Tana's POV.
I stirred in my sleep, feeling discomfort and pain. I slowly opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling. A frown settled on my face, seeing the unfamiliar ceilings. Slowly pushing myself up while biting my lower lip, I tried to fight the pain from my aching body. I groaned when I put too much pressure on my wrist. I sighed, lifting my hand to check the wound on my wrist, which I clearly remembered, given the fact that I inflicted that myself. There was a bandage on my wrist and every jury on my body was already dressed. How come? I wondered inwardly as I took my time, looking around the unfamiliar room. I swung my legs down the pain, trying to walk to the door, but I failed in my attempt. My legs were hurting with marks caused by my rocks. I slumped to the ground the moment I tried to balance my weight, and just then a knock resounded. Glancing up, I stared at the closed door that was suddenly pushed open and someone stepped in briefly. My eyes scanned the lady quickly, and I realized how strikingly beautiful she was. She also looked strong, just like the warrior type. She frowned instantly when she saw me on the floor and hastily rushed towards me. Placing her arm around my waist, she put my hand over her shoulders and pulled me up. "Are you okay? You should rest if you're still feeling pains," she advised thoughtfully, helping me back to the bed."Where…" I trailed off, my throat was burning. I needed water. "where am I?" I forced myself to speak through the pain, but instead of an answer, she pulled back. "I'll go get you water. I'll be right back," she said calmly before stepping out. I sighed, looking at my wounds, but something felt different about me. It was as if I were in a whole new body, but I shrugged the thoughts away when she came back with a glass of water. "Here take this," she offered, stretching her hand towards me. Without hesitance, I took the water and drank the entire content. I could feel her gaze on me the entire time as I drank the water and gave her back the cup. I had a curious look on her face and I knew she had questions, but she didn't voice them out. "You should rest," she advised, but I shook my head. "I want to know where I am first?" I said firmly, and she looked at me with furrowed brows. "You're currently in the Hell Guard's territory. The Alpha brought you in yesterday. You were badly injured, so I'd advise that you rest," she spoke, but I could barely hear her clearly as I thought deeply about her first words. Their alpha brought me in? Could it be the wolf that attacked those vampires yesterday? Why did he save me, though? And he even brought me into his pack. That was rather bold of him, but if he brought me here, then I believe there must be a motive behind it. Gone were those days when I believed every good deed was pure and genuine. Not after the event that happened in my life, now I believe there was something that made him save me and I needed to know what his reasons were, but first I needed to protect myself from these unknown people. They might be welcoming, but I had to be aware of them. I have gone through many hurdles in life, I can't be naive. I knew they probably didn't know who I was, so I could at least hide my true identity from them. For all I know, they might be enemies of the middle forest. "Back to earth," she snapped her fingers in front of me. I turned to look at her, a bit startled. "What are you thinking so deeply about?" She asked, but I ignored her. "I want to go meet the person who brought me here," I replied with a stern voice instead. She stared at me for a moment. "Well we definitely can't go like this. You need to at least take a bath and look presentable before you meet him," she advised. I frowned. Did I look that bad? Maybe I did after all. I almost spent a day in the wilderness and was chased by vampires. I sighed as I nodded at her, but I realized she was looking at me with a curious gaze again. Whatever she had in mind, I hope she will keep it to herself. I wasn't ready to answer her questions because I had mine to ask as well."You should take a bath. There's a bathroom over there, and new clothes in the wardrobe. You can make use of it, while I get breakfast for you," she informed me before leaving me alone again in the quiet room. I looked at my sore legs and sighed in frustration. Just thinking about how to go to the bathroom made me wince in pain. I finally got the courage and limped to the bathroom. After the relaxing back I walked around, but there was no dresser. Left with no choice, I got the clothes from the wardrobe and just then a knock came, disrupting my thoughts. I glanced at the door and just like before, the door was gently pushed open. Someone then stepped in, and it was different from the other lady, who made me realize that I didn't quite get her name. "I see you're dressed. The alpha would love to have a word with you," she informed them and walked out before I could respond. She left the door open behind me as I sign that I should follow behind her. "How inconsiderate," scoffed, murmuring to myself as I followed her, limping behind her with a hurt expression. She paused in front of a door and pushed it open. "Alpha she's here," she announced then turned to me. "Come inside," she said before bowing towards him and stepping out of the room. During my walk here, I was making a mental note on what to do and say. I barely knew these people and what they wanted from me, their interior motives for saving me were. I slowly stepped into the room, ready to change my past and my identity. "Good morning," I said with a lowered gaze. "Good afternoon," he replied, correcting me. My eyes snapped towards him instantly. My mouth fell immediately, and my gaze fell on top of him. My eyes widened, seeing the beauty this man possessed. His sharp jaws, straight pointed nose and masculine build. He really looked like an alpha, with the bulky figure and an aura that called for attention. "What?" I asked, raising a brow. "It's almost midday," he told me, his eyes slowly scanning me. "How's you injured?" He asked with a concerned look. "I'm okay. I heard you wanted to talk to me," I said immediately, going straight to the point. "I wanted to know why you were in the wilderness alone," he started with a frown. "And chased by vampires." I looked around the room, finding it difficult to keep myself in a standing position. He noticed it and immediately offered a seat, gesturing to a seat. "I… um… it's a personal story," I said, unable to come up with something believable. I better leave it that way. He didn't push further and instead asked my name. I thought for a while, trying to pick from the list of names I had prepared in my head. "My name is Caroline," I replied finally."Well Caroline, welcome to the pack. This is a HellGuard pack, and my name is Jackson," he introduced. My throat felt dry just by hearing the depth of his voice, but I forced myself to speak. "Well, Jackson, I have something that can be of use to you," I started with a raised chin. He narrowed his gaze and waited for me to continue. "There's a hunting ground that is safe from the vampires," I revealed, but he frowned with a suspicious look. "Why are you telling me this?" He asked almost immediately. I gulped deeply. "Because I wanted to save my mother," I replied. He frowned. "your mother. Why? What happened to her?" He asked. "She's in the middle forest and I need to get her from there. If you help me get her, then I'll help you with the hunting ground." I offered, but he leaned back slowly. "And why do you think I can't get the place without your help?" I asked, but I almost scoffed. "Because I know the place more than you do. So is it a deal or not?" I raised a brow. He seemed to hesitate, but after deep thought, he finally agreed. "What happened to you? You seem weak, which can only be possible with the disconnection of your wolf," he pointed out. I shrugged. "Well I can't really remember what happened," I replied nonchalantly. "Have you had breakfast then?" He asked again, but I shook my head. "Then Lauwren will take care of that," he said, and just then someone knocked on the door. The lady from earlier stepped in, her gaze landed on me before they shifted to Jackson. "Breakfast is ready," she informed, and he waved. "Take the lady with you," he told her, and she nodded as she looked at me before walking out. I stood up to follow her out after sparing him a glance. The rest of the days went by, and my wound slowly healed, but I felt bored and tired because I couldn't train with the others. I was disconnected with my wolf; thus I was momentarily weak. So I could only use the indoor combat room. "Hey, why are you looking sad?" Lauwren sat beside me and nudged me at the side. I heaved a sigh. "I want to train as well," I replied, and she smiled. Her smile made her look pretty. We've been losing up to each other and I realized how free I was already here. Was it because she was a witch? That I was uncertain. "Why don't you just use the indoor training room instead?" She recommended it. I finally nodded in agreement, and she joyfully pulled me up. On our way there, I noticed how everybody seemed to turn their heads towards me every time I walked past them.Especially the men, they seemed stunned somehow, something I never experienced before. Although I felt the chance somehow. My body looked entirely different from how it was before and giving it a deeper thought, I noticed that I felt my skin change drastically from the dull color as it radiated. My thoughts were cut short when Lauwren threw a sword towards me. "Let's start," she said sternly with excitement. I nodded at her, and soon she started striking with her sword while she blocked and dodged her attacks. She tried not to hurt me, but even her little strikes felt hard because of how weak I was. She swung her swords towards me and I belatedly tried to block it with my arm in and the sword cut through skin. I winced in pain while she quickly dropped her sword and rushed towards me. "Are you okay? I tried not to strike too hard," she said with a regretful expression upon seeing the blood that gushed out from the wound. "Oh no. It's not your fault. I was just that week," I revealed, and she frowned. "Come let's dress the wound," she said, pulling me up, but something felt weird as some members of the pack stared at me with an unfathomable look in their eyes. Lauwren led me to the changing room. "I'll go get the aid box," she relayed and turned to leave, but she gasped with a frown when she saw some members standing inside the room. How did they get in? I nodded the dark look in their eyes as they stared at her, but then moved their gaze to me. I swallowed, seeing as the dark look intensified. Pushing past them in a blink, Lauwren tried to open the door but realized that it was locked. She stepped back with a fearful look, taking cautious steps back. "If you do anything…" she started with threats, but they growled at her, cutting her off briefly before turning towards me. My legs wobble as I step back in fright. What were they up to? My stomach twitched in fear and just before they could launch at me specifically, the door to the room got slammed open, revealing Jackson, who had a deadly look on his face.Jackson's POV.I scanned her length the moment she stepped into the room. Her eyes were down as she greeted, clearly unaware of the time of the day. She looked stunned when I corrected her. Her eyes snapped towards me, but she held her breath the moment our eyes met. I could feel a spark at the moment. Her mouth fell open in awe as she stared back. She quickly came out of her shock as she cleared her through, which confused me. Was she just in shock and didn't actually feel something?Because I could feel the strong connection with her and I noticed how close we stood, something she didn't realize even after looking around for a seat. I could barely take my eyes off her, but she could do it freely without any delay, which made me question everything. The unknown feelings I had towards her and the connection that only I could feel. Why was she the only one oblivious about it?After gesturing to a chair close to the table in my office, I walked around to sit in front of her.Caroline. H
Caroline's POV.I frowned seeing the numerous bodies that lay dead on the floor with a little chance of them surviving, and the frown deepened on my face with just the thought of it. How could this happen to them? Who did this to them?My gaze searched the place, and suddenly, I stopped instinctively, smelling a particular scent that could only belong to one person. My heart sped up in fear as my gaze finally landed on a toy that looked oddly familiar. I remembered my father got me that when he was still alive. My legs instinctively moved towards it curiously until I reached it and leaned over, my heart sank, seeing the unrecognizable body of my mother. My legs trembled as I crouched down to inspect her face, but after looking further I became sure that it was my mother lying about the group of dead bodies.I covered my mouth in utter shock as I stared with a tearful gaze. "M-mum. What happened?" My voice broke while I slowly reached for her almost cold hand. I could barely believe it
Jackson's POVSeeing her devastating state and how she cried over one of the dead bodies was disheartening. I walked over to her after inspecting the bodies carefully. I had a hunch that something was behind this. Kneeling on one knee, I drew her close into my arms, trying to comfort her, and she didn't object or try to pull away.I felt her body weaken in my arms as she went unconscious. I quickly carried her in a bridal style, but I paused when I felt someone walking towards me. The atmosphere became tense as my gaze searched for the course until they landed and the man walking towards me, who I recognized immediately with a glance. He looked furious, but what baffled me was the aura about him. I could sense something bad from him, and it made me alert as I watched him with a suspicious gaze. Someone was beside him and the person kept glancing around, noticing the dead bodies."What are you doing here?" I asked when he walked a bit closer. He narrowed his gaze at the lady in my arms
Caroline's POVI blinked in surprise as I tried to absorb the shock that he knew Tana, but how? I knew I hadn't seen his face before, and I doubt he was from the middle forest too, so how then did he know of Tana? But what caught me off guard was the sadness on his face when he told him that she was dead and long gone.Besides to me, Tana was indeed dead, killed by those monsters and gone with my mother's spirit and the one left is the lingering spirit that was set to take revenge for the innocent side that was oblivious of the world around her. I would never make that mistake of being fooled by the people I trusted. I've learned from my pain and past. However, this man confused me with his sudden question. I tried to read his expression, but he turned his face to the other side. His attempt to hide his expression only baffled me further, and I stared at him with a perplexed expression.I lowered my gaze as I got buried in deep thoughts. Caroline's POV I groaned and stretched on the bed, my muscles strained as I stretched and yawned. I couldn't remember the last time I slept so well. I never thought I'd enjoy the mundane feeling it brought, but halfway through my stretching, I heard a voice from close by. "You must've enjoyed your night," a masculine voice made me jerk from the bed as I turned to the side, with an accusing look. Wondering what a man was doing in my room when my eyes met Jackson, who had a rueful smile on his lips as he stood beside where I sat on the bed. "W-what are you doing here?" I asked, instinctively pulling the sheets up to my chest as his scrutinizing gaze made me feel vulnerable. He crossed his hands over his chest as he tipped his head to the side. "What do you mean?" He asked with a slightly creased face. "Why are you in my room?" I snapped almost immediately and his face switched, and a muscle tickled on his jaw. I swallowed, thinking he was angry at my admission but was greatly stunn
Caroline's POVLauwren threw the sword towards me and I caught it in midair. She drew a sword from a sword and faced me, she had an expressionless face.Swinging the swords in the air and stood my ground, ready to play defense for a while before striking, and she took the bait. She instantly started attacking me mercilessly. I was surprised by her strength because I knew that she was just being gentle with me, and she was stronger. I tried to keep my stand as her attack became stronger as well, hitting harder without resting. After she was done attacking and having a hard time breathing, I took the opportunity to start attaching instead. She dodged each swing and kicked the sword from my hand. She was the only one holding the sword now, and she immediately swung into my direction but dodged the attack and went behind her, hitting her hand holding the sword, and it fell from her grip. There we stood without swords. She folded her fists and I did the same. This was the thrilling thing a

Caroline's POVI snapped out of my shock when he suddenly ordered his men to tie me down on the floor. I groaned when they roughly loosened me and dragged me from the chair, their tight grips on my arms almost distorted my arms as I felt like my bones would soon be crushed."Look at me!" He demanded, and I forced my teary eyes to stare at his ugly face. "What do you say about a bite? Just imagine the humiliation Jackson would feel once I sink my fang into that slender fair neck of us." He trailed his fingers along the lines of my neck down my collarbone, and he looked enchanted, his gaze glued to my neck as they followed the movement of his eyes."Maybe more than a bite would be great. It depends on how divine your blood tastes," he murmured, and as his eyes went further to the little cleavage of my dress. I felt the urge to throw up, greatly disgusted by his perverted thoughts. I struggled, trying to free my hands, but they pulled my hands back painfully, almost twisting it.I shriek
Caroline's POV"Good morning, Luna," a maid passing by greeted me as she walked past me. I was getting used to the new title, and I wasn't really shocked by how they addressed me. I felt somehow satisfied recently. With the fact that phoenix was back, and I had my powers back. However, I felt stronger and faster than before, almost making me unpredictable whenever I launched an attack.Lauwren was having a hard time beating me whenever we trained and she also pointed out that I was stronger than before. I looked around as the maid busied around, trying to rearrange the place which was the evidence of the ceremony that took place.Jackson had been smiling since the day we fought the vampires off. "Luna, is there something you want me to assist you with?" A servant asked, walking towards me.Shaking my head, "no, thank you," I responded."Luna, Jackson wants to have a word with you in his office," another came from behind.
