LEAH

You could always trust Francis to pick out the perfect dress, and shoes for any event. I stared at my reflection in the mirror, admiring my waistline.

The dress Francis had picked flowed to the ground, but it had a bare back. Just a few stripes were tied to form a bow at the waistline.

I applied the last touch of makeup, and sprayed my hair.

“Should I leave it down, or take it up?” I asked myself in a low tone,

After much consideration, I decided to leave it the way it had already been-down.

As I walked down from the stairs, I was met with Francis who was already prepared, and ready to leave.

“Are you done?” He asked,

“Yeah,” I replied, hurrying towards him.

“You know there's no rush, right? If you're not comfortable with this, you can just cancel.”

I nodded. I knew quite well, but I'd be damned if I said I hadn't been waking up every morning for the past six months, waiting for when I could destroy that motherfucker.

He held my hand, and led me through the doors.

Soon enough,

LEAHI huffed and puffed, waiting for him to make the next move. He chuckled, triggering the anxiety within me.“Leah, come here now.”I didn't move a single inch forward.“This fucking bitch,” he grunted, moving towards me.I winced as he grabbed my hands.“Let me go, or I'll scream. The entire restaurant will hear me.” I threatened,“You think I give any fuck? With the show you just put out there, you'd best believe everyone already thinks you have mental issues. I just need to confirm it, and it's done.”His grip on my hands tightened. I winced even more, as he pulled me forward. The tears started to well up my eyes. I wanted to cry out, but I just couldn't. The sobs choked me into silence as he pulled me towards the back way.As he struggled moving forward, an idea popped up.I dug my teeth into his fingers. His cry came out loud, and he smacked me right across the cheek. “What the fuck do you think you're doing?!” His voice thundered,He had successfully pulled me towards the ki

LEAH “You have a lot of passion, I like it.” Drew commended me.I nodded. He had no idea how long I had been waiting for a moment like this. One where I could teach Lucas that he was just a beginner at being evil.I was my father's daughter after all…“Well, here's my card.” Drew tossed the card at me, “if you ever need to reach out to me privately. Please call my assistant, she'll tell you what to do.”Taking the card from Drew was awkward, but I received it nonetheless.“I'm waiting for you to reach out,” he said, then walked away. The table grew quiet as soon as he left. Francis angrily poked at his meal.I knew he wasn't mad at me…or so I thought, but I couldn't ask why he was so pissed.“Are you alright?” I tried to ask.“Um, yeah. I'm good.” He replied,A few seconds passed before he said another thing, “It's really crazy how much Lucas has hurt you. He didn't even treat you like a human.”I shrugged, “that's behind us now, isn't it? Your brother is getting me help so I can ma

LEAHFrancis dropped the spoon in his hand, “what do you mean?” He asked, narrowing his eyes on me.“I committed a crime. Murder.” I repeated, with a shaky voice. He kept staring at me without saying a word. Slowly, his lips parted, and he began to speak, “how?” He moved away from the food, and sat opposite me.“You remember when you left? I was nineteen.”He nodded.I wiped my nose before I continued speaking, “so, after you left, and in the way you did, I was heartbroken. You know, at first, no one had known that your father got you into the army. I was convinced that you had run off into another country, and left me. I'm not blaming you for this, but it was what led to the rest of the story. Kate had noticed my sour mood, and depressing state. She had suggested that we go to a party to find your replacement. It seemed like a good plan at that time. If I could get someone that would be interested in me, I would be able to forget you. So, the party was hosted by…um…there's this Ger

  • The return of the billionaire heiress.   Foul play.

LEAHI arrived at the cafe at exactly fifty two minutes past twelve.I sighed as I walked in.Whoever the attorney was, they must surely be exhausted waiting for me. But who could blame me? I had no vehicle to transport myself, and soon after I received the text, I realized I had nothing to wear. The only clothings I owned were the dress I had on my back when Francis picked me up, and the dress he bought for me last night. I ended up settling for one of Francis's shirts and trousers. Also, a baseball cap.I looked around the cafe, and there appeared to be only one person dressed in a two piece designer suit. I looked at his face, and he had a grim expression on. His lips faced downward, and his eyebrows were so bent they seemed like they'd almost touch his eyelids.Yeah, it had to be him. It was either that or there was another extremely annoyed, and rich man waiting for someone.I walked up to him.“Hi, I'm looking for-”“Mrs Irving,” he greeted, rising to his feet. His face com

LEAHAs I pondered on his words, I considered the possibility of what he had said. Truly, there could be a foul play.I snapped my fingers, nodding as the piece all came together in my head.“Ah! I get it now!” I exclaimed out,Phlux’s attention was pulled, “what do you get now?”“Your claim of foul play. It explains why, when I was held captive in that house with his soon to be baby mama, they would always hide her when we had guests. They would make me come out to pretend I was still his wife. I always wondered why he needed them to think we were still married and happy, even when he had all that money. It all makes sense now...”“You see? His attorney must be really good for him to be able to come up with such a brilliant idea. However, things like this have happened before and failed.”“We really need to take him down. The fact that he's a deceitful liar, and abuser is enough for him to be ruined.” I growled out,“You might want to keep your emotions aside for now. If you want to

LEAH“ I understand what you're saying,” I reply, “I've lived with the man myself and I can tell how nasty he can get to protect his greed.”“Exactly.”I sighed, taking the last sip of my drink. I looked around, searching for where I could dump the cup. As soon as he noticed, he retrieved it from my hands.“Mr Phlux, thank you for your time, but I need to look at other things. There are some things that I need to set in place before I set the plan to motion.”“That's alright,” he replied.I had expected him to press on, wanting to know all that was going on, but he didn't. I wouldn't have told him either way.“Is there a way to reach out to you when I need your help?”“Of course,” he replied, pulling out his card.I received it, stared at the golden edge lamination, and placed it in my pocket.“Should I drive you back to your place?” He offered,I shook my head, “I'm good, thanks.” With that, I stepped out of the car. This time he was slamming the door profusely.“Scan the area! Find a way, get in, and get that bitch out for me!” He screamed, I walked into the room’s closet, and hid in there.“Hello,” I spoke into the phone again, but there was no response, “Hello-hel- hello!” “I can hear you!” Francis's grunt came out loud, I looked to realize I had muted him a while ago.“What's going on, Leah?”“Lucas. He's in the house.”“What?!” He jumped, I heard chairs screech around him. “How did he get in?”“He hasn't gotten in, yet, but he's at the door. The people he came with are trying to find a way for him to come in, and get me. Francis please come home, I'm scared. Please. Please.”“It's okay. I'm on the line with estate security right now. LEAHFrancis stayed with me for the rest of the day, and I was grateful for that. I sat in the kitchen while he dished the food he had ordered. I couldn't help but constantly look over my shoulder, just in case.“Did you lock the door after the police left?” I asked,He sighed, “yes, I did. There are also five men standing at different points of this house. At our gate, there are more security men. You have nothing to worry about.”“Yeah, you're right,” I tried to gaslight myself into believing it, “you're right. I'm safe.”He held my eyes, “you are.” He reinforced.I took a deep bite of my meal. The doorbell rang, and I almost jumped off my seat.“It's probably the dress I ordered,” Francis said out loud, trying to soothe me. He wiped his hands with a towel, and went for the door. I remained in the kitchen, listening as he spoke to the stranger there.“If you could sign, sir.” The stranger said,A few seconds later, I heard a “thank you,” and the door was shut. He leaned back on his chair, then finally leaned towards me. I was still by the door, with it slightly adjusted.“That's Kate's child,” he corrected,I clenched my jaw, biting back the words.“What do you say? Are you with me on this or not?”“I'm not with you on anything. You want to adopt a child? Go on, I'm not stopping you, but I won't be a part of it.”“This is your child!”“It's Kate's child.”My lips parted, and I was about to preach on how insensitive he was, but I clamped my lips shut. It was Lucas. Why had I expected better?I turned around, and walked out of his office. As soon as

He tucked at his suit, and straightened his shoulders.“We need to be a team. Your uncle is the enemy, not me.”I glared at him, but didn't say a word as I retreated back to my seat.“Do you like your position in this company?”“Why? Do you want to take that away too? Haven't you taken enough from me?”“I'm not taking anything. Just listen to me. I can give you a permanent spot at this table, but you and I know your uncle is the common enemy. One chance, and he'll displace us permanently.”I looked him dead in the eye, “There is no way in hell you're trying to negotiate my father's company with me.”“Look, I'm not negotiating, I'm just-”I saw the desperation in his eyes, a

She was the first to come up.As I scrolled through, I searched for whatever I could use to debunk whatever he was trying to do.Martina had a master's degree in finance and accounting. A first class degree. She was good.I had submerged myself into reading her profile, until Mary's voice pulled me off guard.“I called, and Mr Drew is not home.” Where the hell could he have gone to?“Were you informed on where he could be?” I asked,“Yes, he's at work.”I released a deep sigh, as I pinched my forehead. “Don't worry about it, thank you.” She nodded, and walked out.The intercom buzzed, and I heard Scarlett's voice.“We are all expected to

There are already whispers about you, missing a day will give them a topic.”I didn't want to move an inch, but he had bit the bullet at the right point.I walked into my closet. I heard the doctor's voice as he came in, and I blocked their voices out.Soon enough, I had picked what I wanted to wear, and I changed into it.As I walked out of the room, Drew's eyes met mine one more time. “Get well soon,” I wished,He nodded, and I left the house.I knew I was an hour late for work. Fine.” He didn't argue,I ended the call abruptly. As I wrapped the bed sheet over myself, sleep cuddled me like a warm blanket.THE NEXT MORNING.The blaring sound of the alarm woke me the next morning. With a groan, I picked up my phone, and swiped it off. What was even the time? I looked at the clock. Five am. It was good enough, I could start preparing for work.I got off the bed, and was about heading into the shower when I recalled none of the maids had brought in my outfit for today last night.Drew's perfectly worming team had forgotten my clothes, but they were somehow perfect at gossiping.I sucked in my teeth, and opened the door.To my surprise, a body fell on the floor. My pupils widened as his head hit the carpet.“Drew!” I screamed out, surprised. His eyelids flickered twice, and then a silent groan escaped his lips.In a bid to help him up, I grabbed his arms. LAEL“I've solved your problems”I opened my eyes immediately. He walked past me, and towards the bench.I closed my lips, and wiped the shame from them. The lights were dim, but bright enough for me to see his full physique. He took off the black gloves on his hands.“What do you mean?” I asked, not moving.“Your problem, I solved it.”“What problem?” “The murder accusation.” He replied, as he threw the leather gloves into the trash can.“How?” That was all I could ask. Nothing seemed to make any sense. He started to unbutton his equally black shirt, “Do you really want to know how?” “Yes,” He grunted, as he took the shirt off, and tossed it into the trash can too. He then took off his socks, and shoes. They got the same fate as the rest of his clothings.“Call a guard for me,”“No.”His eyes flickered, “Don't be stubborn, call a guard.”I refused to move.He sighed, picked up his phone, and I heard the buzzing sounds.“Boss,” I could hear his right hand’s voice.“Come to the gard

LEAHHe didn't say a word to me as he walked off.I heard his footsteps disappear, and I walked to the living room.Less than a minute later, his car revved. The metals of the gate clanked on each other, and his car soon disappeared from the compound.I touched my lips gently, still able to feel Francis's lips. What had I done? No. What did he do?He kissed me in his brother's house! He was married, and he kissed me in his brother's home.I took a deep breath, trying to stabilize myself. This was all shades of wrong.I headed straight for my room. It was impossible to deal with everything at the moment. As soon as I laid on the bed, I picked up my phone, and scrolled through. Kristy had made a post from my account. With a picture attached, she wrote,“I have heard your concerns, and I have seen your posts. The slander, the defense- all of it. I liked her at that moment.“With all that has been said, and done, I believe this meeting has come to a considerable end.” Drew acknowledged. They all nodded.“Have a goodnight,”One after the other, the room was emptied. Drew, Francis, and I were the last three.Francis stared deeply at his brother who refused to acknowledge his presence.“Dad wants to see all of us”Francis winced, “why?” “Why?” He chuckled, “Take a good guess.” His reply was crisp.“Is he coming to us, or are we going to see him?” Francis enquired, yet again.“I came to you,” a deep voice replied.I turned to find their father standing at the doorway. We all rose to our feet immediately.“Dad,” Francis's voice shook slightly. His father walked

Drew, upon hearing our voices, came in.He occupied the head of the table, whilst bus brother sat at his right hand. The dining room could hold twelve, and we all occupied it.“Good evening, everyone.” Drew addressed, as his eyes roamed from me to the others. “I believe we all have an idea of what we are here to do.” There was no comment. He cleared his throat, and continued, “Mrs Irving is under a serious accusation. Murder, to be precise.” He turned to Vivian, “give us the legal details.”She raised her chin, “Today being the nineteenth of April, Mrs Leah Irving was served papers on the accusation of her former acquaintance, Kate.” She paused, “Although there has been no official arrest, she was invited to the station to make a statement. As at one pm, Mrs Leah was present at the station, and at two-thirty the interview began. An hour later, she was released. Under normal circumstances, she was to be in a cel
