chapter seventy-nine

Emily POV

"What's wrong with her?" I asked the guy examining my daughter. Tyler was beside us, but the doctor didn't seem to care about his presence.

"How has she been sleeping? Or rather, what time does she go to bed?" the doctor asked, observing Olivia.

"She only sleeps with me," Tyler replied.

"That's not what I asked, Mom. What time does the child go to sleep?" the doctor asked again, more rudely.

Tyler didn't let me answer and interrupted.

"It depends. On weekends, she goes to bed at nine, and on weekdays a little later," he replied, shrugging.

"Well, little Olivia has a weakened immune system. Fever is a way her body found to defend itself, as during sleep, she would do that. When children sleep, they replenish the energy spent during the day," he began to write. "Therefore, be sure to put her to bed at eight o'clock, or you won't leave the hospital."
