“That went a lot better than I thought it would,” Tanya says.

“What part?” I demand as we head towards my room.

“Everything. Considering what I remember of Damien, he was actually kind.”

“Your memories are failing you.”

Damien was ruthless.

He had drawn out every single detail from me. Starting from who brought up the plan, how she appeared dead, where the vial was gotten, whose ashes were used, and on and on it went. He just kept drilling us and all the while, Natalie watched with her eyes fixed on me.

Why was she staring at me like that?

Did she know what I was going to do?

No, that would be impossible.

“I think Natalie was delightful,” Tanya says, bringing me out of my stupor.

“What?! What do you mean by that? All she did was stare at me unflinching like she was challenging me.”

“Of course she was,” she remarks with a scoff. “You weren't very subtle with your shock and displeasure at finding out how close she and Damien have gotten.
