When I had calmed down, I rinsed myself off, slipping into a robe, and scrubbing the water out of my hair. I heard a knock at the door, and then Loss opening it, as voices were exchanged, and then one leaving. As I stepped out of the restroom, I could see Loss fixing the table for the both of us to eat, the delicous smell of pizza hitting me. My stomach grumbled, and I walked to the chair, sitting across from him. He flashed a smile at me, and I timidly smiled back. "Are you okay?" he asked, placing his warm hand on mine. "Yes, I wanted to thank you for helping me." I replied, holding his hand. "I've come to realize that maybe I shouldn't leave you out of my sight after all. I mean, I;m not supposed to leave at all, but you were asking for alot of information I can't give at this time." he explained. I nodded, taking a slice of pepperoni pizza from the box, and eating it, the hot cheese burning my mouth. He smiled softly though, handing me a cup that looked l
I had alot of questions I wanted to ask him. Needed to because there was no way I was uprooting my life with no explaination. And I think he saw that look in my eyes, because he gave me the run down on what was going on with everything. There was a war brewing and it all started wiht a missing demoness princess. She had allied with the fallen angels, and even some halflings (the offspring of humans and angels) that were wanting revenge on the angels. "There's something corrupt going on over there in Heaven as well." Loss commented, and he disappeared before reappearing. "I got you some tickets, I think we should move south from here as they're going ot try to stay away from the more south regions." he said, as he began to pack up my items, materializing a suitcase from thin air. "Why are they attacking though?" I asked, feeling my eye twitch a bit. "They got tired of waiting and decided to take matter into their own hands." he replied, and honestly, I got their vi
My eyes flash open, and there's a pain in my chest that makes it difficult for me to breathe. Using muscle memory, I yank down the glove compartment, and search desperately for the blue inhaler I keep stored in there. Nothing but papers, and straws are in there, and I press the palm of my hand to my chest, trying to apply pressure so I can breathe better. Warm hands touch me, and I flinch, wheezing a bit. It's Loss, and last night's events crash down on me, and he looks confused and concerned. "Inhaler..." I gasp out, and his face changes as he places his warm hands on under my breasts. A rush of warmth heats up, and I flinch away in case it gets too hot. But it doesn't; it stays the same heat, and gradually, breathing becomes easier. When he see the lack of strain on my face, he removes his hands. "Are you okay?" he asks, tucking a strand of my hair away from my face. "Yeah sorry, I had a asthma attack. It started because of my nightmare..." I trailed off, th
Loss must have heard the noise I made, because he was inside the bathroom at once. When he saw me dazed, and looking at nothing, he dashed towards me, slowly pulling me away from the wall. I didn't realize the hot water had turned cold, but my teeth chattered, and Loss wrapped a giant fluffy towel around me, squeezing the water out of my hair. That little action made me realize that I was cold, and very much so; shivers went through my body, and I clung to the towel as I tried to re-heat myself. Loss sensing my sudden movements, took a deep breath, and then the whole bathroom was filled with warmth, and a strange smell of smoke. I felt myself relax, then sniffed my arm in case the smell of smoke was on me. It wasn't thankfully, and Loss reached around me to lift me up and carry me. I protested, trying to move from his grasp, but he shot me a look, and I relented, muttering curse words to myself. We made it back into my room, and I waited for him to place
I felt like I couldn't breathe, the wheezing sounds coming from my harsh breathing. I felt that I was flat on my back, Loss's hands pressed on my face as he tried to make sure I didn't choke on my tongue. But I was hot and Loss was an open flame. I pushed him away, struggling to talk. My tongue felt fat, and lazy, and I wondered if I had bitten down on it. Loss is saying something, but the pounding in my ears shuts him out. And then suddenly the heat expands to the center of my chest running down to my belly. This calms me, and I begin to breathe slowly, and evenly. My tongue doesn't feel like a giant sponge anymore, and I sit up, the world swaying a bit. Loss is there again, and he helps me up, careful to not touch me as much in case I freak out again. He tenses up, and I look up at him confused. Since meeting him, I've never seen Loss get angry. He was calm, and collected, sometimes teasing. But there were flames dancing in his eyes, and his teeth greeted as blac
I am not strong. Those are my thoughts, as I lug Loss into the back of his car. He's so big, he just barely fits into the backseat; I have to bend his knees to be able to close the door. Once inside of the driver's side, I blow the hair off my face, shaking hands struggling to get into the ignition. I start the car, and peel out. I have no idea where we're going, but far from here sounds pretty good to me. We're in Tacoma, Washington, and it's about to snow. I have the windshield wipers going, and I'm driving at a much slower pace. People behind me start to honk, but I wave them off to go around me; I'm not about to risk my life for the sake of others. Loss doesn't wake up, though he does snore so loud, it vibrates the car. And on the plus side, he emits heat, so I don't even have to have the heater on. I decide that the best place to stay would either be a hotel or motel. The events of today have exhausted me, and I rub my dry eyes. When my stomach growls,
As I sleep, blue fog turns black and red all around me. The background is nothing but blank space that's turning gray. I take a step forward, noticing a form sitting on the ground, back to me. As I near it, I place my hand on the person's back, feeling the heat from him going into my hand. He turns, a perplexed expression on his face. "Loss!" I say, throwing my arms around him. He seems surprised, as he hugs me back gently, the flat of his palm sliding up and down on my back. It's a comforting touch, and I bury myself deeper in him; Loss is someone safe. "Josie? Are you okay?" he asks, pulling slightly back as he tries to get a good look at me. I don't know what he'll see if he does, and I feel myself shrink away from his gaze. "Is Amon dead?" he asks, and I shake my head no. He takes a quick breath, but says nothing. "I stabbed him with the holy stone." I said, and instantly Loss grabbed ahold of my hands, staring at my palms. I felt my fa
We both get up from he bed, and Loss uses his item manipulation to bring me some of my stuff. He can't do too much magic though, as he is a bit weakened from the holy stone. I asked him what would help him heal faster, and he responded with 'the souls of the damned.' I didn't know if he was joking; his face was somber when he told me. We headed out to get some food, Loss taking0 his wallet back from me. He tugged on my braid, since I had just finished with a shower, and I felt a lot cleaner. Since it was starting to get cold, I'd slipped on a beanie, and a thick coat that covered me from head to toe. I didn't wear gloves, as Loss's hands were always warm, and I found myself holding on to his. This isn't a date or anything like that, you're just holding hands with your guardian demon, I thought to myself, blushing. Loss looks at me strangely, but I shake my head not wanting to explain it. He lets me be, though, escorting me to the passenger's side of the ca
Everything feels off as I gaze at the demons that had tried to revive us back to life. My body has no aches and it feels like I've taken a long nap. Grogginess overcomes me, and I rub my eyes. Loss sits up looking down at himself, and then runs over to where I am, placing his hands on my face, and turning me this way and that. I slap his hands away, and he smiles, kissing both of my cheeks. "How do you feel?" Lucifer asks warily, dismissing the other demons. They bow, and disperse from the area. "I feel fine." I say, opening my hands and then closing them. "It's like sleep was all we needed to heal." Loss says, moving his arms up and down, as he stretches. "Well, something like that." Lucifer says, as he holds out the coin of Enoch, hand trembling. "This coin was activated by I don't know what, and then symbols appeared and settled over the both of you." We both stared at him as if he was crazy, but he sighed, handing the coin off to Loss. "I
The demons carry the bodies of Loss and Josie as they enter them into healing side of the castle, pressing hellfire stones on to their wound and skin. Their color is changing though at a quicker speed, looking more ash colored than anything. "The stones aren't working." one demon tells Lucifer, and he glares at the Enoch coin in his palm, a faint glow coming from it. "Those angels never know what's going on." Lucifer muttered, clenching the coin in his hand, as he ordered the other demons to bring in more hellstones, and to place it on all of the exposed skin they could. The demons nodded, placing them all over Loss, and Josie, and there was only a slight change in their ashy color. What are we going to do, Lucifer thought, these two were the only ones who had a chance to stop Asherah. Loss twitched in his sleep, his breathing becoming more labored. One demon placed his fingers just under his nostrils, trying to see if he could feel the
They barrel towards me, and I spring up, my wings helping me dodge their so many hands. I concentrate on not getting taken, zig-zagging from one place to the other. Loss is fighting them off, blinking from one spot to the next, his weapon glowing black like midnight. The sword cuts the creatures in half, or they lose a limb, black flames engulfing them. Something latches on my back then, and I cry out, fingers wrapping around my throat as I'm dragged down. Nonononono More hands grab my arms and legs in place, as they yank me down. Loss is in front of me, slicing the arms off of me. He grabs me, and I grip on the coin tightly. The limbs of the creatures twitch as the black flames eat them away. I close my eyes, and take a deep breath, letting the demon of me awaken. My wings are bigger, and the scales on my skin shine like a polished snake's. I look around, my eyesight now one of accurate aura reading. I glare and target them two at a time, ripping out their throats with my claw
The things crawl out of the destroyed remains of the cabin, it's one eye blinking as it tries to sniff me and Loss out. I can feel my body freeze in place in shock, having never seen whatever this was. Loss curses, and I struggle to be freed of his arms, as I don't want to weigh him down. But Loss holds on, and flies forward, the thing screeching behind us. I steal a glance, seeing how extra limbs appear then disappear to help with it's movements, it's neck stretching like an iguana's tongue, the bulbous head shifting from side to side from the weight of the head, and the weak support of the neck. The skin of the creature is grayed and peeling, crakcs showing around the nostrils, and eyes, long teeth looking like splintered wood. Shivers rushed through me as it locked eyes with me, beady red eyes staring me down. "Loss let me go." I whispered, and Loss blinks us out of existence, the familiar crackle of flames surrounding us making the location known. We're back in hell.We place
God is gone. Sealed away into a different part of the universe. But Asherah has escaped. And she is free. She knows exactly what she wants to do. We're up in the air, our wings tangled as we spin in slow circles. Loss has me against his bare chest, his warmth intermingling with my own. Music doesn't play, yet we continue to sway, and Loss kisses my temple, running a hand through my hair. I smile softly, leaning up to kiss his lips, and his arms around my waist tighten. Since the whole sealing-the-gods-away issue passed, it was just nothing but peace. The humans continuesd to worship their God, normalcy returned on earth. As thunder sounded, Loss looked into the distance. I wondered what he saw, or what he was thinking as his body tensed, and he held me away from the sky for a bit. "Loss." I said, cupping his face so he would look at me. He looked down, eyes tensed, mouth turned down. "It's okay. It's over." His gaze softens, and he presses h
There is a staircase that leads the upper world to the underworld. It's different, it's something that both demons and angels use. A truce was drawn up by Lucifer and the leader of the angels, though I'm not really sure of it. Loss and I spend our time on earth, glamoured as humans. I don't try to go back to my old life, cutting my ties with my adoptive family. Although it hurt, I made sure to erase the memories of me from them as well. Loss was there, a hand placed between my shoulder blades. His touch was always welcomed, bringing comfort. Since we returned back to earth from the hidden realm in heaven, things were different. I was more aware of him, and he was more alert of me in case there was danger ready to start again. I noticed that the burnt marks on his chest, and upper stomach were healed over, just the smallest of scars covering it. We go wherever we want, not hearing from Lucifer as much. He's busy working on the truce not just between the angels and d
The earth is running down as climate changes happen everywhere. In some places, the sun goes down, and never sets bak up, in other places the sun staying up to the point where no one knows what day it is. Ocean waves flood into the land, drowning land creautres and humans alike. The earth has cracked in certain areas, lave spilling free, and moving at a snail's pace, yet it still moves. Fear is strong, as the humans wait and cry out for someone to save them.Josie's POVWe look to Asherah, who has a blank expression on her face. She turns to the both of us, opening up a portal. "Time to go." she says, and before we can say anything, a crash hits hard, and the temple finally breaks down. Asherah tries not to feel effected by her last remaining temple that has existed is gone, but I can see tears build up. I have no words, and I grab Loss by his hand, pulling him forward. "I didnot SAY either of you could leave!" The portal snaps shut, and just like th
He didn't see her coming. Didn't know that the lower being would actually do it. Since the creature wasn't made by him, he couldn't make her see reason; she was defiant, justified, and stubborn. Just like his wife. When the grounds shook, and her temple was dusted by ash, God held his breath. And sure enough, there she was. The statue that he had never seen rising up from the ground, and then moving. Even from the distance, he could see her beauty. The same woman he had fallen in love with. She looked like she hadn't aged a day, the same glow she had that always surrounded her when she walked anywhere. When God had first seen her, he knew she was the one. He was right, but oh how she challenged him. Asherah had so many ideas, and so many creatures she wanted to try her hand at that just didn't match the idea in God's head. And though she was more into creating the plant life, and such, it was when she created some human life that God had put his foot down.
The temple of Ash is quiet as I sit in the middle. I am alone for the first time, my hands flat on the floor, my eyes closed. I've been sitting here waiting for something to happen. God hasn't returned back from wherever he went, and his wife has stayed silent since telling me that I could choose or not to drip my blood in her temple, and let her rise again. The choice was mine. I had alot of questions, but I didn't think that she would have the answers. I wanted to ask God why he was trying to bring her back. Would he bring back her temples, her place of worship? What was he thinking? I murmured some curse words, running my hands through my hair. It was getting tiresome not knowing what to do. Or having the ability to do something but not know if what I was doing was right or not. I stared down at my hands and wished Loss was here. I remember the first night I had been here, he had entered my body with his soul, assuring me that everything was going to be
