At the palace;
A man rode on a horse, towards the gates of the palace. He wore a green uniorm and a green cap. He pulled the horse's reins and it neighed and immediately stopped. One of the guards asked;
"Who do you seek?"
The manreplied; "I am here to deliver a letter meant for the royal family."The second guard collected the letter from the man. "It will be delivered." The second guard said. The messenger nodded and rode away.
****At the village market****
Martha and Princess Ella walked through the bustling market. Ella, who was dressed in simple clothings, had a big gleam in her eyes. She was really excited! This was the first time she was walking in a market. She rarely goes out especially ever since the war started. Her mother preferred she stayed in the place where she can be protected at all times.
"Martha where are we going next?" She asked.
"Let's go get some vegetables." They got to a vegetable stand, where a woman with blonde hair stood. She had an apron tied around her waist and she had a small frown on her face.
"How much are these?" Martha asked. The woman immediately replied,
"It just costs ten shillings." The woman said.
"isn't that too much?" Martha asked. Ella suddenly getting tired of the conversation , started to look at her surroundings. She saw how the villagers moved from place to place and how they conversed with one another. She looked to her left. There, she saw a magician performing tricks. She secretly left Martha's side and went closer to get a better look.
People had already gathered around the magician. She pulled her shawl closer to her face. She was very intrigued by the magician's performance. Her eyes gleamed with interest and she squeezed herself through the crowd and got to the front. Meanwhile, Martha had finished buying the vegetables when she realised that Princess Ella wasn't next to her.
"Ella?" She called out but she couldn't see her. Martha went forward but still couldn't find her.
"Goodness! Where is she?" She hasn't been to the village before so where could she have gone? Martha began to get very worried. She continued looking for Princess Ella.
Princesss Ella who was still engrossed in the magician's tricks had totally forgotten about Martha. When the magician finished, everyone gave him a round of applause. Ella then remembered that she had to go meet Martha. She went back to the vegetable stand that they were at before but she couldn't see Martha.
"Excuse me, but do you perhaps know where a certain woman is, we both came here to buy vegetables a few minutes ago. She's an elderly lady of average height, has grey hair and she wore a blue gown with a white scarf." Ella said while thoroughly describing Martha.
"Well if I'm correct, she just left a couple of minutes ago." The vegetable vendor replied.
"Ok, thank you." She walked away while wondering what she should do. She realized that she shouldn't have left Martha's
She walked for while but later stopped. She didn't know where she was going nor did she know how to get back to the palace. She thought of asking someone for directions but she didn't want to risk exposing herself. She stared at absolutely nothing with furrowed eyebrows.

Aurora was heading to her mother's shop. Her cheeks had turned red because of the harsh sun. She carried three bags in her hands. She walked with a medium pace and her yellow dress gathered some dust as it swept the ground."Good morning Miss Harson." She heard a man greet. Turning, she saw Mr Reynaldo Hart. He was a man who lived in the town. She rarely sees him here in the village unless he was here for work. He was just a few inches taller than her. He had dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. His looks were refined and right now he had a charming smile on his face.
Giving him a smile she said, "Good morning Mr Hart, How are you doing?"
"I'm alright, it's wonderful to see you after all this time." He said, the smile never falling from his lips.
"Yes. Are you here for work?"
"Yes, I am. How are your parents?"
"They are perfect." Aurora replied but deep down, her heart tightened when she remembered what are parents were going through right now.
"That's good to hear, I'll see you later." He said as he stared at the beautiful girl in front of him.
"Of course." Aurora said and with a bow, she left. As she walked further, she saw a girl no less than twelve years, having a stressed expression on her face. She looked as if she was looking for someone. I got closer to her and decided to find out what was wrong with her.
"Are you alright?" I asked the girl. She looked up at me. "I'm looking for someone. I left her side for a few minutes but when I returned, I couldn't find her." She said timidly. If her mother should find out she left Martha's side just to see a magic trick, she would be greatly scolded and probably even punished. The thought of that frightened her to her bones.
"Okay, where were you two before?"
"At a vegetable stand. I've been walking for a while now but I still can't find her."
Aurora thought for awhile. "Well let's see, maybe we can search for awhile and if we don't find her we'll see what we will do next." I said to her.
She nodded. Ella felt a little bit relived that she wasn't alone now.
"Thanks for helping me."
I gave her a bright smile. "It's no problem. What's your name?"
"Ella."
"Ella, well my name is Aurora."
She gave Aurora a smile and they started searching. They searched for a long time but they couldn't find her. Aurora had forgotten about the errand her mother had sent her.
"She might have gone back home." I finally concluded.
"She knows I don't know the way home. Infact I have never been here before, so she couldn't have left me to head to the pal... I mean home.
Aurora sighed a little. "We have already looked all around the market. You really can't remember the way home?"
"No... Martha!! Ella screamed. She ran over to where Martha was.
"Ella, where were you? I was worried, why did you leave?" Asked Martha. She felt relief rush over her.
"I'm sorry Martha, it was very foolish of me." Aurora went closer to them. "Martha, this is Aurora, she helped me to search for you."
"Thank you Aurora, I really appreciate it." Martha said with much gratitude.
"It was no problem." I said with a big smile. I was glad that Ella hasd found her guardian.
"We have to go." Said Martha.
"Yes, Thank you Aurora, Goodbye." Ella said.
"Goodbye." Aurora said and they left.
Three days later; The kingdom of Devon was currently mourning the death of their prince. The news was announced two days ago. The people were shocked by the news, they all wondered how it happened, until they found out that he died on the battlefield. The head of the army declared a week of mourning for the late prince. None of the royal family members came out to address the kingdom. It was quite understandable. The people lit lanterns in the sky for the deceased. It was a very sad day for them. The person who took the news very badly was princess Ella. She had locked herself in her room since she heard the news and only came out for his funeral. She found it hard to believe. Martha got to the princess's chambers and knocked. "Princess Ella, can I come in?" She asked. Princess Ella hadn't eaten since yesterday morning and even her last meal was very little. She was getting really worried. She couldn't tell Queen mother Miranda because she was in the exact same state. King Alexand
Gwen and Aurora finally got home. Gwen barged through the door and headed straight to our room, while I headed to the kitchen. When I got there, I saw mother."Hello mother. Do you need help?""Yes Aurora, where is Gwen?" Mrs Harson asked. "She's in the room. Mother, the entire village is so quiet. It's almost as if there's nobody living here.""It's because of the prince's death. It was the same during the previous king's death." She explained."It must be really tough for the royal family. I never thought that the prince was in the army. He died while protecting his kingdom." I said. "He is an honourable man. Aurora, we are going on a trip tomorrow.""Where are we going?" I asked with a confused look on my face."To your aunt's place. Do you remember her? The one who lives in Lari town.""Oh, It's been long we've visited her." I said while trying to read my mother. "Exactly that's why I want us to go visit.""Where are we visiting mother?" Gwen asked when she entered the kitchen
Evening time came and Aunt Christiana's husband had arrived. He and my father chatted about many things after dinner. Aunt Christiana sons, Sam and Scott weren't back yet. Sam was the youngest while Scott was two years older than he was and Scott was a year younger than Gwen. It's been long I've seen them and I wondered where they were. The door opened and two men came in. The younger one had blonde long hair and striking blue eyes. He was quite good looking and had a well built body. The other which was the oldest had brown hair and a charming face. He also had a nice body frame like his brother. "Mom, we're home." Scott said. "There you two are. You got me very worried." Aunt Christiana said in relief when she saw her sons. "We're sorry mom, you know how our job is like." Sam said with a smile. "And who are you two." Mr Harson said with a look of suprise. He couldn't believe he was staring at his nephews. They were even taller than he was now."Uncle Chris, You're here! It's bee
The next day; It's been two days that we arrived at aunt Christiana's house. She's been treating us well and we really enjoy spending time with her and our cousins. Today, my parents went to visit another aunt of ours who lived not to far from aunt Christina's. Aurora and Gwen decided to stay back and help out. Sam and Scott didn't go to work today. I didn't know what work they did and I didn't bother asking them."Gwen, Aurora. I need you two to head to the market quickly for me. I have to head to the shop, Scott and Sam will accompany you.""They don't need to aunt, We can go on our own." Said Gwen. "You two are new here, They won't mind. The list is on the table. Thanks ladies." She said hurriedly and left. I took the list and looked at what was written on it. "Where are the two special ladies that we're accompanying this fine afternoon " Scott said while barging in. He came in with Sam. They always did things together and even go to the same work place. They acted like an anno
The next day; It was late in the afternoon the next day and Mr and Mrs Harson hadn't returned. Gwen was pacing around the room while Aurora just sat down without saying anything."I wonder when aunt Christina will return, I hope she returns with mom and dad." Gwen said. "She should arrive soon." Aurora said simply. "Do you think something happened?""I don't know Gwen." Aurora said exasperatedly. Yesterday, she had a very bad feeling that something must have happened and now it seems so. The door opened and Aurora shook out of her thoughts. Gwen ran outside of the room and so did Aurora. "Aunt! Where are they?" Gwen asked. "Your aunt said they had left since yesterday afternoon and they should have returned yesterday. So right now, your parents are missing." She said with a sigh. "But they can't be missing! Do you think someone abducted them, or there was clash somewhere and they got caught up in it?" Aurora asked hurriedly. Her parents were missing! She would have never imagi
Gwen and Aurora arrived in the evening with no news about their parents. They found themselves to be lost. Gwen kept on ranting about what might have happened, while Aurora just kept to herself. She was busy thinking about every possibility. What could have happened and why. "Do you think it has something to do with the debt." I asked. "Possibly, but what could have happened. Could they have hurt them?""I don't know Gwen." Getting to the entrance, we saw some bags in front of the door. "Who do these belong too?" Gwen asked. We went in and saw Aunt Christiana with two bags and she dropped it on the ground. "Glad you're back. These are your bags, I need you two to leave my house." She said. "But, why? What did we do?" I asked in shock. "You girls are a threat to me. Your parents are owing people money right? They've run away, that's why we can't find them.""How did you know?" I asked. "Those people came to confront me and they told me all about it. I can't believe your parents
Aurora and Gwen finally got to the stop where they were hoping to get a carriage. It was already dark, so they prayed they would find one. "We've been here for about five minutes now, I don't think we'll get one." Gwen said. "If we don't then there's no way for us to get back home, unless we decide to walk." Said Aurora. After a good five minutes, Aurora finally concluded that they would have to walk. "Looks like we're walking." She said, and so, they started the long and tiring journey. Gwen kept complaining about what their aunties did to them. She was upset and so was Aurora. Aurora, at that moment believed that she shouldn't regard them to be her relatives. Though aunt Lisette gave them money, but that didn't change the fact that they both threw them out. Luckily, they heard a carriage coming behind them. It was a local transportation carriage. "What are you ladies doing out here alone?" The man who rode the carriage asked. "Our carriage broke down a few miles away and the
The next day; Aurora and her sister decided to search the village for their parents. They thoght they could find some clue that could help them. They first went to their parents shop, but as expected, no one was there. Then they searched other possible places, but they didn't find anything. "What should we do now?" Gwen asked."I don't know, we could just head back." They were approaching a sloppy path. On that same path, there was a woman who sold some coloured pieces of materials. The woman on seeing the two ladies thought she could persuade them to by an item. "Girls, would you perhaps be interested in buying some materials. They are very beautiful and I believe they will suite your taste." She said with a smile while batting her lashes. "Sorry, but we're not interested." Gwen told the woman. The smile on the woman's lips faded. But she kept on talking. "Are you sure, why don't you just take a look."I went over to the woman and took a look at the materials. It was obvious she
"Oh princess, this is horrible! I fear this will be the end of us.“ Said Vicky. Isabelle groaned and threw the covers off her body.“Exactly! Grandma and Grandpa are so mad. If they could, they would kick father out of here."“But that's not possible. Another war is upon us.““Vicky! Don't be so pessimistic. We will get out of this situation, even though I don't know how.““You just can't see the seriousness of this matter. The last war between these two sides was horrible. So many casualties occured on both sides. It was a war to be remembered.““I know, my brothers have told me. But I believe that this king Owen won't wage a war against his own daughter. That would be madness!""He is mad. I have people who live there. The kingdom is a hell hole. He rules them with an iron fist. He even cut ties with some kingdoms who helped with some productions. He's suffering the kingdom. But somehow, they've been surviving.“ "He sounds like he's mentally unstable. Maybe Gabriel was right.l, we
Isabelle glanced from her brothers to her father. He had an unreadable expression. Lauren hadn't said a word, she just stayed rooted on her seat, face still in her hands.“What happened?“ Darien asked. It was at that moment that the adults acknowledged their presence. Karla just let out a huff.“There's no point hiding it from them.“ Said Charles. He then loosened his tie. "Tell them what you did and the war you've plunged their home Into." He exclaimed.Isabelle wanted to say something but she decided against it. What could she even say? And she believed that her brothers could handle it. "What do we need to know?" Asked Gabriel with a curious look. Isabelle stared at him, slightly shocked. Were they going to pretend that they didn't already know?"Yes father, what do you want to tell us?" Added Darien. Darien's statement answered her question. "He won't talk, because he knows what he's done is wrong." Karla said. She was extremely angry and it bothered Isabelle. She immediately ra
After their reunion, they all headed back to the palace. Darien and Gabriel had caught three Stags. Isabelle knew that at one point her brothers got competitive. Habriel always wanted to prove that he was a better hunter than Darken, and Darien being the eldest wouldn't allow his younger brother to surpass him. But she just didn't know who got two Stags, to become the winner. When they finally arrived at the palace, Lauren alighted from her horse and immediately went inside without sparing the siblings a look. Darien then pulled his sister and brother inside.“So what happened?“ Darien asked his sister.“Nothing. We talked for a while and I went off to get the Antelope. She followed later on.““So in conclusion it didn't go as planned.“ Said Gabriel.“It was slightly alright. But I asked her about her family and she said that her parents were dead.““Lies, how long do they think they can keep this from us?“ Questioned Darien. He knew his father well, and he knew that he would do anyth
A stablesman Prepared four horses like Isabelle commanded, she rushed over to persuade her eldest brother.“Darien, why do you always have to be a sadist? Queen Lauren has already agreed, why can't you do the same?"“I would follow if you hadn't invited her. We only hunt with our family. She is not our mother Belle."“But she's father's wife and he would like for us to treat her as our mother.““She can never replace mother. Father has literally brought doom to our kingdom by marrying her."“I know, but I just want us to put aside our differences. And maybe Father will even…““What? That he'll become the caring father that he was before? That will never happen Belle. That all perished when mother died. And now that he has another wife, it's impossible." He said bitterly. Isabelle stared at her brother in shock.“It's not impossible! Father will realise that we are giving her a chance and that we respect him. He will change towards us.“ Isabelle stated with teary eyes. Ever since their
Rupert decided to go to Valeria with his men of three, to caress his curiosity. Princess Lauren was in this Kingdom and he was going to dig every sort of information about her presence here.Right now, he had just found out something very shocking. The king of Valeria and his princess had gotten married a few days ago! He almost had a heart attack when he heard. He wondered what sort of game the princess, and now Queen of Valeria, was playing. Hooking up with the King of Valeria was bad enough, but getting married to him was even worse. He wondered if his King knew already. There was little information. Apparently the wedding was done low-key and only a few people were invited. That means they didn't want it to get out, knowing that King Owen might find out about it. But how long was she planning on hiding it? It was definitely a secret that would come out in a matter of time.He reported back to King Owen, telling him about when they got married, where when, and even the dress she w
In the kingdom of Gasha;King Owen was pacing frantically in his throne room, waiting for some news from his right hand man, Falley. He needed to know if his daughter was really at Valeria, and with their miserable king. It's been two days, and he was getting restless.Fakkey assured that he would get news today. He finally decided to have a seat. All of this prancing won't help him. What will he do if it turns out to be true? Will he storm the kingdom until he gets his daughter back? Or will he send an attack to kill every one of the palace inhabitants, including his daughter.Yes, he was mad. In fact, he was furious at the thought that his daughter could be with that man, the son of his arch enemy. He will never be able to forgive her, no matter how hard he tries.“Your highness.“ He heard Falley say. He was so lost in thought that he didn't realise that Falley had arrived."Do you have news?"“Yes your highness, I just got word from one of our spies.“ He said, while holding up the
In the gallery, Gabriel, Darien and little Isabelle were all seated. Gabriel was busy painting something on a canvas, while he pretended like he wasn't paying attention to his siblings.“So grandmother told you that they weren't accepting Lauren as Queen?“ Asked Darien.“Yes, and so did grandpa. But I don't know why. For some reason, they do not like her. And I like her." Isabelle said with a pout.“And why do you like her already?" He asked.“I don't know, she seems sweet and I'm going to have a sibling!"“You already have siblings, Belle.“ Gabriel responded, as he finally decided to intervene."I mean a younger sibling. It's going to be fun to be older than someone for once.““I don't care about that. All I want to know is why they completely detest her. I understand that they might be mad about father not informing them about the marriage, but that doesn't seem to be the case here."“Of course that's not the reason. There's something more that they aren't telling us, something they
King Owen stormed into his room angrily. "Leave!“ He yelled at the maids. Instantly, they scurried out of the room. His brother must be lying. Lauren couldn't be smooth with that man. It was impossible! He knew his daughter better than that. His brother must be trying to trick him, trying to see his daughter as a traitor. But what if it was true? His daughter was in love with the enemy! If that was true, then he would never forgive her. That would be the biggest betrayal. An unforgivable one. After much contemplation, he decides to investigate. He rings a bell at his table and a maid immediately comes in."Your highness?“"Get me Falley.““Right away." The maid hurried to get Falley, the king's right hand man. Falley, after a few minutes of being informed of the king's awaiting his presence, arrived at his room."You were seeking me, your highness?“ Falley is a man of great height. His slender looking body and ageless looking face might make people think he's around his thirties, bu
Across a stretch of wide land, lies a beautiful kingdom. Surrounded by huge mountains, they serve as protection for them.Gasha kingdom has been in existence for hundreds of years, way before Devon kingdom. Although Devon kingdom had more political power and allies, Gasha Kingdom still had power and were greatly feared by most.King Owen faced his men, a look of craziness lurking in his eyes. There were five men standing before him. They all had their heads bowed, a tremor running through them.”It has been two weeks, two whole weeks and none of you have new information about my daughter.” His gaze particular on the last man on the right.”Your highness, we are trying our best. TO assure you, we'll have something for you soon. Just give is a few days…."”A few days? My daughter has been missing for over two weeks. I don't know anything about her well-being. I should send you to the galleys.““Your highness..""Silence!" He raised a finger up. "One week, I give you one week for you to
