CHAPTER 6: A Fresh Start

Freya's POV

The cold-blooded bastard Lobo materialized in the corridor, flanked by a phalanx of soldiers and his favorite whore Lupa.

"Alpha Silas, honestly, you shouldn't be here interfering in my family affairs." Lobo, his hands locked at his sides, stared at Silas and spat arrogantly.

Silas grinned, grasping my hand and haughtily tilting his chin as he looked at Lobo. "Whether you agree with it, Freya Brown is my destined partner. She's coming along with me."

I glanced down at the hand around my own quivering one. Silas's wild and warm hand was so comforting, especially after I'd been poisoned by the witch who wanted him for herself and deceived by my beloved. The warmth was a pleasant relief from the dungeon's chill.

But with Lobo having just deceived and wounded me, I was skeptical of this unexpected apparition of my destiny's spouse.

"What are you doing, Freya? This is our buddy, so don't think twice! I'm ecstatic at the moment!"

Chloe, calm down! I am unable even to consider this at this time." I smothered Chloe's enthusiasm and fixed my intense gaze on Lobo.

"Freya is indeed your destiny, mate? No, That isn't achievable. Lobo's face twisted into a mask of wrath, and he fumed. "She's a Nightfall Pack prisoner," exclaimed Lupa, who was still cowering behind me and appeared shocked. You are unable to take her."

Silas, nevertheless, was not going to pay attention to Lobo. He released my hand and gestured for me to take a step back. I was the unfortunate Luna whom her mate deceived, and once I did so, his once attractive golden pupils appeared to explode as a force surged out from his body, shattering the walls of the jail that had been built to confine werewolves safely.

Silas's might display clearly intimidates the guards, as seen by their worried glances up at the roof, which groaned menacingly above them.

"Freya, be careful with your steps," Silas murmured, gently escorting me out of my cell and covering me with his cloak. I felt the scent of cedar envelope me, making my face flush.

He seemed to be planning to swagger out of here as he extended his hand and brought me closer in line with his shoulder.

"It's again, Alpha Silas: you don't have the right to steal Freya! She's my spouse. Lobo, with Lupa still holding to his coattails behind him, yelled as he stood before us and tried to block our path.

Silas's grip tightened around my fingers as he frowned, glancing over the two confidently standing before him before bursting into laughter. Did the message miss its mark? Was that demonstration insufficient to prove to you my abilities?"

Lobo scowled as his face darkened. He motioned for the men surrounding him to strike, but they didn't make much of a move.

"Are all of you cowards? Have you missed my order? "Prevent the Luna from departing!"

Lobo's rage caused the guards to recoil, and one by one, they took out their firearms. I had to agree. The scene the haughty bastard had set looked quite good as they spread out to cover the land between Silas and the exit, Lobo in front of them.

Even though Silas's strength was remarkable, I was still concerned that he might be unable to manage that many people alone.

Silas, though, appeared to find the whole thing funny for some reason. With a chuckle that made his shoulders tremble, he hugged me.

Silas's laughing incensed Lobo and the guards, who, in a matter of seconds, partially transformed, turning their deadly claws into weapons, and launched an assault on Silas as a group. I frantically yelled out to Chloe, but Silas stopped me as we were ready to switch.

A scream rang out in the hallway, and I turned to face Lobo's guards to see what was happening. In an instant, more than half of Lobo's troops were annihilated as a significant number of his guards were hurled against the wall one by one. Their screams were accompanied by the sounds of their bones breaking.

With his teeth exposed and his claws poised, a green-haired figure emerged from the tumultuous crowd, and it was immediately apparent that he was the one causing the devastation.

"-it took you long enough," Silas remarked cynically.

"Clearly. How am I expected to follow you?"

The man with green hair approached me and bent his head politely. Hi there, Freya. You're even more gorgeous than I had anticipated, I must say. I am Leo, the Embermoon pack's beta.

"How does a Beta have this level of power!?"

I could hear Chloe's voice in my brain, expressing her amazement at the scene of destruction in front of us, just like I did.

With such power at their disposal, I can't even comprehend the pack my fated mate commands. Were all of them this powerful?

Afraid, Lobo and Lupa stood on the other side of the hallway. In Lobo's arms, Lupa had utterly passed out and was hardly able to stand. Regarding Lobo, he would have been embarrassed if another Alpha had destroyed his troops with such ease, but since Silas was involved, it was a little easier to take.

"Get out of the way, Lobo," Leo smiled and approached them, making a sarcastic gesture that suggested he was pleading with them for help.

Without attempting to lash out, Lobo caressed the scars on his face as though he remembered something. He moved cautiously towards me, letting go of Lupa and allowing her to drop to the ground.

Silas's hand came up from behind my shoulder and slid before me, blocking Lobo's way as I gave him a chilly glance.

He stopped walking and lifted his head to glance at Silas. "Alpha Silas, I need to have a brief conversation with my Luna—that is, Freya. It won't be too long. Lobo stated with deference.

Silas gave me the death gaze, which made Lobo stop calling me Luna and start calling me by name. When I looked at the man in front of me, I saw a different person from the one I had been in love with for so long. He was only apathetic and lazy in the face of Silas's strength.

I softly whispered, "Luke," enjoying the sound of my name as I spoke for the first time. "Let me talk to him." For him, there ought to be some resolution."

"Okay, I'll wait for you here." Silas smiled charmingly and nodded. He took a few steps back and glared at Lobo while folding his arms in front of him.

"Freya, I'll forgive you for all you did, including your mistakes. Give up being tough. Reclaim your position and become the Luna you were meant to be." I bit back the sarcastic snort that threatened to burst out of my mouth. Pardon my errors. I am the one who is being challenged? After he was the one who had deceived me, how could he say such things to me?

"Have you forgotten that I no longer have a pack or title? I turned you down." I spoke, emphasizing the last sentence so he could understand it.

Suddenly, Lobo's expression collapsed into a mask of rage. "Freya! We swore to the Moon Goddess!"

You're correct—we did. Since you were the one who initially deceived us, I sincerely hope that you suffer the full brunt of her judgment and the sentence she determines.

"I never betrayed you! I had to, and I just met my fated mate."

"Had to put me in a musty old cell in the dungeon?" "Let your wife of three years be pushed aside to make way for a woman who comes from goddess knows where?" I savagely interrupted. I pray so much that the Moon Goddess sees you in this light."

Before Lobo could touch me, Silas reached out to grab my shoulder. I barely had time to respond before he suddenly materialized in front of me. Then I felt a surge of wind go by me, and the next thing I knew, Silas was slamming Lobo into the wall. Silas held him in place with one hand, and I heard his shoulder crack.

"Lobo!" I was instantly reminded of that whore's existence in the room by Lupa's terrified cry that echoed throughout the room.

Flying towards her, I grabbed her arm and gave it a hard twist, causing her to fall. Bending down, I whispered in her ear. "Lupa, I am fully aware of what you did and who you are—a witch. This is my notice that I will exact my retribution on you eventually."

Her countenance changed from innocent and infantile to dread, and I watched with joy as it happened.

With a smug grin, I got up and noticed that Lupa was sitting immobile on the ground, having trouble processing what I had spoken, while Lobo was gripping his shattered shoulder with a spiteful stare. I felt sorry for the once-dominant guards as they fell to the ground and cried out in fear. I just wanted it all over, be it this farce or my three-year marriage to that guy.

I turned to face Silas, who was rolling down his sleeves and walking towards me amid the weeping crowd.

He smiled gently, leaned forward a little, and held his hand to me. "So, Freya, are you going to accompany me? My dear.”

His golden gaze nearly drew me in, and I felt my heart leap with anticipation. I gingerly put my hand in his and grinned uncertainly at him. "Of course."

Will you be my fresh start? Silas
