Timed Bomb

The moment she heard the gunshot, Lola felt her head being pushed to the side, avoiding the bullet. Her vision was limited to Caesar's black clothes as her lower leg bumped against the edge of the car, the pain not having time to spread before she heard a resentful voice from inside the vehicle, speaking in the Asti language which Lola could familiarize, "Die, executioner!"

The bullet penetrated Caesar's clothes near his shoulder and slammed heavily into the glass behind him, immediately causing a sharp and piercing scream.

Lola caught a whiff of a familiar scent, but Caesar remained silent, covering her eyes with his hand to prevent her from looking around.

His palm was broad, warm, and comforting, with his little finger pressing against Lola's lips. Her heart raced as three gunshots rang out. Even with the silencer, it felt like her eardrums were about to burst, and the faint scent of blood lingered in the air.

Caesar never put Lola down, carrying her around to the driver's seat—
