AURELIA'S P.O.V
Halfway into cutting my steak, I hear Thorne's voice, I should totally not call him that, "So Aurelia, how did you and Cooper meet?"
"Well uh, it was through a friend that we met. My bestfriend's dating Cooper's friend and she suggested that we all went on a double date. Things sort of just hit off from there." Underneath the table, Cooper grabs my hand and rubs it softly as I look at him with a smile which he reciprocates.
"Awwn aren't they so cute." Caroline coos, and I blush in embarrassment before returning my attention back to my meal.
"Dad, Aurelia's actually a nurse and you wouldn't believe that she works at your hospital." My head snaps to look at him in surprise as I begin choking on a piece of meat at his words, why hadn't he ever mentioned this to me?
"Easy there." Cooper rubs my back as he hands me a glass of water.
"Oh really? Now that's a shocker. Beauty with brains."
"I uh..I didn't know that Sir as Cooper never told me, but I must say I really love working the hospital." I say, trying to ease the tension.
"It's alright, I'm sure Cooper kept it a secret so as to not make things awkward." I hold back a snort at Thorne's words. "And please call me Thorns."
The conversation carries on fairly comfortably until Cooper speaks.
"May I have all your attention please." We all keep quiet as we look at him, he seemed a bit nervous.
"Thanks, firstly I'd like to thank you all for being here." Then he turns to look at me as he takes my hand in his. "Lia, I honestly don't know where to start. Ever since I met you, I felt like I had found my missing piece. Every time spent with you felt like I had all the happiness in the world, I hated being away from you and I hated having issues with you." Okay what the fuck is going on? I sort of had an inkling as to where this was heading to but I hoped it wasn't what I was thinking. "You're my happiness Aurelia and I want to be yours forever." Just then, he fishes out a small box from his pocket and opens it to reveal a beautiful ring, Oh God, "What I'm trying to say is, will you marry me Aurelia Mia Rowland?" A wave of emotions overwhelm me as I hear Caroline cheering at us, Thorne looking at us with a slight smile, and Cooper looking at me hopefully urging me to say yes.
"Uh...I....I....yes." Caroline cheers, Cooper smiles as he kisses me while fixing the ring onto my finger before walking over to his dad who hugged him, giving him a pat on the back as Caroline hugs me warmly.
"I'm proud of you Son." Thorne smiles at Cooper who reciprocates the gesture.
"Congratulations Aurelia." He says, pulling me into a hug and I swear his touch felt all so familiar. He released me a second later as we all returned to our seats, Caroline more chattery, Cooper and his father talking a bit more about business and I......well I felt lost.
Finally, the dinner came to an end and I couldn't be more grateful to go home and just be by myself. But just before Conner and I left, Caroline pulled me aside.
"Is everything alright dear?" She asked softly, her voice laced with genuine concern which touched me.
Returning her smile I nod, "Yeah sure I am, I'm just tired."
"I understand, it's been a long night for everyone especially with the proposal. Oh I'm so happy for you both." She smiled enthusiastically as she pulled me in for a hug which I couldn't help but return. Saying our goodbyes to both parent, Cooper and I left.
We had been driving for quite a while in silence until Cooper spoke.
"Well that didn't go so bad babe, the dinner was lovely and my parents loved you." I didn't have the willpower in me to respond so I just let out a low hum while still staring out the window.
"Babe...you okay?" I remain silent not knowing how to answer his question. Was I okay? Was I ready for this big new step?
"Babe?" Coopers voice startles me out of my reverie as my neck turns to look at him.
"Yeah? Sorry I..I..um"
"What's wrong baby? Talk to me." Taking my hand in his, he raised it up to his lips and placed a kiss at the back of my hand while still keeping his eyes on the road.
I keep silent for a while, not really sure on how to put my words out to him in the best way possible but then I just decide to be out with it.
"Why did you propose to me?"
"What do you mean babe? I proposed to you because I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
"And you just had to propose to me in the presence of your parents knowing fully well that I couldn't refuse? We're still trying to move past our most recent issue and then you just go ahead and do that? Cooper that's not right." At this time we were pulling up to my apartment building.
"Babe c'mon, the fact that we just came out of a recent issue shouldn't be a problem for us not to get engaged. And besides I see nothing wrong with me proposing to you before my parents."
"It's my first time meeting them, how do you propose to your girlfriend when she meets your parents for the first time? I thought this dinner was just to get to know each other?" He remains silent, biting his lips as he looks away.
Realization dawns on me as I clench my jaw, "Or not, you just wanted to put me in a situation where I couldn't refuse you Cooper. And that's fucking low, even for you." He turns to look at me and I see him slightly flinch upon seeing the hard look in my eyes.
"Babe you're just tired okay, sleep over the events of tonight and you'll realize that tonight wasn't even a big deal. Okay, i'm sorry." I listen to his words in shock as he leans forward to kiss my forehead. Pulling away, he smiles at me as he rubs my cheek but I just scoff in disbelief.
"Fuck you Cooper." And with that I storm out of his car in anger, leaving behind a very flustered Cooper.
Aurelia's P.O.VI feel a wave of emotions rush through me as I stood alone in the comfort of my bathroom, staring at the stick which showed two very clear lines indicating I was pregnant. This couldn't possibly be happening, I had been so sure that I had used a morning after pill after that night. No no no this couldn't be happening, what would I tell Cooper? Would he even accept it? It had been exactly two weeks since the dinner I had with Cooper and his parents and we hadn't been on the best of terms, safe to say I couldn't bring up the news of this pregnancy to him. Just then, I hear the sound of my doorbell so I place the pregnancy test on the sink and head for the door. As soon as I see who's on the other side, I let out a sigh of relief to which she hurriedly pulls me in for a hug as she closes the door behind her."Hey what's wrong Lia, you sounded terrified on the phone. Are you okay? Did anything happen to you or Cooper?" Celia's questions overwhelm me and I'm unable to utter
Thorne's P.O.VSitting up in bed while resting against the bedhead, I glance down at a sleeping Caroline. She looked so peaceful and beautiful, irrespective of the fact that our marriage isn't what it used to be. There were happy times, times when we used to be madly in love, when it was just I, Caroline and our son. But things went downhill so quickly it's difficult to pinpoint when it all began. I notice her stirring awake and not wanting to be caught staring, I head into the bathroom to freshen up. The day's relatively normal with me overseeing the affairs of the hospital and soon enough I was back home getting ready to meet Cooper and his girlfriend."You clean up nice as always." I hear Caroline speak from behind me, causing me to look at her. She looked stunning as always."As do you." I say walking up to her, taking her hand in mine and bringing it closer to my lips for a kiss. "You look beautiful Care." I see her eyes soften for a moment, the wall built between us cracking b
AURELIA'S P.O.VLaying on bed on my left side with my palm supporting my head, I can't help but nibble on my finger while staring out into space, the quiet bustle of the city reaching my ears while lost in thought. I had three months to tie the knot with Cooper, unconsciously, my eyes dart towards the direction of the shiny diamond ring sitting pretty on my bedside table, involuntarily I exhale deeply. As I continue to mule over the recent happenings, my alarm rings out snapping me out of my thoughts. Sluggishly, I drag myself out of bed making my way into the bathroom. Resting my palms on both sides of the wash-basin, I stare back at my reflection in the mirror and can't help but sigh again. I looked awful. Perhaps going to work would do me some good, take my mind off things. Taking my time, I slip under the shower allowing the cold water droplets soothe my nerves, washing away my worries for a moment. I spend about 20 minutes under the shower, just enjoying the serene calmness and
AURELIA'S P.O.VFlipping through my nursing notepad, I smile in greeting at the few familiar faces as I strolled down the hospital hall, heading to check-up on my next patient. Approaching the private room, I knock twice alerting the patient of my presence before stepping into the room. Mrs Craig lay on the bed with a novel in hand, a pleasant smile stretching across her lips as she looks at me, I return the smile."Well hello there," I greet, pulling the side stool by the corner close to her bed and then plopping on it, "How are you feeling Mrs Craig?""I'm alive, I guess that counts for something." She grins mischievously, causing me to chuckle."Yeah I guess so, have you been abiding by the doctors' rules? No sweet foods?" I give her a playful stern look. Mrs Craig had been diagnosed with type-2 diabetes. She had been rushed into the hospital as a result of a heart-attack but luckily she had been stabilized. At the age of 72 I'd say she was rather strong and agile, she was a fighte
AURELIA'S P.O.VIt had been three days since Thorne's visit to the hospital and to say I was unperturbed would be an understatement of the season. If his aims were to ruffle my feathers then he had been more than successful.*Although, I cannot imagine how much more there is to see after that night Aurelia.* Those were his exact words, words which haunted me, kept me up at night which could only mean one thing. He remembered, and I had a feeling he wasn't gonna let it slide so easily.Needing to take my mind off things, I decide to get a pet to keep me company. I couldn't always depend on Celia to keep me company knowing she had her own life to manage, so I was going to get a pet....my very own baby.Soon enough, I had arrived at the pet shop and approached the lady behind the counter with a polite smile to which she returned."Hi, welcome to Milly's pet store. What can I do for you?" She chirped."Uh i'd like to get a pet.""Alright, do you have any particular pet in mind? Cats, dogs
AURELIA'S P.O.VI had chosen an armless black dress with a high slit on my left leg, which had a halter neck, paired with a white purse and transparent pointy heels. I was in no way slender or model-like, no...I was thick, borderline plus size. I had wide hips and a somewhat large bum which accentuated my thick thighs, waist not too slim and C-sized cups. I was not always the most confident about my body but I knew I looked good, better than good.Stepping out of my room once I was dressed and spritized, I walked over to Lucy who seemed to be asleep, but raised her head up to look at me upon hearing my footsteps."What do you think sweetheart? Does mommy look good?" I asked as I twirled before her, I doubt she understood what I said but still she let out a meow, walking over to me and brushing her fur on my exposed leg.Giggling, I squat as I run my fingers through her fur. She seemed to be enjoying it by the way she wagged her tail, letting out a soft purr. Just then, the doorbell r
THORNE'S P.O.VStepping into the house I let out a sigh of relief upon noticing that the lights were off which could only mean one thing, Caroline was most likely asleep and I couldn't be more thankful for that especially after the day I had. Having to run a multinational business was no child's play, I loved my job but there were good days and then there were those days. Today being one of those days. I trudge up the stairs quietly, careful not to make any sounds so as not to wake Caroline only to be met with with a rather astounding surprise upon entering my room. Seated on one of the couches in my room was Caroline with a glass of wine in hand, the bottle of wine on the table as well as another glass. She was clothed in a silk red spaghetti-strapped nightdress, the red silk coat drooping slightly exposing her shoulder."Caroline," I speak, shutting the door behind me, "To what do I owe the surprise?" My words holding no other emotion except tiredness, I needed to sleep. Walking in
AURELIA'S P.O.VThe night had been pleasant so far, but just when I thought it was all over, i couldn't have been more wrong as Cooper had other plans in mind, which led up to this very moment, going to his apartment.Pulling up to the front of his apartment building, I was about opening the car door when Cooper halted me, stepping out of the car and coming over to my side, opening the car door for me like a gentleman with an open palm which I took."Why thank you." A smile stretches across my lips which he returns as I step out of the car, one leg after the other."Of course my lady, anything for you." He says in a fake british accent, causing a giggle to escape me. Soon enough, we made our way into his apartment, the familiar abode welcoming. I feel Cooper come up behind me, lightly kissing my shoulder and then my neck as his hands caressed my waist. Sighing lightly, I shut my eyes briefly for a moment trying to enjoy the moment. Spinning on my heels, our lips meet in a soft kiss cau
