Arthur was caressed by the cool breeze of his region, which greeted him with clouds in the sky. Arriving at his ranch, he got off his horse and Raul led him to the stable. Arthur walked with fists clenched and chest erect, to confront the intruders who had broken into his property.
“You are not our masters, our master is Arthur Connovan!” one of the workers shouted indignantly. They had had enough of the abuses of these thieving intruders.
“Arthur? The dead one? He has already passed on to a better life and, since Arthur has no heirs, these lands pass into our hands,” a young man, with short blond hair, blue eyes, and great height, said cynically.
“Henry Jones!" Arthur called out to him with an indignant face, the blond widened his eyes in surprise. "As you can see, I am alive and I would like to know by what right you are trespassing on my land, abusing my people, and taking over my estate.
Henry confronted him with an outburst, the information he received from his men was different from what his eyes could see.
“We are the owners of this region and the authority, we do whatever it takes to impose order.”
Arthur laughed wryly.
“This is your way of imposing order? Send to kill me, break into my lands, take over my estate, mistreat my workers, rape Anabela? You're going to get beaten for that, Henry, that crime will not go unpunished. I don't care how much time and money I have to invest, I'm going to lock you up for ruining Ana's life.
“I didn't rape her, she offered herself to me and we both enjoyed it. Look at me, do you think I need to force myself on a trashy servant girl? She must feel lucky that I did her the favor.”
And as if overcome by a superior force, Arthur lunged at Henry. The workers gathered around and as Arthur had the upper hand, no one bothered to separate them; rather, they enjoyed the moment, since they had no desire to do the same.
Shots rang through the air and Arthur's gunmen drew their pistols. Some of the Jones' and Delton's men came to the defense of Henry, who was being beaten by Arthur.
Henry ran to his men, who were already positioned in front of Arthur's men. They all pointed their guns at each other and a short gentleman with black hair and a big hat looked at Arthur menacingly.
“Connovan, you just beat up Bruce Jones' son, simply because he was guarding your land in your absence. Is this how you thank us for the gesture? You may be the most powerful man in the region thanks to your father, but his death should be an example to you, even the most powerful fall, Connovan,” the lord said firmly.
“Are you threatening me, Delton? It is clear to me what you are saying, since you paid for my death, you could look into that and believe me, nothing you have done to me will go unpunished. Now I would thank you to leave my grounds, I don't need your help, I am here, alive,” Arthur confronted him with his characteristic authority. Delton smiled mischievously and motioned to his men. Arthur caught his breath as they left and all his workers celebrated with euphoria.

“Arthur!” he hugged her tightly, and she cried on his chest.
“I'm with you, Ana,” he caressed her cheek tenderly. They both went to the kitchen and sat down in front of the dining room, then Nidia served them tea and sat down next to them. “You can count on me for anything you need and don't worry about that asshole, I'm going to lock him up, I'll find a way to make him pay for what he did to you.”
She nodded hiccupping and he wiped away her tears. Her consolation was comforting. Anabela admired him greatly, for he had always treated her like family, even though he was her boss. Arthur was the hope of everyone in the region, they rested in his generosity and fight for justice.
“He left me, Arthur,” her voice came out shrill from crying. “Ivan is not going to marry me.”
“He doesn't deserve you, he doesn't deserve any of your tears, beauty. Come here," he hugged her. "He's not the man for you. You'll meet the love of your life, a man who truly loves and values you.”
“Who could that man be?” she looked into his eyes.
“One who sees how wonderful you are, Ana. A man who will watch over you and protect you, a man who will be with you no matter the circumstances,” he kissed the crown of her head.
“A man like you?” she asked with a smile that Arthur returned.
“A better one than me,” he kissed her forehead and she hugged him.

Sam sat on his trunk watching the sky. It was inevitable not to remember Arthur and that intense kiss they gave each other. She had never kissed like that with anyone, well, actually she had never really kissed on the lips. Her eyes filled with tears, how long would she miss him? Why did the absence of a man with whom she only shared for a month hurt her? Could it be that feeling his sincere care, his delicate and respectful treatment, also the desire he transmitted to her with that kiss, moved her because she never received any of that from the person who was supposed to love her?
“Arthur... I think I like you…” she whispered while she caressed her lips with her fingers.
A beautiful sunset celebrated the union of two souls in love, who met and saved each other. Dancing, laughter, food, and greetings flooded the cheerful estate.A couple admired the bride and groom dancing with the restless child, forming a dance of three. “We should get married, too,” Samuel whispered in the ear of the blonde whom he hugged from behind. “Everything will depend on you and how productive you make our estate," she said mischievously and he kissed her neck. Jacqueline had bought the neighboring ranch and settled there. She and Samuel managed it, although Samuel preferred the heavy labor along with the other workers. Like any ranchman with masculine pride, he was saving up to buy the engagement ring, for he wanted it to come out of his own pocket, as the fruit of his hard work. Another wedding was coming up soon, although Jacqueline had another little surprise in store for him, a consequence of his lack of patience is not waiting until
The sweat on their foreheads and the rapid beating of their hearts were evidence of the fear that ran through them. They were in the hands of their enemies and it was obvious that this would be the end of them. Arthur hurried to the gate with relief, noticing that it was the redhead woman who was there; she was looking at him questioningly; he, in turn, understood that expression and thanked God for that opportunity. “Tell me, Mr. Connovan, do you believe there is any hope for me? Do you believe that my sinful, wicked soul will find a place where it belongs and can be admired by anyone?” “I do. It doesn't have to be romantic love, you can find charity wherever you want to cultivate it. And definitely, I believe you can redeem your actions and be a good person, I believe you can dream and make those dreams come true.” “Will I be happy if I do that?” Her voice came out shrill and tears streamed down her face. “You will be. You will know the true
Arthur got off the horse full of excitement. He had dreamed all those days of Sam's face at the sight of her son, and the longing to witness that happiness in her had him nervous and nauseous. He ran to the door with trembling hands and a heaving chest. Jacqueline followed him with the child in her arms, he was very quiet for a child of his age and hardly uttered any words.Arthur noticed the half-opened door and entered quietly, for he wanted to surprise her. His heart pounded intensely as he saw a broken vase in the middle of the room and some things lying around as if a fight had taken place there. He ran in desperation to the other rooms of the house as he called out to her with cries full of anguish.“Sam! No, no, no, no, no. Sam, sweetheart, what happened?”Jacqueline looked at him regretfully, fearing the worst.“Sam!” he shouted and ran out of the hut in hope. It must be a misunderstanding, surely she would explain to him w
“So, Samay is with you,” said the black-haired man, smiling. “That girl is very elusive, I could never find her.”“Were you looking for her?” Samuel and Sebastian looked at each other with a smile.“Of course I was looking for her! I wanted her son back.”“Her son?” Samuel asked dumbfounded. Arthur hadn't told him about it.“She hadn't told you anything? She got pregnant by her husband. I don't know how she managed to escape, but I found her passed out on the outskirts of the forest surrounding the Fraga estate. She was bleeding and I thought she had lost the baby. A doctor friend treated her in secret, as many people were afraid of White. She woke up upset believing her child had died, but that baby was well attached and more alive than the mother.”He took a puff on his cigarette and smiled mischievously.“We moved to another town and she lived with me for the rema
Arthur rode in a daze, the melancholy in his chest and the emptiness of her absence was torturous. To imagine all that she suffered, all that she had to sacrifice.***“So, the lady is dead,” Samuel remained thoughtful and then smiled. "We must not lose hope, there is a person who can help us and soon I will find his whereabouts.”"Who is it?” Arthur asked in confusion.“Mrs. Julia's grandson.”Arthur nodded. Samuel got up from his chair and left.Arthur was in his room pondering Sam's confession when the door opened.“Hello, Arthur,” Anabela hugged him fervently. “I've been so worried. Where did you go that you didn't sleep in the house last night?”“I was working something out,” he pinched his nose.“And why did you go off by yourself? You know those thugs have you in their sights. Luckily they didn't succeed when you were in jail
Sam looked for food and sat down to eat in the backyard. She reminisced about that day when he took her there. She loved him and it was painful to be separated from him. A week had passed and it was time to be told that at least he was okay, so she decided to visit the gentlemen who were taking care of her.“Hello, my dear,” Mrs. Goodman greeted her with a smile. “How's your arm today?”“It's better. I came to give you the list of supplies I'll need.”“Excellent!” The lady took the paper and sat down across from her. “Would you like some coffee?” Sam nodded and she smiled.“I'd like to know…” she looked down and played with her fingers. Her cheeks flushed and her nervousness was noticeable. “I've been here for a week and…” her heart pounded with intensity.“He'll contact you when it's safe to do it,” the lady averted her gaze, but Sam had a
