“GOSH! My daughter looks pretty on her uniform, don't you think, hon?” her mother said the moment she arrived inside the dining area for breakfast.

Everyone looked at her and she suddenly felt awkward after seeing how her stepbrothers eyed her from head to foot.

She's wearing a wrist-length plated pink skirt, white button-up polo covered with a pink blazer that has the logo of their school at her chest, black shiny mary joy shoes, and knee-length socks. A perfect image for a high school girl.

“She is,” Hermano agreed. “Have a seat, Sey.”

She showed her tight smile before walking towards the chair right next to Carson. She awkwardly took her seat as he felt some stares coming from her stepbrothers.

“Your brother, Hunter will take you to school, is that okay with you?” Hermano asked.

Krysie lifted her gaze to her stepbrother who's now silently eating and didn't even bother to disagree with what his father said.

Is he planning something?

“S-sure.” She doesn't wanna look rude or something that's why she agreed.

Maybe this is the right time for her to be close with the eldest. She observed that Hunter seldomly speaks unlike Elias who's mouth is rude and Carson who's jolly and talkative.

“I think your skirt was just too short,” said Carson after they finished their silent breakfast.

Krysie forced a smile. “This is fine, Kuya. And besides, I'm wearing shorts underneath.”

Carson nodded his head. They are waiting for Hunter's car to move out of the garage because he'll be the one to take them to their school.

She can't understand why they have to use a single car on their way to their jobs when there is plenty of sports car parked inside their wide and big garage.

“Sey!”

Carson and Krysie looked at the person who called her and she smiled after seeing her mother running towards their direction; bringing a lunch box which she thinks is for her.

“You forgot your lunch,” her mom said and handed her the lunch box.

Krysie murmured both sorry and thank you. She immediately slid the box inside her bag and faced her mother who's now talking to Carson.

“Take care of your stepsister, Carson.” Her mom looked at her. “If someone's trying to court you, tell it immediately to your stepbrother. Did you get me?”

Krysie smiled and nodded her head.

“No worries, Millet,” Carson said. “Rest assured that I'll monitor her every single minute.”

“Good to know that.” Her mom smiled. “I can still remember her first year in high school wherein after school, plenty of guys knocked on her door and courting her.”

Krysie scratched the back of her ears. Her mother still remembers that one.

Hunter beeped his car making Krysie jolt in surprise. She heard Carson chuckled which she immediately shot glares.

“We'll go ahead.” Carson kissed her mom's cheeks before he opened the door behind the driver's seat to let her in.

Carson told her to move on the other side and that's what she did. She silently moved herself to the other side of the car and caught Elias looking at her from the rearview mirror.

She cleared her throat and buckled her seatbelt. She tried averting her gaze and attention outside the window as Hunter maneuvered the car.

“Hey, baby,” Carson called her attention.

She looked at him and confusion flashed through her face when he placed a brand new phone in her hand. “Our numbers are inside of that phone. You are not allowed to give your numbers, especially to boys. Did you get me?”

Krysie nodded her head as she felt a lump on her throat upon hearing how Carson's voice appeared to be.

She silently checked the phone and proceeded to the contacts list. And what Carson said was right. The contact list has only five contacts: Carson; Hunter; Elias; Mommy; and Hermano.

ELIAS can't help himself by glancing at the woman behind his chair who's now peacefully sleeping and her head is leaning against the cold metal of the car's window frame.

“I'm glad she had no boyfriends nor ex's,” Carson said while looking at her stepsister.

“That's impossible,” Elias replied. “She just fooled you.”

“I investigated her,” Hunter interjected. “And yeah. She has no records of being linked with other guys.”

“Though she's been the center of attraction of the boys on her former school.” Carson clenched his jaw. “Her mom said many guys are courting her since her first high school year.”

“You sound jealous,” Elias smirked.

Carson just rolled his eyes and look at their stepsister who's now taking a nap and looking so uncomfortable with her napping position.

Elias took a deep breath and choose to look outside.

Looking at her would only make his head in chaos.

“YOU'LL go to my office after school, did you get me?” Carson told her the moment they took a step inside their school.

She bit her lip and nodded her head like an obedient grade school student being instructed by a parent. “Yes, Kuya.”

Carson smiled and tapped her shoulders lightly. He offered to take her to her first class which is Biology.

Along their journey towards her first class, she can't help herself taking her time wandering her eyes around. From the busy students whose eyes are looking at them like a hawk to the structures of the building. This school is quite huge.

“Do you like it here?” Carson asked.

She nodded politely. “Yes, Kuya.”

They stopped at the closed door. Carson faced her and pinched her cheeks. Krysie set aside the awkwardness she's feeling because of the stares coming from the students.

“Take care okay? If you can't find my office, just text using the phone I provided. Stay away from guys,” he said.

Krysie nodded her head. Carson excused himself to attend his first subject and know she's left alone in front of a closed door. She can't help herself to chew her bottom lip and knocked on the door.

“Hi,” she greeted with a wide smile as soon as the door opened.

The professor raised her right brow while eyeing her from head to foot that made her feel awkward. “Who are you?”

“Uhm...” She scratched the back of her ear. “I'm Krysie Forsuello. Transferee.”

After hearing her name, the professor immediately plastered her smile and opened the door wider to let her in.

Krysie smiled and nodded her head before walking inside the classroom. She roamed her eyes around and found that everyone was looking at her like a lost woman who's standing in front of them.

She can feel how the boys eyed her like they're scanning her whole fucking system. She felt uncomfortable with her uniform all of a sudden. Maybe Carson was right. Her skirt may be too short.

“Introduced yourself, Miss.” The professor interrupted her deep thoughts.

Krysie cleared her throat and force to lift a smile. “Hi, good morning. My name's Krysie Forsuello. I'm eighteen.”

Everyone was gone silent. They're just staring at her like a stranger when suddenly someone spoke.

“Are you single?” asked the guy wearing a piercing on his left ear and has this bad boy get up.

She nodded. “Yes, I am.”

The guy plastered a smirk and that smirk almost made her shiver. “Good.”

Irritating silence fills the classroom once again. Girls inside the room were rolling their eyes at her, some are looking at her with envy, and some just give her a tight smile.

“Okay. I'm Arielle Leondale, your professor in Biology. Please take your seat,” the professor said.

Krysie nodded her head and started making strides towards an empty seat beside the guy wearing eyeglasses. She finds him cute, really. And he was busy doodling some cartoons at the back of his notebook.

She silently sat beside him and take a quick look at the cute guy's notebook. She thinks he noticed it because he closed the notebook right away and he turned his head to look at her.

And she was wrong... He wasn't just cute. He's handsome! His blue eyes just made him appear cute and freakin' handsome and the same time.

“Hi,” she said.

The cute guy looked away and decided to take a nap. Krysie pursed her lips and sat properly. That's a clue. He doesn't like her and she'll never bother him again.

AFTER the long day of school, she felt exhausted. What's funny is that she never gained a friend. She feels like everyone was so distant to her and it made her wonder if she'd done something wrong or if something's wrong with her.

Nobody even talked to her and that made her sad. On the first day of school and nobody tried to approach her. It's sad, indeed. Or maybe she's not just good at socializing.

“Hey!”

Krysie halted on her spot and turned her head to look at the person who called her. “Me?”

It was the bad boy of Biology!

“Yes, you.” He walked towards her and stopped in front of her. “You going home?”

Is he hitting on me? Or am I just assuming something? “Yeah. Going to my brother's office actually.”

“Brother? Your brother is a professor?” he asked. “By the way, I'm Ivan. We're classmates on biology.”

She bit her lip and nodded her head. “Uhm, yeah I have a brother.”

“Who?”

“Carson Adamson,” she replied. She immediately pursed her lips when he remembered Carson said that she must stay away from guys. “Anyway, Ivan, I have to go. My brother's waiting for me. Let's talk some other time.”

“Some other time?” Ivan lends her his phone. “Can I ask for your number then?”

Krysie was hesitant. She's thinking twice if ever she'll give her number or make excuses just to get away from the situation.

Between the battle of her mind, she decided on accepting his phone and fished her phone from the pocket of her skirt. She copied her number and saved it on his phone.

Krysie handed him his phone. “I'll go ahead.”

“Wait!” Ivan said. “Do you know where his office is?”

She paused with that realization. Yeah, she doesn't know where the hell on earth she would her brother's office. Adamson Academy is a really big campus, indeed. She might get lost if no one's going to tour her around.

“Well?” She shrugged. “Maybe I could just eni-mini-mayni-moe the way.”

Ivan chuckled and she admits, he's handsome as well. But not as handsome as his brothers.

Okay? Where the hell did that thought came from?

“I can walk you there, you know,” he offered.

Krysie twisted her lips, contemplating his offer. Seconds later she nodded her head. “Okay.”

She saw how a smirk formed on Ivan's lips which she just shrugged off.

“So, which school did you came from?” he asked on their way to Carson's office.

Krysie smiled tightly. “Uhm, I hope you won't mind if I don't answer that one.”

Ivan just nodded her head. Krysie silently prayed that may they arrived at their destination as soon as possible. She's feeling awkward!

“Do you have past boyfriends?” he asked again.

Krysie forced a chuckle. “None.”

HE GLANCED at his phone once again to check for any messages from Sey. It's already past five and she's still not here. She didn't even bother texting him where she is.

Carson continues making lesson plans when suddenly, he heard some noises— no. He heard two voices talking and the other one was very familiar.

“Yeah. Thank you for walking me here,” he heard her said.

“No problem. I'll go ahead.”

“Bye.”

Carson clenched his jaw and stood. He walked towards his closed door and turned the knob to open it. Just as when Krysie raised her fist to knock on his door.

“K-Kuya...” she called him in a soft voice and damn it's washing away his irritation. “Are y-you mad?”

He looked away and cleared his throat. “Who the hell is that bastard you're with a while ago?”

CARSON was silent all their way out of the campus. After he asked that question, he didn't even bother to wait for her reply and just told her to wait outside his office.

She has no idea of his sudden behavior right now. She badly wants to ask but she's thinking twice though. What if he'll only get irritated if she'll spit out a question?

“Kuya,” with all the courage she had, she called him. “Are you mad at me?”

He didn't listen. He just kept walking like he doesn't hear her. Krysie pursed her lips when she felt her chest tightened in sadness.

She tried making her strides two times faster to level him and held his shirt to call his attention. “Kuya...”

“What?” he asked in a very cold voice.

She encircled her arms around him and that made him halt. She nuzzled on his neck, not minding if they are in public. There are no students around anyway.

“I'm sorry,” she said in a low voice. “I don't know what have I done to make you mad at me.”

She's in puzzle. Does Carson had mood swings? Why is he getting mad at her when she've done no wrong towards him?

“I told you to text me if you can't find my office and stay away from guys. But you came along on my office with a bastard,” he said.

Krysie tightened her embrace. She doesn't know how to comfort or soothe someone's mood. She never had a brother nor sister in her life that's why she's grasping inside her mind what she should do.

She pulled away from the hug and looked up at him. “H-how can I make it up to you?”

Carson stared at her. Like he's reading her mind and soul through her eyes. “Make it up to me?”

She nodded like a scolded child. Hell, she's still keening on winning Elias and Hunter's hearts for a better life inside the mansion. And Carson being distant is something doesn't want to happen.

“Cuddle with me tonight...”
