was a distant echo, like a lifeline connecting me to the world outside my foggy cocoon. I tried to focus on the words, to find solace in them, but the pain and dizziness were relentless.A nurse came in, her friendly face obscured by a mask, and checked the machines that surrounded me. "How are you feeling, sweetie?" the nurse asked, her voice a gentle melody. I managed a weak smile, attempting to convey that I was okay even though I wasn't entirely sure. The nurse adjusted some

Tyler’s POV"But what of her mum? How will I convince her I mean her daughter no harm?" I asked, my worry etched across my face. Dr. Bennett leaned back in his chair, considering the question. "Building trust with Madison's mother will also take time. It's crucial to be patient and show through your actions that your intentions are sincere. Avoid confrontations, be respectful, and give her the space she might need to process everything."I sighed, a mix of frustration and understanding. "I just don't want to be seen as the bad guy here. I genuinely care about Maddison, and I want her to have all the support she needs."Dr. Bennett nodded in agreement. "It's evident, Tyler. Just be yourself and focus on being a positive presence. Actions often speak louder than words, and with time, her mother may come to see your genuine concern for Maddison's well-being."Feeling a bit more assured, I nodded. "Thanks, Dr. Bennett. Your advice means a lot. I'll do my best to be patient and understandi

I raised my hand, and with a tentative knock, I announced my presence.“Come in,” a voice called from within the room.I pushed the door open and entered, finding a comfortable-looking office with a desk cluttered with papers. Dr. Bennett, with his graying hair, looked up from his work, offering me a reassuring smile.“Tyler, finally you are here. Please, have a seat,” he gestured towards the chair across from his desk.I hesitated for a moment, feeling a mix of nervousness and relief as he took the offered seat. The chair creaked slightly under his weight as he settled in, glancing around the room at the diplomas and medical charts adorning the walls.“Thanks, Dr. Bennett,” I mumbled, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. “Sorry I’m late. Got a bit turned around in this place. It’s like a maze.”Dr. Bennett chuckled warmly, “No worries, Tyler. Hospitals can be confusing. I’m
