An empty shell

He knocks on the door and steps away from the doorstep. No answer came. He knocks again several times but Lucy didn’t open the door.

“Why is she acting this way towards me?”.

“Should I call her?” when he was about to take out his phone, he noticed that the door was half-open.

He opened it and walked inside.

Going inside he noticed the light from the window coming inside the room, making the room dimly lit. All the lights were off making it hard for him to see.

“Lucy, are you inside?” he called, his voice almost breaking resonating in the air.

“You are home,” a voice replied.

He searched for the source of the voice to see that Lucy was sitting beside the sofa with her bag scattered down onto the floor. She was staring onto the tiled floor, her gaze unmovable.

“Welcome home,” she said.
