•LEVI BANKS•
“It's wrong to make attempts in seducing her to lie with you, she's fidgeting.” My mind reiterated for the millionth time and once again, I ignored it, trying hard to fight back the haunting refrain. “She's the only one that can do this as the woman everyone sees as my wife. Of course, I won't lay with her on a normal day” I replied the voice inwardly, while still trailing kisses down her exposed neck. She was pretty, I knew it and wouldn't deny it but I wasn't an heterosexual man who's interested in women. At first, it seemed like I was forcing myself and hormones but now, it was beginning to seem like I was enjoying it. The fear, the nervousness and the way she hides the fact that she doesn't want this is a sight all men would kill to see. However, I had a sole intention. ‘I need a child’ One thing was certain, she'll have no option if she realizes she's pregnant. “Our deal didn't include surrogacy, I can't talk to her about getting a child. I have to find a way to do it..” I thought again, feeling quite satisfied with the moaning sounds she was making.. I was gradually getting on the winning side.. “Do things smartly without arousing suspicions..” my late father would always say. “Le.. v..iii” she moaned again with trembling lips. “Stop.. it… I can't take it anymore” she pleaded gently and my heart instantly sank but I knew better than to allow her notice that so I remained calm. “You don't like it?” I asked, making sure my voice hadn't lost its seductive tone. “Please..” she pleaded again like she was about to cry and then I turned her to myself, fixing my gaze on her flawless face. “Every woman would want to lay with someone like me, what happened to you?” I thought, staring at her, while her own gaze remained glued to my chest. “I'm sorry.." she sniffed. “You kissed me during the wedding, why are you being hesitant now?.. it's our wedding night..” I said, trying to capture her lips but she quickly looked away, causing my lips to land on her cheeks. My lips were buried in her cheeks,my eyes closed in anger and disappointment. Wasn't I seductive enough?.. “We…” I watched her gulp hard. “The agreement was that romantic moves will only be made in the presence of people and relations. We're alone here.. and, I can't do anything with you..” she hiccuped as she spoke.. I slowly raised my hand to her chin, raising it a bit so our gaze could meet… but she refused to let our gazes lock. She kept looking somewhere else. “You're so different..” I said inwardly. “Look at me..” I said aloud and slowly she turned to me, causing our gazes to mirror each other. “You've never laid with a man?..” I found myself asking, sensing that it could be the reason for her hesitance. “Huh?..” I probed gently. “I need to use the bathroom..” she said, ignoring my question and before I could let go of her, she moved away from me, rushing to the bathroom immediately. I closed my eyes, biting my lower lip. “That was close,” I muttered. My phone rang almost immediately, interrupting my thoughts and I opened my eyes instantly, catching a glimpse of the ringing device. “Who calls on a wedding night?” I thought. After watching the phone ring for about five seconds, I proceeded towards the direction where it was, picking it up afterwards. The caller's ID was ‘Jace' and without a second thought, I swiped green. “Hey doctor.." I said, calling him just the same way I usually did. “Happy married life best” he said with a chuckle and I hummed for a while. “Stop making it seem like it wasn't a contract marriage” I rolled my eyes. Besides my personal assistant, Jace was the only one that knew about the marriage deal. He had actually suggested that I rent a bride a few weeks ago. “How was the wedding, by the way?.. I'm so sorry I couldn't leave New York and come over.I had so many patients and surgeries to do this week” he explained. “Yeah I know.." I replied casually, hearing the running sound of water from the bathroom. “The wedding was good with lots of guests as expected. Grandpa can be something else you know.” I sighed.. “Is she pretty?” “Yeah, beyond expectations” I said before I could realize. “Sweet!." he giggled. “There's a problem Jace..” I suddenly digressed, reducing my voice a bit. “What?" “The investors demanded for a family with a child and grandpa wants an heir too. I have only a year before I lose the contract completely” I made sure my voice remained inaudible for a third-party.. “Damn, I guessed as much,” he muttered. “I'm so confused right now" i muttered too. “What about the lady?" he questioned. “The contract agreement didn't include that, you know..” I sighed, rubbing my temples while still ensuring that I wasn't so audible. Besides, the tap was still running and was enough to absorb my voice from being heard by her. “Worst of it all, she seems like some innocent virgin from Bethlehem or something. My seductive moves were all in vain” I added, sighing again. He burst into laughter immediately.. “It's actually not funny” I said slowly. “So what do we do now?..” he asked after laughing for a few seconds. “You know you're a better master planner than I am” I hyped. He hummed softly. “Why don't you get a surrogate mother then?..” he suggested. “Thought of that but Grandpa needs to see my so-called wife pregnant and definitely, he'll be present at the hospital when the baby is about to be delivered. That old man is smarter than you think bro” I said. “Sophia has to get pregnant.. yet we have just three months together. Only a pregnancy can extend our connection and leave her stuck with me with no other option” I continued. “Jace, we have to act fast” I said again. He hummed for the next one minute, and all the while, I was wondering why Sophia was still in the bathroom. “There's only one way to do this” he finally spoke.. “Okay?” I said impatiently. “We have to get her pregnant medically with your sperm without making her aware,” he said. I raised a brow. His words were wise but at what cost… “How are we going to do that?.. Besides, won't she be hurt when she finds out later?” I questioned at the same time. “You can always triple her pay to compensate when she finds out that she's pregnant later on..” he replied. “Then regarding the plan, you'll have to find a way to bring her over to New York as soon as possible and then we'll either drug her till the whole process is done or inject her to forget the whole process..” he spoke again. My lips curved into a smile. “How can you be this smart?” “Uhm I have a medical degree?”★SEVERAL WEEKS LATER★•SOPHIA LANGFORD• “Congratulations Mrs Banks, you're two months pregnant.” The doctor's words echoed in my ears, causing more of my tears to fall freely as I got driven to Levi's office by his driver. Seconds had rolled into minutes..Minutes had materialized..Hours had morphed into days and weeks and now, my connection with the billionaire was two months old already.“I think I need to go to the hospital for a check up, I feel sick” I'd said to him this morning while he was leaving for work and with a peck on my lips, he instructed one of his multiple drivers to take me to the hospital.Ellen's message came in for the sixth time. I'd actually texted her to inform her after getting the news.‘Think well, maybe you both had sex when drunk.’ her message read.I sniffed, typing a response.’I'm sure Ellen, we never got intimate sexually. Yeah, we kissed and had some intense make out sessions but he never slept with me. I swear..’ I typed with hiccups.I closed
SOPHIA LANGFORD “She never told you?.. We got intimate two months ago..” Ethan grinned and Levi's eyes widened even more.. The only wish I had at that moment was for the ground to open up and take me in but unfortunately, it seemed impossible. It's hard surface still remained that way under my feet.I gave my lips a hard bite as Levi's gaze landed on me again. I was doomed, I knew it. “Coincidences are indeed crazy.." Ethan's mutter came alongside a chuckle. That damn chuckle was heavily weighty in mockery and creepiness. It defined a million things..“Two months ago..” Levi repeated in a cold whisper and I shivered as those amber eyes darkened..I doubt if he had ever been like this since we got married. His expression demanded that I look into his eyes and tell him things weren't true, but how was I supposed to do that when the truth had already morphed into a haunting refrain in my ears – ‘I slept with his rival to pay my father's debt and now I'm pregnant..Oh heavens, this
ETHAN WESTON If there's anything I'd always been looking forward to, that would be being on the winning side and having Levi at my feet's level always..This was just a big discovery to take advantage of!...I wasn't married, everyone knew that but damn, I had an unborn child!..Levi's wife was carrying my baby!!Could anything be more satisfying than that??..Absolutely no!..“You're carrying my seed.." I repeated, intentionally wanting to provoke Levi more and more.Oh heavens..I've always loved moments like this!“Levi, I can explain, listen to me..” I heard Sophia say breathlessly while Levi's expression still had shock on it.“The result isn't mine, I swear” she kept insisting and I smirked.“Apparently, it's yours. The name is printed in block letters, dear baby mama” I smiled knowingly. She immediately turned to me with glassy eyes..“I never willingly slept with you! You gave the option and I agreed to save my father from going to jail since he couldn't pay his debts!" Her
SOPHIA LANGFORD Levi's swift exit from the office followed closely on the heels of Ethan's departure. His face was totally twisted in anger and not even for once did he utter a word, leaving me too uneasy to attempt a conversation. How could I, anyways?..After all I'd just caused..I cried out my eyes for what seemed like forever in his office before heading out, feeling so scared even to go home.I was a rented bride right, but Levi had been a good husband since our wedding and now a damn pregnancy for his worst enemy is coming up..This shouldn't be happening now..“Boss ordered that all cars be taken home, how do you intend to leave?” Jessica asked as I got out of the office.I'd actually avoided bumping into her just now. It wasn't work's closing hour yet so there were still workers around.“Miss Jessica.." I tried to smile, bowing gently. Crazy right?.. but I really still do respect her since she interviewed and chose me as Levi's rented bride..I'd become used to it.“You hav
LEVI BANKS If someone had told me a situation like this would arise, I wouldn't have believed it. Of all the men in the world, how could Ethan be the one responsible for Sophia's pregnancy? My mind was reeling. It all made sense now - no wonder the in vitro fertilization Jace and I had attempted didn't work out! Her pleas and teary eyes were enough to melt my heart but the thought that she won't be able to carry my own child secretly as I'd planned without aborting the current pregnancy was annoying… Wait, that wasn't even the most annoying thing.. The fact that having a child for Ethan is a big threat to my inauguration is worse!! “You are getting rid of that pregnancy, I won't allow you to keep the bastard!” my anger made me aggressive despite how badly I wanted to help her up and apologise. “It wasn't my fault, I was only helping dad.” those words of hers wouldn't stop ringing in my ears but honestly, that d
ETHAN WESTON Just as I was heading home, Dad messaged me to come see him, and I had to reverse direction, driving out to the outskirts of the city where he lived. As usual, the neighbourhood was silent and empty, having no one loitering around unlike the street where I resided. I alighted from the car, walking in afterwards and just as I'd expected, he was right before the fireplace, glancing through a big book.. “The mighty death book.." I smirked, alerting him of my presence as I walked in. The book had existed for decades and he had always regarded it as ‘the death book’. No one, whose name gets into the book ever survives. No single person.. “What's so difficult about starting a conversation with a greeting word? Where the hell are your manners?” he took out his gun, aiming for my leg. “Seriously?" I scoffed, staring at his fingers right on the trigger. I lowered my butt to the couch
JESSICA FINN Boss's call had actually interrupted my thirty-minute break from the project I'd been working on all day. At first, I'd thought of ignoring the call and sending him a text like I usually did when resting but I just had a feeling that he was calling relating to the pregnancy matter I'd overheard that noon.. Was there anything Levi Banks keeps from his three-year secretary anyways?.. Oh yeah, he could hide what was going on from me but would assign me to some tasks that would give me hints about his decision and all.. …and if, just if I was interested in letting him tell me the truth, I could actually take advantage of a dull state of his to ask questions. I'd gained his trust to that level. “Abortion pills” I repeated for the seventh time since the call ended, walking back to my office. “You're not giving him that, are you?” my subconscious mind asked. “If she loses Ethan's baby, thei
SOPHIA LANGFORD I really didn't leave my room throughout yesterday since I went in tears and I believe Levi wasn't bothered because he never came around to say anything or plant even a knock on my door to check how I was doing. Last night was a hurtful one. I literally cried for most of the night's hours, regretting my actions of laying with Ethan over and over again. There was no one to confide in except, my best friend, Ellen, but unfortunately, she wasn't online and even when I called, her line wasn't going through… “I need to take water" I thought, getting up from the bed and taking a swift glance at my very little baby bump which was exposed since I was just wearing a crop top. I'd actually changed into it last night because I suddenly got tired of my pyjamas.. Oh, I forgot I was pregnant. Yeah.. the nasty hormones that come with pregnancy. My eyes swiftly landed on the wall clock and I sighed, rememb
LEVI BANKS Right before my very eyes, Sophia ran off to her room and I couldn't even stop her. Echoes of all I said began ringing in my ears and I folded my fists, releasing the sigh I didn't even know I was holding.“You shouldn't have said that, Levi,” I thought, still breathing heavily.Jace's call came in again and I didn't even know why and how my stiff hands swiped green. “Calmed down yet? I have something to tell you”Most of our phone conversations began without the usual ‘Hello' and that was even now a habit.“Levi?..” his voice came around again when I said nothing.“I just insulted her.. and now she hates me” I said, staring into space and seeming lost.I heard him sigh. “Don't you think this is turning into desperation?” he inquired.“What?” I questioned back as one of the maids came around to pack the shattered pieces of glass.“Your aim to get the presid
LEVI BANKS Thursdays are Jace's free days and getting to the balcony, I decided to try if I could reach him by dialing his number.I just felt like it wasn't right to take steps without informing him first solely because he was my best friend, partner in this contract marriage situation and main adviser.Luckily, he answered the call and his manly voice came on immediately.“Missing me already?” I scoffed. “Stop being dramatic, what is there to miss about you?” I smirked.“I'll just end the call” he muttered and I chuckled.“Come on man, there's a lot to discuss, be serious” “Really? About your wife?” he predicted and like we were having a physical dialogue, I nodded.“Jace, I've been forcing Sophia to have an abortion” I admitted.“What?!” “She's pregnant?" He exclaimed again.“Yes, for Ethan” I clenched my fists as I spoke.“What?! That blo
SOPHIA LANGFORD Jessica's question shocked me to the core and I couldn't help but have my eyes widened. How the hell did she know?.. Well yeah, I knew she could suspect or even get to know that I was the one who Levi ordered the pills for but knowing it's Ethan….? I never predicted!! What I kept thinking she was going to assume was that the pregnancy came as a result of an intimacy I had with Levi which we now plan on aborting because of our connection status – the contract. Wait, that was actually a dumb thought right?.. How could I assume she'll think like that when she clearly knows about Levi's pressing need for a child?.,. “Yeah, I found out somehow” she shrugged like it wasn't a big deal and I gave her a ‘Really?!!’ look with my big eyes glaring somehow… Was it me or just my emotions?.. I just felt so uncomfortable with her being too close to Levi so much that she could get to kno
SOPHIA LANGFORD I was surprised to realise that Levi didn't go to work.. I mean, I heard no sounds of his car, not heard his commanding voice from outside and that only meant one thing – he didn't go anywhere. And since I was in my room, I had no idea what he was doing. A knock on my room door woke me from the short nap I decided to take after my conversation with Ellen and my munching on the plate of pasta the maids brought. “Uhm..?” I groaned from where I laid, wondering why my sleep was being interrupted. It was just 12pm and not lunchtime so it was definitely not the maids. The knock came around again but this time, it was with a voice. “Babe..” My eyes flung open immediately and expanded a bit. That was Levi!!!,.. While I felt pleased that he finally came around to check on me, I also felt quite surprised at his term of endearment. In a situation like this?.. and
SOPHIA LANGFORD “Ma’am?!” That sharp call snapped me out of my imagination and I jolted back to reality within a second. But everything suddenly seemed completely different. There was no sense of Levi's strong cologne anywhere anymore and his lips were no longer caged around mine. His arms weren't even around my waist anymore!.. It felt like he had faded into the thin air.. just now. No.. It can't be what I'm thinking right?.. The conversation and kiss I had with Levi just now wasn't an imagination right?.. That kiss wasn't imagined huh!!!! “Are you okay ma'am?” My stunned self landed it's gaze on the butler standing right infront of me and my eyes slowly widened more.. I actually bumped into him and started my imagination from there! Damn, that looked so real! “What do we call this too? A way to save someone from being thrown to juven
