Ann watched as Lucas got out of the car without bothering to glance in her direction completely ignoring her existence.
“Lucas,” she called after him but the blockhead was already by the side of the road getting ready to cross. Her eyes widened in shock as she poke her head out of the window to get a better view of him. So what, he was going to walk home because he was not in the mood for their conversation, “What a dick,” she mumbled under her breath and hurriedly pushed the door of the car open. She wasn't letting him out of her sight that easily and besides their conversation was far from over. “Luc_,” she tried calling again but the rest she had of it died down in her throat as she watched as Lucas crossed the road like a blind fool, causing cars to blow their horns at him and some to stop abruptly. “Oh fuck, he really is crazy.” Ann immediately went after him but right after she ensured it was safe to cross the road. She was not planning on dying soon and some reckless man was not going to push her to an early death. When she finally reached the other side, she immediately spotted Lucas in front of a cafe staring widely at the girl standing in front of it with wide eyes. “Lucas,” she was meant to shout it but it came out in a small voice as Lucas reached down to grab the woman's hand with a smile. Ann was taken aback. It wasn't like she was jealous but at least if he planned on doing something like this, he should be doing it in private and not where there were a lot of chances that someone from the media could see them or even a total stranger could get it on the internet. She huffed loudly in annoyance and stormed angrily to stop him from his whole act. “I finally found you,” Lucas said when she approached, causing Ann's confusion to only grow. She glanced back at the girl and eyed her suspiciously, she was not aware her husband was in search of someone. The girl gave a weird look and looked from Ann then back to Lucas with her brows scrunched in confusion, “Uhh, how may I help you sir?” Lucas flashed an understanding smile and took a step closer making the girl stagger back in shock, “I know this may seem like a shock but I've been searching all over for you.” Ann blinked and rolled her eyes at the cliche words, she looked back at the girl and to her surprise she didn't appear to have swooned to Lucas words but her eyes narrowed down in confusion as she looked around for any possible escape. Ann let out an exasperated sigh, she couldn't believe she would be getting involved with this. She grabbed Lucas' hand and yanked him back so that he would release the other girl. “I'm sorry for the inconvenience, my husband could be a little intense sometimes but I'm certain he didn't mean to scare you,” Ann said through gritted teeth forcing a smile onto her face. The girl looked from Lucas to Ann, looking even more confused with the pair as her eyebrow shot up in confusion and bewilderment but Ann felt they were safe and this girl had no idea who was standing before her. She was just as clueless as Ann was. “Let me go and mind your business,” Lucas sneered and pulled his arm out of her grip, glaring harshly at Ann. Ann scoffed and narrowed her eyes into slits, “If you know what's best for you then you are going to gather your wits and come back with me. Do you know what scandal this can cause?” “Scandal?” The girl finally spoke out, as her eyes narrowed too to take in the pair before her. Ann's jaw clenched, a certain fear spewing from the bottom of her belly. If this girl, whoever she is, could figure out who she and Lucas were and decided to cause trouble then it was going to cause her a lot of stress. And that was exactly what she needed to avoid anything that would stop the smooth sailing of her new future. “Ignore that I said that,” Ann said in an overly cheery voice, grabbing hold of Lucas once more and tugging her firmly by her side, making sure her fingers dug into his skin through the material of his cloth. “My husband had a bit too much to drink this morning and it has messed up his judgment but I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.” “Inconvenience?” Lucas sneered with an edge in his voice and turned back to face the girl, “This is no inconvenience, I've been looking everywhere for you and I've finally found you. The scar in your back_,” The rest Lucas had to say went through the other ear, as her entire body tightened from shock. Her mind lingers in the scar that was currently designed on her back and her chest felt tight. Lucas could not know about the scar and neither was he ever going to find out. Her hands tightened around Lucas but was pulled to a stop as someone grabbed her hand and pulled it off. She blinked back to focus and her eyes grew wide as she soon realized that both Lucas and the girl's attention were on her, watching her closely like she was about to explode. “What is wrong with you? Do you plan on destroying my arm?” Lucas said angrily, his attention suddenly focused on her once more. “Let's just go,” she mumbled and tugged at his arm but realized that she was no longer holding onto him. “Let's go.” Lucas scowled and peeped back at the girl behind them, “Go without me, I will find my way home.” Ann's jaw clenched, “If you don't follow me now I'll create a scene.”The venue was decorated elegantly with dark, glowing colors that complemented the flashy dresses worn by the guests. Ann Sinclair sat still where her mother had placed her, twirling a glass of wine between her fingers while her eyes stayed fixed on the man, Lucas Montgomery standing at the other end of the hall. She huffed as Lucas conversed with the women that surrounded him while he paid no attention to the woman he just married. In frustration, she drowned the wine in her cup as she took her time to study her new husband; Lucas Montgomery. He stood out perfectly amongst the guests, dressed impeccably in a black fitted three-piece suit that clung to his muscular build. His short black hair slicked back, and his black piercing eyes were bright with mischief as he interacted with the people around him. Ann wasn't angry, she just expected he would pay her some extra attention, especially on their wedding day.“Ann, what are you doing here?” The sound of her mother's voice snapped her
“Are you alright?” Ann stared at the hazy figure standing before her, trying to make sense of what was happening. “Who are you?”“Thank you for saving me, I'll find you. I promise,” the voice told her softly and everything went blank.Ann's eyes snapped open as she jolted out of her sleep, a sharp pain coming from her back going straight to her brain. She groaned, turning over so she was now resting on her stomach, burrowing further into her bed. Her back ached. It must be acting up because of the strange dream. It had been a while since she had those dreams and luckily for her Lucas wasn't around to witness it, she thought staring at the space beside her.“I can't believe I'm married,” she mumbled to herself as she continued to stare hard at the untouched side of her matrimonial bed. Suddenly losing her sleep, Ann pushed up the bed and ran her hand over her husband's side of the bed and wasn't surprised to find it cold. It seemed she had been wrong about him after all_ before she c
Ann still couldn't understand why she was angry. She kept telling herself so many times that she didn't care about Lucas or the fact that he didn't try to contact her during the past three weeks of his disappearance after the day of their wedding. She didn't give a damn about Lucas and so she should be bothered that he didn't bother to call or act like he gave a damn about her either. She looked down at her free ring finger and scoffed, this was not how she expected her new life to be going. Yes, she was having the time of her life getting her dreams accomplished. It has always been her biggest dream to be a model but her parents were always against it claiming she didn't need to work and should Instead be focused on becoming the perfect doting wife_ an involuntary shudder went down her spine even at the thought of her parents' plan for her. When her parents broke the news of their marriage plan for her, Ann thought it was the end of her dream of becoming a model. A part of her expec
“I want your best room,” Ann told the receptionist. She was staggering a lot and her appearance was now a mess. The fact that she kept giggling every five seconds was enough to conclude that Ann Sinclair Montgomery was drunk and alone in an empty hotel lobby. The receptionist took in Ann's appearance, “Are you certain you don't want help getting to your room?”Ann shook her head and released a loud belch, “No, I'm fine. On my own. I don't need any man. You know why?” She waited for the receptionist to shake her head before she spoke up again, “Because I'm an independent woman. I do my shit all on my own.”The receptionist shook her head, looking around briskly and then back at Ann. “I would appreciate it if you keep your voice down.”Ann gasped, grasping the table for support as she stumbled forward. “Is your boyfriend here? Does he get jealous easily? Is that why?” She whispered, regarding the receptionist with curiosity. The receptionist let out an exasperated sigh, “I’m sure you a
Lucas could tell from the way Ann was tensed that she was just as unprepared for this family meeting as he was. Forcing a smile onto his face, he moved to his wife, reaching for her hand and pulling her close. “All good things I hope?” He joked, flashing his best smile to Ann's parents.Mrs. Sinclair's gaze softened. “You have nothing to be worried about, son.”Ann made an act of clearing her throat. He tightened his hold on her hand in warning. Now that he was seeing her up close, he could see the resemblance between her and his mystery lady from yesterday night. He couldn't believe he made such a stupid mistake.“Ann just arrived but the food is set, you just have to say the word,” Mrs. Sinclair announced.Lucas smiled, she was the easier parent to handle, unlike Mr. Sinclair who was so hard to deal with. “Great, Mrs. Sinclair. I can't wait.”Lucas quickly reached for his pocket and pulled out the diamond bracelet that was inside. He had picked it up from the hotel room his mystery
