Chapter 6: The dance

The prince marched towards the princess's room very listlessly. He wanted to imagine that everything that was happening was just a nightmare.

It had been the worst day of his life, he felt that everyone was laughing in his face. He had no doubt that the betrothal idea was the princess's.

After the defeat, King Roberts offered his help on the condition that he marry his daughter to the prince.

Christopher agreed with that decision, although that was before he met her.

"Damn you Isabella! Soon it will go to your father and you will regret being born.”

He quickened his pace, very determined to put a plan into action, "Isabella, you'll regret this," he hissed.

Clara was standing by the door, that caught his attention.

"Good night Prince!". I greet the very nervous maid.

"Hi, what's up?."

"The princess locked herself in her room, she doesn't want anyone to enter."

"Let me do it!" replied the prince. Then he entered.

Isabella had her back turned, looking at the window very distracted, who didn't give it any importance...

"I told you to leave me alone Clara. I'm not going back to the party! You won't be able to convince me of that."

"And if your husband asks you?" The prince replied, leaving her puzzled.

Princess Isabella stayed in the same position for a few seconds.

"What is Christopher here for?" Isabella answered, not looking at his face.

"Today is our big night princess, I have come for you, so that we can return to the party." He answered drawing a fake smile.

(The only thing I was missing... Begging him... This is the last straw!) He thought.

"Who does Christopher think you're kidding? You're only here because your father sent you, you don't have to pretend with me." She answered, as if she was able to read her thoughts.

"I don't know what you're talking about Isabella!… If you want, get ready and I'll wait for you outside."

"Okay!…Wait outside." She replied.

The prince left the room cursing silently... he stayed outside looking away, trying to contain the hatred and anger he felt for that woman.

"Come on!" Said the princess and advanced her step.

The prince saw her in that huge dress of hers and covered her face in disapproval.

...............

"I know that together we will create a great empire, I have no doubt about it." King Joseph said.

"I agree with you, now that we have formalized our alliance, I want us to conquer Roseghan together."

"Roseghan?… Our neighboring kingdom?."

"Yes, her land is rich in minerals, as well as suitable for cultivation. The king is a child, he is still under her mother's skirt. It will be easy to conquer her.

"I understood that his army was the bloodiest of the eight kingdoms. King William is young, but he is a madman."

"But!...he doesn't have the experiences we have, it's going to be easy. What do you say?"

"I share his view Roberts, but I don't think he's as straightforward as he makes him out to be. Still, I'd very much like to participate."

"Okay, tomorrow we'll talk about this topic in more detail."

"I think it's perfect! This deserves a toast."

............

The princess rejoined the party with the prince, that caught the attention of everyone present.

The prince was distracted when he saw some beautiful maidens arrive, that was like a blow to his chest.

He had had a relationship with one of them, he wanted to get closer to her to get her out of it, but he couldn't do it, many eyes were on him.

He saw his wife with annoyance and he had no choice but to resign himself, at least for now.

"Are you hungry Isabella?" He asked the prince ordering the huge turkey to be brought to his table.

The princess watched him longingly, she had a good appetite, but at that moment she felt humiliated. The prince asked that all the food that was on the guest table be served to him.

Everyone was looking at her carefully, the princess could not contain the desire to cry.

"Now! Stop! You don't have to do that!" She told the prince with a lump in her throat.

"Do what? I'm just spoiling someone like you."

"I didn't ask you for anything!… I'm not hungry." The princess answered very annoyed, she stood up to march towards the garden.

The prince laughed gracefully seeing her so upset.

  isabella

He's a fucking jerk!, I can't believe he made fun of me. I don't understand why she has affected me so much.

My belly won't stop roaring from how hungry I am, I can't allow myself to feel like this, after all, it's my wedding celebration.

And... since I'm not a spiteful woman, I plucked up my courage and went back to the table to enjoy the delicacies.

Christopher was next to me with a glass of wine, he is so skinny that I even feel sorry for him. I made him a sandwich and handed it to him.
