Forty-Four

Mykel’s POV

When I got to the town centre, I found myself surrounded. I hadn’t bothered to wait for my warriors knowing my mate was in trouble. Feeling her pain through the bond had me putting all my logical thinking aside. I needed to get to her. I wouldn’t care if it cost me my life just so long, she was safe. Remaining in wolf form I wasted no time in electrically charging the ground. The way it tickled and pricked at my skin as it slithered down and out, highlighting even the deepest darkest shadows felt exhilarating. It wasn’t enough to kill them, but it temporarily stunned them nevertheless. When it came to using my gifts, I had come to learn my limit. Using too much in one go left me exhausted, I needed to build a tolerance. Something that was easier said than done. My wolfs temper made him unpredictable so even though I had gradually gotten better stamina, I still had a way to go.

As the shocked wolves spasmed on the ground I wasted no time in ripping their throats from them.
