The two young boys got on like a house on fire. They had their good times and bad but often Nero would take great care of his new partner in crime. Ezra was born with a disability but he was determined, it would not hold him back. The two was getting into adventures on a daily basis.
It was James who would encourage them to stick together help each other and grow up as one. The things Ezra couldn’t do, Nero would step in and finish the Job. Daily Training was on their chores and each day that passed the bond grew between them, thicker than any bond of blood could be.
Even though James seemed like a very generous and caring Man to take in a lost soul like Nero, more often than not, He would remind Nero of the kindness that was shown to him. He made sure it was ebbed into his mind, so he wouldn’t forget who had taken him in, who fed him and why he should be grateful at all times. There had been days where Nero wished his Family were still by his side but he knew there was people out there responsible for their Deaths. Driven by the wish to avenge his Families death, he made sure he gave it his all, when training.
Nero became stronger going from strength to strength as they grew older and so did Ezra at his own pace with Nero by his side. Nero was incredibly fast and always lead by example. A fine young man with hazel-coloured short locks and dark brown eyes. Ezra was often the one pulling the ropes behind the scenes when they was planning tricks on others including the Alpha and other Pack members, in their free time. Silvia knew it was never an easy thing, to scold the both of them in the right way as they both were playing different parts in the tricks. They stuck together like glue.
For years now the kingdom of the wolves had been in continued fights, often over territory. Luckily, this Pack was well guarded and prepared for any situations. Even if they were surrounded, they would be well off as they had everything they needed within their Walls. Many Packs had not been as fortunate and have been taken over by bigger and stronger Packs.
It hadn’t come as a complete surprise when a letter was posted to many Packs within miles of each other inviting them to a tournament.
This tournament was held by an Alpha called Raymond. He had one Daughter and instead of just waiting for someone to take over his Pack he was willing to give the hand of his daughter away, with the hope of an alliance between the two Packs to be bound by marriage.
When James received the letter, he called Ezra and Nero to his side. Explaining the possibility of an even stronger Pack. He knew that his own Son would have not have a chance at winning the Tournament and He himself was too old.
“Nero, I will need you to be Ezra’s champion in this tournament. You will take his place and fight for the hand of the Alpha’s Daughter in Ezra’s Name.” He less proposes but more likely demands.
“But father she might not be my mate?” Ezra protests on the top of his voice with a frown as he looks over to Nero.
“It does not matter Son, not everyone is as lucky to find their Mate and this is the perfect opportunity to strengthen our ranks without having to start a fight with another pack, you will have noticed how we have stayed the same size for years now as we haven’t got many Pack members in the first place.” He stops the protest of his own son in an instant.
“Will you let me be your Champion, Ezra?” Nero asks for his companions permission before he gives a definite answer to the Alpha who is stood waiting impatiently. Nero will not agree to anything Ezra doesn’t want to do. He knows even though Ezra is slower than others and maybe not as strong, he would still rather fight for himself.
“Ezra… “ his father says in a strict voice.
After taken a moment of consideration he runs his hand through his light brown short hair. If falls back into the same shape right away, falling lightly into his face.
“If it helps the Pack, I guess I have no other choice. Yes, be my Champion for this tournament.” He takes a deep breath before turning away from his father looking out of the window.
“So, it is agreed, Nero shall take your place and be the champion, I get everything arranged. Gordon and Samuel will accompany you Nero, to make sure you see it through.” The Alpha claps his hands together in delight as he gets right onto the matter.
“Will you accompany me?” Nero asks Ezra as they are both heading outside of the house.
“No, I will not, I don’t want to know what she is like beforehand, just make sure you win or we will never hear the end of it.” Ezra gives Nero a nudge on his shoulder.
Knowing full well that there is a lot at stake for the pack Nero gets right back to the training. Within days of the letter the tournament is ready to take place. Gordon leads the group of three as they arrive near Alpha Raymond’s Pack territory. They have erected extra wooden seat’s for the spectators, who have come from near and far to watch. Nero tries his best not to get nervous but at his age it isn’t quite as easy with such a crowd around. Nero is only 20 years old and one of the youngest to actually take part, he is aware that everyone else might be stronger and bigger but he can’t be for certain. It will only show in the fights.
“Welcome fellow Werewolves. I would like to thank you for coming today joining me for this tournament.
We have all together eight contestants fighting, duels and only each winner will proceed to the next round. Now we would like to avoid any deaths so, you win when your opponent touches the ground with his shoulder blades. We do like blood though so don’t go easy with that part.
Let the tournament begin.” Alpha Raymond announces and from there everything goes quite fast, each one of the contestants has their own small tent where they can wait and relax in-between fights. Gordon advises Samuel and Nero to take shelter and get out of the sun. While waiting for him inside the tent, as he goes to sort out the administration side of things and to find out who will be the first opponent.
“Are you scared?” Samuel drops the bag on the ground they have taken on their journey, with clothes to change for Nero.
“No not scared. Watched some of them while everyone was talking. They are strong, mostly Alphas so I will take the role of the wild card I guess.” Nero sits himself on one of the chairs after he grabbed a cold bottle of water.
A sip of water then starts to take his shirt off as the tent has heated up quite a bit in the sun.
Samuel notices a necklace around Nero’s neck. “Never spotted this, what’s the necklace for?” He asks curious.
“Just a talisman I guess.” Nero runs his fingers over the medallion dangling on his chest. Gordon walks into the Tent shaking his head in disbelieve.
“Well guess we will have quite a task on our hand there are some right monsters out there. All Alpha’s, I don’t think James has thought this through properly, bloody hell.” He pats with his hand on Nero’s shoulder who is taking off the medallion ready to start his first fight.
“The first one is Jordan. He is in his late 20s. His pack is one of the smaller ones so hopefully you will sail through this one.” Gordon tries to talk to Nero but he is already walking out of the tent. As they are waiting for the announcer to reveal the names of the contestants, Nero hands his medallion to Samuel. “Hold this for me will you.” Then he turns around, concentrating on what is happening in front of him.
The announcer steps into the circle that’s drawn on to the ground.“Here we have on the left-Hand Contestant Jordan and to my right-hand side Contestant Nero.” The guy waves both of them into the circle standing opposite they both just nod at each other as they are ready to shift into their Wolf forms. In an instant Jordan changes into a very impressive muscular dark brown nearly black wolf as the clothes he had on fall into shreds around him. Luckily, this kind of tactic trying to impress Nero isn’t quite as successful as his opponent has hoped. Nero just watches him with a small smirk on his lips as shifts himself.A one in a million Wolf is now stood at the side of the circle ready to take on anyone who is stood in his way. Nero is a wonderful colour of hazelnut brown almost golden as it shimmers in the sun.It doesn’t take Nero long to overtake Jordan and the fight was less than 3 minutes long as he managed to trick him a
Nero agrees and uses the break to rest. Even if he wanted to, changing back it would now be a stupid idea as he heals much faster as wolf than he does as human. He takes the advice from his mentor on board. He agrees, he will look for his mate as soon as the fight is over. Once he won this Girl for his best friend and soon to be Alpha of the pack, Ezra. Thinking about it he actually gets quite excited for this last fight and the time can’t pass fast enough.Eager he jumps out of the Tent as soon as the Announcer calls out for the Opponents to attend at the circle. It’s now just this fight between him and finding his mate. This time he has to fight a much bigger and stronger Wolf than he was expecting but it’s not stopping him. He is determined to get this over with as fast as he possibly can.The cheering crowd can hardly wait for the Announcer to start the fight.“This is it people!
All the way Home Nero refused to say a single word. Not once did he look up.Gordon was puzzled what had happened as Nero was usually such a Happy person to be around. The sudden change is very unlike him.Nero is walking fast; he can’t wait to get back to the Pack and forget about what had happened.“Nero? Come here Son, talk to me.” Gordon shouts from behind pulling Nero from his thoughts. As Samuel and Vida carry on to walk along the last bit of Road ahead.“What happened? Did you find your Mate? I thought you could smell her?” Gordon is asking as he tries to understand why Nero is reacting this way.“Found her. Don’t want to talk about it.” Nero answers rolling his hands into fists. Gordon feels the anger that’s growing inside of the young man and instead of pushing him he lets him off.“Well, when you want to talk about it. I am here, Okay.” He offers as he
“You used to be able to tell me anything. What’s changed?” Ezra questions as he watches him throw the towel onto the ground.“We grew up Ez.” Nero walks out of the room leaving Ezra standing in his room. He had to leave or he would have either punched Ezra as his anger grew told him about Vida and why he out of a sudden can’t be his best friend anymore.Nero thought after a few days away he would just be able to get over this but he can feel the rage taking over, the thought of his friend touching his Mate is just too much for him. He grabs an axe, then walks out of the village into the woods. He chops down one tree after another. Only stopping as he notices he isn’t alone anymore. He could hear her steps from a mile away as she carried a bucket full of water.“I thought maybe you need some water to cool you down.” Vida says softly as she watches him take his sweat drenched shirt of. A small gas
Vida uses the water from the bucket to clean herself before putting her clothes back on, when Nero grabs her. Kissing her. He would do it all again in a heartbeat. He loved her with all his heart, from the moment he met her all those years ago, his life was always about her. He couldn’t mark her but it didn’t stop her from putting a mark on him. Not the usual spot on the neck that are visible to everyone but she gotten on her knees placing a mark just near his groin. Nero groaned, from pain to lust as she bites him. He now belonged to her and anyone who would dare going near him would see right away that he had been claimed. He pushes her against the Tree, kissing down her neck when she was waiting for him to return the favour but he stops. Hesitating. Unsure. He knows if he puts a mark on her, it will change everything. He breathes in deeply, savouring the moment.Just then he hears Gordon shout hi
“I couldn’t sleep, that’s all.” Nero answers as he turns around at the door walking back towards his bed. Gordon follows him inside. Exhausted he throws himself back on the bed. “Smells awful in here, open the bloody window. It smells like you had s!x all night.” Gordon pulls up his nose as he opens the window himself.“What do you want? I just want to sleep.” Nero complains pulling a pillow over his head.“We are leaving for a few days. We have gotten a tip off, that some Rogues are planning an attack on Alpha Raymond’s Pack, He has asked for our help. We are leaving in a few hours.” Gordon pulls Nero’s pillow off his head. “Did you hear?” He asks as Nero starts to groan in disgust over the light coming in through the window.“Yes, Gordon. I heard you.” Nero huffs as Gordon walks out of the Room.He had the biggest respect for Gordon. He was the
Soon as they walked in, the group was already stood waiting for Nero. They wave them over and Nero goes go shift back to his human form behind the house throwing on a pair of trousers and a shirt. Re-joining the Group, he watches Ezra talk to Vida and he has to try his best not to growl at him. He doesn’t want anyone near her. Feeling the anger grow he looks away grabbing his bag. He takes out his talisman hanging it back around his neck.Vida looks over to Nero as she talks to Ezra, tears threatening to fall.“I will miss you more than you will ever know.” She mind links Nero and it’s the first time she has used her mate bond to mind link him. He smiles at her lightly but still wary of his surroundings and everyone around him. Gordon and Samuel are leading the group full of chatter as finally Ezra says his goodbyes to Vida.Walking out of the Village Nero turns one last time, he can feel his heart sink. She is stood there, watching
Clear as a day Nero could remember his Mothers face. Just the day before it all began, he had for the first time been able to feel the baby kick in her Tummy. His father, Aldric, a strong and strict but very proud Alpha who loved him. Sometimes they would visit him in his dream. His Baby sister who he never got to meet was there too. The love he still had for his Family was as strong as ever. “Yes, Alpha. I am the Son of Aldric of the Green Forest Pack. I still remember everything about them and will never forget.” Nero is looking down in his hands. To this day he wonders if he could have done anything to prevent what had happened to his family. He is convinced if it had been a few years later, it would have ended in a different way but at five years old there wasn’t much he could have done besides facing the same fate as his family. The alpha starts to cough and now that Nero looks up at him, he notices he had turned rather white and pale. “Al

The cold water running down his muscular body offering a relieve, calming his nerves as he starts to feel stressed. He just stands there staring at the wall as his mind is racing. He needs to stop Ezra’s plans to marry Vida. They have always been close, right? So, it should really not be such a big thing. Nero tries to keep his composure, fairly certain he reminds himself that Ezra is now at a state where he thinks Vida is his mate, when in reality she is Nero’s.He wraps a towel around his waist after drying himself walking back into his room when once again Silvia has left him some clothes on the bed to put on. Just this time he doesn’t feel comfortable enough to actually putting them on. He walks over to the dresser picking his own shirt and shorts. “There will be no wedding, no need to put these clothes on at all.” He mutters walking out of the room.Everything is quiet, no one is left in the house. Only when he walks clo
The village is now waking up and the day-to-day noises are starting but this day was unusual, the noises seemed busier than other days. Nero cold tell as he had been here many times before but never has been a morning been as busy and hectic as this. Vida straightens her hair out before they head back towards the Alpha house as Silvia has a heated discussion with one of the Villagers.“Is everything okay?” Nero asks as he approaches them with Vida walking up behind him.“We can’t find Vida; she hasn’t been in her room last night and nothing is going like we had discussed it yesterday with Ezra. It’s a mess Nero!” she almost shouts at him but then her voice drops a little as Vida steps out behind Nero looking at Silvia.“I am sorry Silvia; Vida had asked last night to stand the night guard and I couldn’t find a reason why not to allow her.” Nero apologises as Silvia puts her hands on her hips looking mad
Nero’s shoulders are hanging down with the weight he carries. Gordon looks over to Vida and Nero speaking in a low and calm voice “Guess you are on guard tonight, let’s get everyone ready, my Lady… you should join Silvia and Ezra in the main house.” With that he turns to leave slowly. Nero holds his hand out towards Vida, she places her left hand in his. The sheer love between the two, the little sparks in their eyes as they look at each other. You can feel the admiration she has for him as she looks deep into his eyes. “Gordon is right Vida, you should leave. I will make sure you are safe.” Nero pulls her closer as he holds on tight to her hand. “I will see you in the morning.” He says in a whisper close to her ear as he places a warm kiss on her cheek. “I don’t want to leave you. Let me stay here with you, I can help, I am sure.” She tries to plead with him. “I don’t think it’s the best idea to have you here. I would never spend any attention
She starts to tremble as he is holding her close. A few times she is about to say something but then decides to say nothing at all. When she finally murmurs…“I would forgive you anything. I can’t imagine to be with him. I’d rather …” he never let her finish those words before pressing his warm lips on hers. He couldn’t help himself. He had the best intensions to let her go an be there for Ezra and for the Pack but his bond with her is stronger than anything he has ever experienced.“I need to tell you something.” She grabs onto his hand looking at him with a hopeful smile.“Nero, I … we are… “ she can’t find the words when out of a sudden Nero’s expression changes.“We are under attack, every fighter to your positions now.” Gordon’s call through the mind link is urgent and definitely not part of training as there are screams for children and wo
Slipping into his shirt he can hear some footsteps coming closer to his door. He listens out for any other sounds when everything goes quiet. His heart starts to race and he gets this tickling feeling in his stomach. His legs feel like jelly as he puts his hand carefully on the door. He can feel the energy radiating through the door but then it starts to fade away as he hears the footsteps leave again.Insecure and unsure what to do he takes a deep breath. It kind of leaves him gasping for air, wanting more as it sparked a warm feeling inside of him. It was more than that, he didn’t want the feeling to stop. It’s like on a rainy and cold day, when you are yearning for the sun to come out and warm you up. When the sun breaks through the grey clouds and you can see the rays hit right through you, warming you from the core.He murmurs under his breath “ I still need you.” as he freezes for a moment and his expressions darkens.
He puts his hand on his chin pondering, thinking what to answer him. Obviously, he knows why the sudden change of character but he can hardly tell Ezra about the secret he is keeping so close to his heart.“Maybe give her a few days, I am sure she will come around soon. Don’t forget not only did she lose your Father as Alpha but she recently had to leave her own pack to come and join us here, it’s all been a shock to the system.” Nero answers trying to reassure his friend that everything will be well once everyone settles back after the loss of the Alpha.“It feels like she is fading away under my hands! Do you think there is anything I could do to make her feel any better?” Ezra interrogations Nero hoping to find a lead on how to help her.“I am not sure, maybe give her a bit more time and then take her for a walk or a picnic out away from all the eyes and ears, in the village.” Nero recons.“Ye
For the days to come he has offered Ezra to be taking the night guard. This way he can avoid Vida as much as possible.Just as he drags himself to his room for a well-earned rest, Gordon is leaning against his Door frame.“Hey Boy, how are you coping?” He asks him as Nero tries to get past.Nero can’t just nod and walk away from Gordon; he knows him for far too long so will know something is up if he ignores him on the long run.“I will be okay.” He answers abrupt and short unwilling to let anything slip past his lips. “Just tired.” He adds in a bid to make Gordon understand that he isn’t going to stand around for a long conversation.“When are we going to meet your Mate? It is a bit unusual for a proud wolf like you to hide your mate, I am just curious as it has been a while since I have seen you happy and you are clearly bearing her mark.” Gordon refuses to stand down waiti
Nero is trying his best not to shake in anger and disappointment but he knows his friend needs him by his side. For years and years Ezra was dependant on him, his strength and guidance. As soon as the Burial is done and over with Nero takes himself back to his room. He feels restricted in his clothes which he only put on to make Silvia happy. He feels the most comfortable when he is free in his Wolf all by himself. As the Sun starts to go down and the day draws to an end, Nero walks back out of the House and Ezra catches up with him.“It’s your turn to stand guard tonight, are you okay with it?” He questions him just as he heads past him. Nero just nods leaving Ezra behind as he walks down the main road towards the Big Gate.He doesn’t mind doing the Night guard, then he can sleep the day away avoiding people, even better for him now so he doesn’t have to make things up why he is so withdrawn from the situation.
