"So, you're telling me that these are some sort of werewolf genes which are passed on from one generation to the other?"

Ruhee nodded slowly, "There are exceptions, of course."

"What do you mean?"

I was finally getting to know something about the new world.

"Sometimes the child is not a werewolf, even if both the parents are," she explained with a sad tone to her voice.

Ruhee seemed like the person who did not belong in the world of werewolves. The beanie man, Damien, and the few others I had seen were the exact opposite of the gentle girl in front of me.

But looks could be deceiving, said the small voice inside my head.

"A person can't turn by the bite from a werewolf on the night of full moon?"

She giggled softly and shook her head, the hair in the ponytail moved with the motion of her head.

How well hidden was their world and more importantly what other creatures were lurking in the dark with the human mas

There was a deafening silence in the room as I tried my best to process the new information.I could feel Ruhee's eyes boring into my head, but I did not say a word.Damien was a freaking prince. And he did not even mention it. Forget it, he did not mention a lot of things and it was time for him to start speaking. She cleared her throat to get my attention. I finally looked away from the blue wall."I am fine, I just need to have a word with Damien."Her eyes widened, "You can not leave the room until the man is gone."I smiled at her, "Don't worry, I know that."A wave of relief passed from her face as she eased slightly, "Do you want me to get you something to eat?"I shook my head in return, "Can you please tell me when he is gone?""Of course, I will go and check," she ran out of the room. How did I end up here?About 10 minutes passed with no sign of Ruhee or Damien. • The dark side of the moon   If something happened

There was no reason for me to feel the cold sharp needles whenever I saw Amber with Damien. But I couldn't ignore them, no matter how much I tried.Amber became the life of the house, nothing was silent whenever she was around, The silence of the breakfast was filled with her stories about what she did or something about Damien.Damien barely said anything but he would avoid looking at me whenever she was around and I could understand the reason. Amber was the most perfect girl I had seen in my life, whether it was her flawless tanned skin, her expensive clothes hugging her curves to enhance the beauty, her curly hair which seemed to be styled by her personal hairstylist."Silver, please don't put your elbows on the table," Silver acted like he did not hear the words and continued eating.I was done eating breakfast and needed some fresh air.The garden surrounded the three-story mansion, the small trees were given different shapes all

  • The dark side of the moon   Freedom

Over the course of time, I learned a few things about werewolves. They lived in packs and the pack had a leader called alpha, the second in command was called the beta, and the third gamma. There was not much information about the royals in any of the books. They did not interfere with the working of the packs but if two packs were having serious problems then the royals would take their decision and it would be the last decision.I needed to ask Ruhee for more books. She knew things but was reluctant about telling me any information that Damien might not like. Books were the loophole in this case.I stretched my arms and closed the book. The birds were chirping a melody together outside which put a smile on my lips instantly.Feeling bored, I decided to spend some time out in the garden. Ruhee was nowhere to be found and I was sure Amber had something to do with it. Amber might have asked her to do something and knowing Ruhee she could

"Don't ever try something like that again," his voice was void of any emotion as he stood near the door with his back facing me.I stood on the bed silently when something clicked inside my head."You knew!" I whispered but he heard it perfectly even from the distance.I was no longer sitting on the bed, "What kind of messed up game are you playing? You thought it would be fun to mock me in this way? I have said this before but let me repeat it again, I will run away from you one day and that's a promise, Damien."Everything happened too fast after I completed the sentence, one minute I was staring at the back of Damien's head, and the next minute I was pinned against the wall. His face was so close to me that I could feel his minty breath, "You can try to run but I will always catch you, you can try to hide but I will always find you. The reminder of the memory that I was trying so hard to forget was staring at me through the mirror.I ran my fingers on the bruise softly. The image played in my head one more time which I shook off and dabbed a thick layer of concealer on my neck aggressively. The feeling of betrayal was too much for me to leave the room and had dinner while staring at the face of that smirking devil.Ruhee put the dinner on the table when I was taking a shower. She respected my decision of not talking to her and I was glad about it.Breakfast was the same story as well. But staying inside the room was driving me insane. For the first time, I was alone without Ruhee following me like a shadow. I had a feeling the security was increased after my failed attempt to escape.I was too engrossed in looking at the paintings in the hallway that I didn't notice Amber until I bumped into her.She steadied me by holding both of my arms tightl

After searching every corner of the house I was finally standing in front of the forbidden mahogany door waiting for Damien to open it.Tapping my feet impatiently on the floor, I slammed my palm on the door one more time. There was no reply.Maybe he was not inside....or maybe he knew I was knocking.Slowly I opened the door while arguing with the small voice inside my head. I knew no one was allowed in his library or bedroom. But if I wanted to confront him, I would rather do that in the library. The minute I stepped inside I was sure my mouth was somewhere on the floor. The dark rows of bookshelves soared from the floor to the ceiling. The large window next to the huge desk was spreading natural light from the sun to the front part of the room. There was dim light illuminating the bookshelves. My hand was itching to get a hold of those books. The chandelier in the middle of the room was glowing faintly as it reflected th

"Someone help, GUARDS," I screamed from the top of my lungs but the defeating silence was the only response I got as I ran towards the doorway of the left wing.I stopped running when I caught the horrific sight of guards on the floor with blood pooling around their bodies. There were no other guards in the entire hallway. I had a feeling there were no guards in the palace, if there were, they should have been here by now.I had to reach the main door and warn the guards outside but the time was not on my side, Lilith must be almost healed by now."There she is," a large man screamed running in my way with a wicked smile on his lips.I started running but it was of no use as the man shifted into a sandy wolf midway. I was thrown to the ground, there was nothing I could use to defend myself. Just when I thought my end was near a vicious growl fell into my ears and the sandy wolf turned towards the sound but it was too late for him. A large blac

  • The dark side of the moon   A tragic end of the royal family

Pairs of eyes kept looking at me as I passed the familiar hallway but none of them uttered a word. It was evident in their eyes they wanted to say something but the fear was making them stay silent.I bit the inside of my cheeks and continued walking, barely keeping my excitement to see Damien. I did not know how he would react but it was time for him to know everything....everything about the person who killed his mother. The person who was living with them and waiting to stab them. Two guards were standing at the entrance of the left-wing but other than them no one was there. Damien did not like people entering his personal space and the guards earlier were for my protection when he was not in the palace.I opened the door of the bedroom where the scent of Damien welcomed me. I smiled looking at the flames burning in the fireplace and the chair in front of it.Damien was in the room."Damien, I know this must be a surprise

I loosened my hold on the dagger when the man fell on the ground and Amber was standing behind him with a smirk. She took a large step and extended her hand in my direction. I looked at her hand skeptically and dragged my eyes towards the man on the ground. There were no signs of injury on his body but he was not moving at all."Is he..""Yep," she did not let me complete the sentence."But how..""Burrowed a little gift from your sister," she answered taking her hand away when I stood up without her help."What did you do? If anything happened to my sister..." I pointed my index finger at her.She rolled her eyes, "Relax, I have no interest in getting my nails dirty with the hunter's blood.""What are you doing here?" I kept an eye on my surroundings not trusting Amber. If she was here, it meant trouble was around as well."In case you failed to notice, I saved your life," she ended the sen

"So, you have lived there for months," Faith turned her index finger towards Ruhee, "and you, for almost your whole life." "Well, not exactly my whole life but go on." "And yet, none of you know any damn numbers to contact them?" Faith squinted her eyes as she looked between both of us. We were sitting in the airport and Faith was keeping her word to accompany us to the palace. "I didn't have a phone and I have a goldfish memory when it comes to numbers," I defended myself. "I never had anyone to call," Ruhee lifted her right shoulder casually, "I was living in the palace or the mansion, and whenever they needed me to do some work I was there." Ruhee said every word without any emotion. Faith glanced at me and I shook my head slightly, giving her a hint to not continue the conversation. I did not want Faith to ask something that might hurt Ruhee's feelings. "What are you doing?" I tried to peek into Faith's ph
