I went back to my room and laid on the bed. It wasn't too long before the door swung open, I forcefully closed my eyes to fall asleep but to no avail. "Are you that upset?" I shrugged when I heard his voice, he could tell I was awake even before I moved. "I didn't even kill her." He said. "Am sorry I scared you, but it was the only way at the moment. I kept my promise didn't I, and now it's time to keep yours, the favor you promised, I'll take it now." I turn around and he's not there, did I hear wrong just now, I could swear I heard his voice just now. I felt the bed sink in and then I turned back and he's right in front of me with his head tilted causing my heart to skip a bit. "I want to exchange it for something else?" He quickly said.

I frowned. "What is it?" I replied sharply, turning my head elsewhere.

He reached for my face and I immediately shut my eyes, waiting for whatever was

It was just about a few minutes after my break down, that it happened, Richard suddenly looked alert, I didn't have the time to guess what he looked like that before he grabbed my hand and we made a run for it, just then, I could finally understand the reason he ran away like that, it was the smell of burning, the moment we reached outside I realized a part of the building was on fire. "Wait here, I'll call someone to pick us up, this place isn't safe anymore." That was all he said to me before disappearing with his phone. Martha was no where to be found, she was probably still inside. "Martha, Martha." I yelled, but there was no reply from her, and Richard had just gone out. I thought everything was going to be okay when suddenly I heard a scream coming from the inside, I didn't need anyone to tell me who it was to know that it was Martha, but she was trapped in the room where the fire escalated. There was no other way, the chimney's were

Hotel Ego. I never imagined that I would one day be here. A five star hotel that's always at the top of any high ranking hotel. To think it was owned by my husband, well that's a bummer, Peter and I had already picked out a couple of selections for after the wedding. It's a good thing I know who runs this place now, it's best if we avoid this in case I should leave. Martha and I went out for some fresh air, and although it was late, it was the very first thing I did after arriving at the city, and it was very much needed at the moment because I had been moving from one place to another at Richard's beckoning. It was the first time I felt alive since I got married. "Good evening". A cheerful voice greeted me the moment I stepped foot out of the car. Before me stood two young adults neatly dressed in l

I knew he didn't want me anywhere near the meeting, but this went on for days. Am never awake when he returns and he leaves late in the night too. I am starting to think he doesn't want anyone to see me. I thought it was a joke but it seems to be a lot more serious than I thought. "Mira, we need to talk." One night after I had made up my mind to stay awake, he said those words to me and didn't bother to explain anymore. We had agreed to meet tomorrow and I had been preparing for that for quite a while now. I took my jacket and my boots out of the closet and put them on. Finally, I am getting a chance to receive some fresh air after two weeks. This is wonderful. I walked out of the changing room, happy but that mood was dropped in

That melody. It's a Piano, but we don't have a piano at the mansion do we? I wake up after hearing such a wonderful piece, expecting to find anyone in my room but not a single soul walking in or out. Looking around now, this place looks new, and in a far better shape than I remembered it even after the renovation, but why was it empty? Where is everybody? If no one is here then what about that sound, was it Richard playing the piano? I never knew we even had a piano. Nevermind Mirabel, let's go see first. Following the sound of the piano I hurry downstairs and find a lady sitting next to a little girl, they were playing a duet on the grand piano, that's weird, I don't remember having a grand Piano at the hallway, did they perhaps buy one when we were away, and who are they, it's obvious Richard has nothing to do here. Suddenly, they both stopped. I was

I was watching the news when I saw something that startled me, no it didn't startle me, it pissed me off, I didn't expect my mood swings to snap just because of this but I guess anyone would have been furious. I ran to his study and barged in unannounced, regardless of this his eyes were not leaving the book he held in his hand, but I noticed that his eyes twitched in annoyance. Well I guess I could cause more trouble to gain his attention. I cleared my throat several times to make him uncomfortable and made weird noises with mouth. I stamped my feet without a rhythm and also banged at any hard surface my hand came in contact with, and finally he broke. "What???" He yelled. I had succeeded in getting his attention and now my next step was to pacify his anger. If I want this request of mine I have to be as composed as possible. For the first time

"Both of them will accompany you on your trip, the one on the left is Lucy and the one on the right is Brenda." He tells me. It was midday when we had set out for our trip. When I woke up I was introduced to both of them because he had already made the decision for me. There could be no objections to this so I just held my peace. "Make sure you take care of her, if anything goes wrong or she gets hurt then pray I don't find you." He threatened them, but unlike me they were unmoved. "Don't forget, just see your father and come straight home alright." I nod to that order with a smile.Regardless of the promise I had made just a while ago, I had still prepared something for my little sister. There was no way I could hold a grudge because of something that was not her fault, I would rather give her my blessing than hate her, the same goes for Peter, I couldn't blame either of them. "Stop the car.

"I'll go first." Brenda said. She made a quick call as she stepped outside, soon the caretaker opened the door and came out. We could see her from outside the gate as she looked around with caution, finally she made eye contact with Brenda and signaled for the gate to be opened. My suspicions for the caretaker rose, just who lets a stranger drive into their house, I glanced at the woman who stood unmoved, waiting for us to come in, maybe they were acquaintance, a not sure but but whatever it may be, I do hope she’s not here to harm my family. At that moment the car drove in. I was given a shawl to wrap it around my face, hurriedly I ran inside the house. At that moment when I reached the living room, I raced with speed to my father's room while Brenda and Lucy called out repeatedly for me to slow down. They didn't make any move so they wouldn't s

  • The bride of the Egos'   Chapter 18. Secret Door.

The moment I arrived home, I hurried into my room and shut the door, there was no one at the door, and Richard was also nowhere to be found so the coast was clear. At that moment, I reached for my bag and pulled out a medium size wooden box that was almost the size of both my palms, it was decorated with blue rubies and had a symbol of a horse standing with a lion, probably butting heads, I don’t really know. I searched through my bag, turning it upside down to find the key that was buried inside. My hand felt the heavy weight of the key, I picked it up and quickly slotted it in, it was a perfect fit. I turned and twisted the key, and soon it opened. There it was, a small paper that was safely kept inside the box, I picked it up and unfolded the paper, only to find a painting of a man, and if I am not mistaken, then this man is Daniel. Our ancest

Laughter and music plays through the elegant hall. Everyone danced to the rhythm of the waltz, everything seemed perfect and yet, one person remained who looked lonely even while being crowded by many. An average height, fair skinned red haired woman laughed with everyone with a mask of happiness but beneath that mask was a lonely woman. That woman was me.Today marked my twenty-first birthday and my father who was a man of luxury decided to hold what is supposed to be the most lavish birthday, however I could not feel a single ounce of happiness, rather I felt empty. As much as I wanted to rip him apart, I could not move and I was still in the hands of this lunatic of a woman. "Well then let's get to work." He said while staggering. He walked up to a rock that was shaped oddly like a chair and sat down. "Since her majesty now has the heir to the throne out of the way, I believe that makes her the only pure blooded Ego and rightful queen seeing that Erika over here has given up the position already. So I have played my role." He said without any sense of shame or guilt."What about her?" Richard says, I was on the brink of tears seeing that he was not moved after seeing both his children dead. I thought we could start over. I made a mistake."You monster. How could you, you killed innocent c

Gah!I woke up dripping wet from cold sweat. "She's awake." A voice says. It was my father. I looked around and found fewer people than before, the twins, Nessa and dad, but where's Malicay and Daniel, I wondered."Martha, what happened to Martha." I asked but everyone looked away, they had a troubled look and most importantly they were sad.Vanessa moved forward and signalled father to let her speak. "By the time Malicay had arrived, she was already dead. The dagger that pierced through her heart was a silver dagger, I'm sorry." Again, she died again. I can't imagine how much I owe her, for taking care of Ethan, for the shelter she gave me in my previous life, and for being by my side. I owed

A master of chesh and a good strategist however no one could ever figure out what his true aim and purpose ever was, he was a being who moved according to his own will, no one could understand and control him. That being I speak of had planned to ruin my family from the very beginning. He wasn't just after one child but two, on one hand it was said that Thomas would bring my mother in law the throne an on the other Ethan was said to be a sacrifice for Thomas to ascend the throne but what those two had in common was that their birthday were foretold, one to Richard and the other to the queen. In short there was no curse, just a stage set up for an event. It was a marking. This strategy was simply killing two birds wit

I was only a couple of days away from my fortieth birthday, and since the queen hadn't shown up cause she was probably waiting for my passing, everyone lowered their guards. "Yes, we'll be there immediately." I heard Richard say as he walked into my room hurriedly with a troubled expression."What's going on?" I asked, there was no way I would not be troubled seeing him pancing to and fro the room. "Where are you going ?"He rushed up to my bed and kissed me on the cheek. "Emir has found a way around Delets curse this time, Ethan and I would go there and return immediately, but don't worry I've called for more security, even from the wolves so they would be more people to protect you when I'm gone." Although we weren't able to find out a few more things relating to the fire incident, we were more cautious in making sure the children were safe. However at the same time, my curse was slowly becoming a nightmare to my life as it slowly spread. I had only a few weeks to live as I was turning forty soon, it was most likely that I would die on my birthday.Richard has been doing a lot of thinking about it, turning me into a vampire would still not help me, as Emir herself rendered it useless. "You don't look like you've been ageing like the rest of us." Vanessa said as she helped me out of bed.I stood next to a mirror and stared at myself, she was right, I looked like nothing had changed because I kept taking Richard's blood as supplement, to think I was going to die looking this young. I didn't expect to meet his sister as I presumed both were dead but I was wrong, Malicay wasn't going from one place to another for nothing, he was gathering clues, it was due to this that he discovered his sister's survival, Emir was also brought here, from what he said, they each had a story to tell.Erika broke it down to us in a story she discovered while hiding from her mother.Apparently it all started when the queen, Malicays' mother, had to pass her throne to her husband because she was a woman and deemed unfit. She decided to change her fate and so she came up with a strategy. After searching for answers for many years, she met with Delets and made a deal with him.'I'll give you the power you

Out of everyone present in this room, he should be the least that knows but not only does he know what's going on, but my sister Vanessa knew as well, how did I know? It's because her cheeks turn red whenever she's caught in a lie. Cold sweat drops down my face and my body trembles each time I try to move, then a familiar voice echoes in the room. “What did you do to her this time?” It was one of the men who had arrived with Malicay last night. I couldn’t help but stare at him as I saw myself down to him, however I could not see his face properly, as my eyes felt heavy. “Answer me.” He yelled."Don't you dare yell at me, she's only suffering because of your stupid deal, or did you preharps forget, she's going to be forty this year. She has less than months to live." That was Richard's voice, I'm certain of it. But
