Starvos immediately stood up on his seat. He frowned as he realized what was wrong with the suggestion that Mona gave. He immediately sat back down to his seat and sighed, “But I have to be going head on to the castle, alone right?”

“This is what I want to ask you to do,” Mona said, as she tapped the cross that she had given to him, “If you hold to this cross, it will help you to connect with my magic. Meaning, I don’t have to be sticking close beside you to protect you. I can simply whisper a spell whenever I think you need and for you to use it.”

“What do you mean?” Starvos was sure that this was Mona’s own way to shoo him off, as if to prepare him so he could go to the war.

“I want you to go to the castle and capture the Duke,” said Mona at once, revealing her plan. “I can’t let those children suffer alone. Especially not Rose. Not her.”
