Chapter 53

Author: Full of Luck
Niamh was wearing a helmet, so no one could see the pale, panicked expression on her face. Fortunately, the motorcycle had barely picked up speed, so she wasn't going too fast.

Beau had been thrown forward onto the fuel tank, his helmet slamming against the dashboard.

"Ugh!" He winced as his chest took the impact, making him cough uncontrollably.

"Beau! Seriously? Sit properly and hold on tight, got it?" Seeing that Beau wasn't hurt, Niamh let out a sigh of relief.

She grabbed the back of his jacket and hoisted him upright, setting him back into position.

Beau adjusted his helmet and shouted, "I'm fine!"

His voice was loud—he was saying it for Elara and Bambi to hear.

"Damn it! Who the hell drives like that?" Niamh grumbled as the car that had nearly collided with her came to a stop as well.

The driver, gripping the steering wheel, leaned out of the window and yelled, "You were going the wrong way!"

"Didn't you see I had a kid on board? What the fuck, man!"

The driver looked

Instead, she walked straight up the courthouse steps, knowing they were heading to the same place anyway.Harvey followed behind her, his deep voice cutting through the air."You could ask me for a favor. I could issue a statement to the commission to unfreeze your assets faster."He knew her predicament yet still positioned himself above her, offering help like it was a privilege she had to earn. That 60 million meant nothing to Harvey. But for Elara, it was the key to buying a home. Stil

Elara smiled, looking calm and unbothered. "Mr. Fisher, don't tell me you don't actually want to divorce me?"Harvey let out a cold scoff. "It would be much more annoying if you kept clinging to me afterward."Elara mimicked his tone, just as dismissive. "You're overthinking things."The court clerk handed them their divorce certificates. Elara glanced at the photo on hers, where she was smiling brightly. She curled her lips in satisfaction.Harvey took his without even looking at it and immediately stood up."Mr. Fisher, wait a moment." Elara stopped him, and he paused mid-step.With one hand in his pocket, he turned back with a smirk. "Already regretting it?""You need to sign one more thing," she said matter-of-factly. "Bambi is taking my last name."His smirk vanished in an instant.Elara walked out of the reception room and saw that Finnegan sat with Bambi in the lobby. The moment he saw Harvey, he nearly lost control of his expression.Just yesterday, Harvey had bought

"Let's all congratulate this man! He's now free from his shackles, and celebrating his new single life—happy divorce!"Niamh led the group in holding up a massive banner that read "Congratulations on Your Divorce, Harvey Fisher!" while confetti cannons fired off and air horns blared."Mommy, what is Aunt Niamh doing?" Merida asked, thoroughly confused.Elara squeezed her daughter's hand and sighed. "She's making a fool of herself… And dragging Mr. Harvey down with her."Elara took a detour around the crowd to avoid the spectacle. Meanwhile, Niamh smirked triumphantly as she watched Elara slink away.Harvey forced himself to approach her. "What the hell are you doing?"Niamh stood on her tiptoes to throw an arm around his shoulders. "Dude, I'm throwing you a divorce party!"Harvey pulled away, looking somewhat disgusted. "Keep your voice down. Do you think this is something to be proud of?"But Niamh wasn't fazed. If anything, she looked downright delighted now that Harvey and E

That white dress had been the best outfit Elara could wear out at the time.Niamh called out cheerfully, "Hey, sweetheart, come over and have a drink with us."The woman looked terrified, and she was frantically shaking her head. "I-I don't drink."A sneer pressed against the back of Niamh's throat. She glanced at the men in the room and asked, "So, this is your type, huh? All innocent and harmless? Even I feel like taking pity on her.""This little white rabbit is definitely appealing!""If Harvey's interested, we won't compete with him for her."Niamh's grin widened. "Don't be scared, sweetheart. Sit next to me. I won't bully you."The woman slightly lowered her guard upon hearing that and hesitantly walked toward Niamh.Niamh shoved a glass of liquor into her hand. "Come on, give Mr. Fisher a toast."Then, pushing against the woman's back, she forcefully guided her in front of Harvey. The woman then looked at the man's cold and distant profile. She called out trembling as

So, she simply turned and left.About ten minutes later, Wendy staggered out of the restroom, hunched over in pain. She was barely able to stand straight, and she looked like a walking corpse.Theodore stood outside, dressed in a crisp suit with an unreadable expression.Wendy handed him the memory card clutched in her palm."She didn't recognize me." Despite her bruised and swollen face, Wendy grinned. "I'm counting on you. I want her to rot in hell! I want justice for Dawn!"Theodore took the memory card, his fingers turning it over indifferently before he turned to leave.Wendy called out to him. "I just want to know, Mr. Snapp, why are you suddenly willing to help me seek justice? No matter how much I begged before, you didn't even look at this case."Theodore idly toyed with the tiny memory card between his fingers. "Because

Niamh flinched at the icy aura radiating from Harvey. She could see the murderous expression on his face."What happened? Did Elara say something to upset you again?"Harvey clenched his jaw and spat out two words through gritted teeth. "Theodore! Snapp!"Niamh was just as stunned."Hmm?" In the dead of night, Theodore's mocking laughter nearly burst Harvey's eardrums."You're in Elara's room?" Harvey's voice dropped several octaves.Niamh's jaw fell open in shock, unable to utter a single word."We just got divorced this morning, and you're already spending the night with her at a hotel?"At this moment, Harvey was like an enraged lion.Theodore, on the other hand, spoke in an unhurried, relaxed tone. "Elara is staying in a hotel under my name. It's late—I couldn't possibly allow my guest to be disturbed. Besides…"He paused deliberately. "Does getting divorced mean she's supposed to mourn you for a couple of years first?"The sneer on Harvey's handsome face grew even colde

Harvey let out a cold, dismissive snort. He felt surprisingly light when he got out of bed today. After taking a shower, he walked out of the bathroom in a bathrobe. As soon as he looked up, he saw Niamh leaning against the sliding door, rubbing her sleepy eyes. She stretched lazily like a cat, just enough to reveal the defined lines of her toned waist."Harvey, you're up early."Harvey was stunned. The towel he had been using to dry his hair slipped from his fingers and fell to the floor. He didn't even bother changing his wet slippers before striding into Elara's bedroom. He yanked the blanket off the bed, then turned his head, scanning the room as if convinced Elara was hiding somewhere. With a sharp flick, he pulled open the wardrobe. Inside, rows of high-end custom-made outfits hung neatly. When Elara left the Fisher family with Merida, she only took one suitcase. Most of the clothes inside weren't even hers but the ones she had bought for Merida.Everyone in the Fisher fam

She then picked up her glass and gulped down her orange juice. She ate with such enthusiasm that a nearby elementary schooler, wearing a bright red hoodie, grabbed another bite of his syrup-drenched toast and stuffed it into his mouth.Seeing that Merida had finished her breakfast, Elara handed her a wet wipe. "Come on, let's head to school."The brightness in Merida's eyes dimmed instantly at the mention of school. Elara, who was always sharp, immediately sensed the change in her daughter's mood."What's wrong?""Mommy, I don't really like school anymore."Elara asked, "Did something happen?"Merida shook her head. Lately, she just noticed that other kids didn't like playing with her as much. But she didn't want to worry Elara by telling her."It's nothing! Even though I don't like school that much anymore, I still have my good friends there. B

Paisley stood at the center of the stage and bowed, thanking the audience. Meanwhile, the auditorium erupted in thunderous applause. Several parents who knew Rosalie turned to praise her."Ms. Fisher, you've done such a wonderful job raising her.""Paisley's dancing was beautiful. With her on stage, the whole performance became so pleasing to watch."Parents from the same class chimed in as well. "Rosalie made the right call by having Merida step down from the rehearsals. If Merida had performed, it definitely wouldn't have turned out this well.""Exactly. Rosalie really has great foresight."As they spoke, their glances drifted—intentionally or not—toward Elara. In the microcosm of the school community, parents were sorted by social circles. Even if they acknowledged Elara's competence, to them, she still had no real backing. And without that, she might as well have had nothing. In the world of elite parents at one of Capitol's top schools, Elara stood on shaky ground. Those ho

Rosalie let out a disdainful snort. "Does someone like Elara even deserve to step into the Fisher family's circle?"Her voice turned icy and shrill. "She's only dragging me down!"Luxury brands existed precisely to distinguish those who could afford them from those who couldn't. If commoners could easily buy Louis Vuitton or Hermès, how would the wealthy flaunt their status?Ever since Elara married into the Fisher family, Rosalie felt her own standing had been diminished. Now that Elara had been kicked out, Rosalie wouldn't give her another chance to mingle with high society.Harold lowered his voice. "Put in a good word for me with the Fisher family. Help me become Xavier's tutor."Though Beau had resumed his elite homeschooling, Xavier still attended the same classes—and far outperformed him. Why were you looking at her?"Flames burned in Rosalie's eyes as Harold hurriedly explained, "I just saw Xavier sitting in her lap and got curious! I never expected that child to be so close with her."He then gossiped with Rosalie, "Do you think if Elara dotes on Xavier like this, she might end up becoming Harvey's aunt?"A mischievous smirk spread across Harold's face."Only vulgar minds would come up with such vulgar thoughts!" Rosalie snapped. As a Fisher family member, her first reaction was utter disgust at such disgraceful speculation. How could she ever hold her head high in Capitol's elite circles if this happened?"How could Leonard possibly do such a t

Rosalie's lips curled into a mocking smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Of course, you'd get selected no matter what you perform. I mean, having a school board chairman for a father does wonders."Nearby parents exchanged knowing glances.Elara asked calmly, "Ms. Fisher, did Harvey say something to you?""Not at all," Rosalie replied."Then are you just spreading rumors?" Elara continued. "My daughter's performance earned the arts department's approval. What does that have to do with the Fisher family?"Rosalie lifted her chin, her gaze turning condescending. Since Elara's divorce from Harvey, Rosalie had looked at her like royalty observing an ant beneath her feet."The arts teachers only approved it because Harvey's on the board."Elara simply smiled. Rosalie was clearly trying to pick a fight, but Elara wasn't interested in proving herself. She had no intention of arguing over whether her daughter's opportunity to perform was the result of favoritism from Harvey.Instead, sh

Niamh's mouth opened, her voice trembling as she muttered, "Why… Why would Harvey say that?"By pushing all the blame onto her, wasn't Harvey essentially sentencing her to death? No! Harvey's lying! What he's saying isn't true!"She knew with certainty that Abel would truly break her legs. Disaster was coming for her!Benjamin interjected coldly, "What you should consider is why Harvey would say this. Regardless of the truth, when Harvey shifts all the blame to you, it means you've become worthless to him!"To him, you're just a scapegoat now!"Tears welled in Niamh's eyes.
