The Chemistry

ANNE'S POV

When I was standing in front of Carson's room, I knocked gingerly on the door, anticipating his reply but I didn't hear anything after a while so I pulled the door open and went in.

The room was pitch black and I could not make out Carson's figure.

I stumbled around in the dark until I finally found the light switch, then I switched it on.

Carson was seated on the edge of the bed unmoving.

I was sure he had heard me come inside since I was quite loud when I was searching for the light switch.

"Carson?" I called out uncertainly and he glanced up at me then looked away.

I drew nearer to him and sat next to him on the bed.

"Is something wrong?" I asked as I peered at his face but he kept avoiding my gaze.

"Talk to me." I said, he was starting to get me worried with how he was behaving.

Carson didn't reply but he lifted his head to look at me and I could see his eyes were red.

But I wasn't sure of it was due to anger or if he was holding back tears.

It didn't seem possible that
