Zephyr's eyebrows furrowed as his gaze locked onto Nova. He found it hard to understand why Nova just asked that question, utter confusion ruled his mind as he kept staring at her. Eryx grew uneasy, his feet tapping constantly against the ground as he nervously watched them talk. “Yes, Nova. It is me. Zephyr,” he replied softly, his arms wide spread with a soft smile. “Why do you seem shocked? Did you lose your memory after the surgery?” Zephyr asked confusingly. Nova glared at him, irritated by everything about him, thus keeping mute to all his questions. Zephyr quickly slammed his hand against his forehead. “My bad. I totally forgot the doctor said there was a high risk of you losing your memory after the surgery,” he lamented. “I know you must be happy that I lost my memory,” Nova replied bluntly. “What? No, how will you say such a thing?” A piercing pain struck his heart. He still couldn't understand why she sounded the way she did. “Look, Zephyr. You may think that I ha
The warm shower drained through his hair, and streamed down his firm body. Eryx exhaled to the soothing feeling that coursed through his nerves as he had a warm shower. He whistled as he got out of the shower, cleaning his body up with his towel. He moved his comb gently through his curly hair, admiring his face in the mirror. He reached out to his wardrobe and grabbed a black pair of trousers, accompanied by a white shirt and a luxurious black suit. He adjusted the laces of his neatly polished black shoe, looking attractive, and completely decent. He smirked at the image of himself before the mirror. He grabbed his briefcase and walked down the stairs. “Good morning, Nova. You seem worried,” helmet Nova sitting cold on the sofa in the sitting room. She raised her eyes, and forced a soft smile as she saw Eryx. “Where are you going?” She asked curiously, noticing his formal attire. “I need to go to work. I have a lot of things to attend to. But I'll be back soon,” he replied
Eryx’ eyes widened as he stared at the figure who just called out his name. “Jane!” He exclaimed shockingly, his eyebrows raised as he glared at her from a distance. Jane hurriedly ran towards him, her arms spread wide open as she quickly embraced him, letting out a soft moan. “I have missed you,” she admitted, her arms tightly wrapped around him. Eryx quickly pushed her away from him, loosening her grip around him as he casted a rather stoic expression on her. “How dare you? Do you want to embarrass me?” Eryx flared furiously, his eyes glaring right into hers. Jane's eyebrows furrowed, her gaze locked onto Eryx’. “What do you mean, Eryx? It's me, Jane,” she said, trying to affirm that Eryx was fully aware of her identity. “Of course I know it is you. You slut! Get off me,” He roared, his gaze sternly reeking with fury. Jane trembled as fear gripped her, sending shivers through her spine. She quickly moved a few inches away from Eryx as she stared shockingly at him. Her min
A Deal in the DarkThe prison cell was cold. Sterile. Lifeless. Zephyr sat on the edge of the hard mattress with his elbows resting on his knees, hands clasped together in anger and nervousness. How could he let this happen to him? How had Eryx managed to take everything he owned and ever cared about? His father was gone. Nova was lost to him. And Eryx had won. For now. While he was still deep in thoughts, the sound of approaching footsteps could be heard through the hall. through the hall. A guard’s voice could be heard as he banged on Zephyr's door twice. “You have a visitor.” Zephyr barely looked up. The door buzzed open and the guard led him to the meeting area. That's when he saw Alex. Alex, his best friend, his brother in arms, the only person left in the world who knew who Zephyr truly was beneath all the mess Eryx had created. Alex looked very disturbed as he sat across Zephyr. “Were you able to get any evidence?” Zephyr asked, his voice forcefully calm despite
The van jerked violently as it came to a screeching halt. Zephyr braced himself against the cold metal walls of the van as the impact threw him off his seat. The officers in the van looked among themselves, wondering what was happening. Something was happening. “Hey, what's going on out there!" The guard beside Zephyr hollered loudly to the driver. “We've been intercepted!" The driver replied heatedly. At this same time, the doors of the van swung open at once. Zephyr squinted against the sudden brightness as the sun flooded into the interior of the van. Outside, multiple cars were parked in formation with their engines still rumbling. He didn't have to see who it was to know exactly what had happened. He knew who had done all this. Alex. “He did it," Zephyr muttered to himself with a satisfied smile. Right then, a man stepped out of the car and it was none other than Alex. A very confident and slightly arrogant smirk was plastered across his face as he stepped forward.
“Please ma, we're very sorry,” they pleaded with their knees to the ground and their voices in harmony. But Nova didn't seem like she was ready to change her mind. She was totally shut and paid no attention to them. They were unfortunate to get caught gossiping about Nova. Noca was seriously pissed and decided to make them pay. She had gone cold, and their pleas were resting on deaf ears. “Gossips, huh. That's what you two do in this firm. Instead of working, you make use of your time gossiping,” Nova highlighted, angrily staring at the both of them. “No, ma. We are very sorry. This won't repeat itself again, ma,” they kept pleading as they swept the floor with their dresses. Nova ignored them and went cold as she searched her bag, seriously looking for her office card, which she would use to open the door to her office. “Is she paying attention to us?” One of them whispered discreetly. “Of course I am. But your pleas mean nothing to me. You both are fired anyway. I guess this
Nova wore a soft smile as she watched Jane take a seat. She was clearly happy to see her, and so was Jane. Their smiles beaming with every excitement that came with it. “You look gorgeous anyway,” Jane complimented Nova, forcing her to blush lightly. “Thanks, darling. You've made my day. Compared to that sick psycho that just left my office,” Nova sighed, furiously glaring at the door. “Tell me about it,” Jane smiled softly, giving Nova a soft nudge on her shoulder. “You won't believe it. She came into my office this morning, neglecting what she actually came here for. Just to lecture me about my character,” Jane let out a rather sarcastic laughter. “What does she know about character development? She sucks at relationships with people,” Jane mocked while trying her best not to laugh so hard. Nova snapped her finger in affirmation. “That's right. Do you see the way she speaks to clients? She's literally the rudest staff we have in this firm,” Nova chuckled. “You're right. I no
Nova glared at Jane, a wave of shock surging through her spine. “What do you mean?” Nova asked, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Jane chuckled, laughing like she had just heard a joke. “You should have seen your face. You looked so pathetic,” Jane teased. Nova still looked confused, her expression looking very perplexed. “I don't understand.” “Easy Nova. I was just teasing. I am just trying to say that I want a man who will treat me the same way Eryx treats you. I want him sooner,” Jane said, seductively biting her lips as she winked at Nova. “You shouldn't be playing with something as sensitive as that,” Nova warned, her expression looking perplexed. “Relax, Nova. Nobody is taking your man from you. Not me anyway. Trust me,” Jane said, softly patting her on her shoulder. Nova was still disturbed about her reply, but she decided to allow the subject to die. There was no use of dwelling on it anyway. Nova and Jane finished up with their meal, and retired back to work. When
Zephyr narrowed his gaze, glaring at Nova who stood few inches away from him. “What plan are you talking about?” He asked calmly. Nova's face hardened, her gaze firmly fixated on Zephyr. “I know you've laid plans to have me back and end up destroying Eryx’ life,” she claimed. “And who told you all this?” Zephyr maintained an incredibly calm demeanour. “I just want to tell you that I won't let any of that happen. No matter how hard you try, you're just going to end up ruining everything for yourself,” she added. Zephyr's eyes darted across the restroom, and he pointed towards a sign boldly written on the wall. “MEN ONLY,” the sign read. “What do you want to see inside here?” Zephyr scoffed, walking into the toilet. Nova's face took a deep frown, her eyebrows furrowed deeply, and her heart boiled with great rage. “Pervert!” She slammed her hand against the wall and walked out angrily. Nova felt utterly insulted and disgraced before him. “He dared to speak to me in such a man
The gates opened, allowing Kevin to drive his car into the house. He alighted from his car, glaring at the mansion before him. He rolled his car key between his fingers, whistling as he slowly walked into the house. “Uncle!” Xavier rushed to Kevin as he entered the house, his smile beaming incessantly as he hugged him. Kevin bent his knee, reducing his height to meet Xavier. “You're now all grown, Xavier,” he said, a soft smile registered on his face. “Here. I got you this,” Kevin added, handing him a box of chocolate. “You shouldn't have gone through the stress if getting him something,” Zephyr said, walking down the stairs into the sitting room. “Zephyr. What a pleasure to see you,” Kevin said, giving him a warm hug. Zephyr's smile wouldn't stop beaming as he was very happy to see Kevin. “Xavier, go at your room with your nanny,” Zephyr ordered softly. He nodded and quickly followed his nanny to his room, leaving them alone in the sitting room. Kevin sat on the couch, cr
Breathing heavily and enraged, Eryx frustratingly got out of his car, violently shutting the door behind him. Nova gasped in shock, startled by Eryx’ sudden behaviour. She hasn't seen Eryx in this mood before.Meanwhile, Eryx was less concerned about Nova at the moment. The message from the Mafia Don destabilised him, and he was left in a fix, thinking of his next course of action. Eryx rubbed his head vigorously, trying so hard to think of his next action. He restlessly paced to and fro, his mind reeling with several thoughts. He kicked hard against the tire. “Arghhh!!” He yelled angrily. Nova just sat in the car, watching Eryx display an act of utter frustration. She just couldn't get over the image she saw during her memory flash. She was confused at this moment and definitely didn't know if Eryx was to be trusted. Eryx quickly braised himself, adjusting his tie and making his hair look in place. He briskly walked towards Kevin's office, walking in gently as he shut the
*****8“Alright, that's great,” Eryx heaved a deep sigh of relief as he dropped the phone call. “Any good news?” Nova inquired, glaring at Eryx’ stressed expression. Eryx crashed onto the sofa, taking a seat next to Nova. “Yes. The mayor has agreed to meet up with us. I was able to schedule another appointment with him,” Eryx replied. “If he misbehaves again, I won't be slow to put him in his place,” Nova said angrily. The thought of returning to meet Kevin was actually irritating to her. Nova felt like scheduling another meeting with him was synonymous to licking his feet. But what choice did they have anyway. He was the only way to achieve what they came to Greenfield city for. Tie knotted, shirt neatly ironed, shoes well polished, and dress neatly worn. Nova and Eryx briskly walked towards Kevin's office, set out to reach their goal for the day. “Here, have a seat,” Kevin's smile greeted them as they entered his office. Eryx quickly accepted the gesture. But Nova persiste
“What do you mean? Who are you talking about?” Nova asked angrily, surprised by Kevin's courage to have asked that question in the first place. “I mean Eryx. Do you trust him?” He persisted. “I don't understand? Why shouldn't I trust him?” Nova inquired. “There's more to Eryx that meets the eyes,” Kevin highlighted. Nova's eyes were fixated onto Kevin's. Meanwhile, Eryx stood at the corner, watching keenly to see what Nova's response was going to be. He was angry with Kevin, and his rage was already steaming as he looked at Kevin, but he decided to keep everything under control and wait for the perfect time to utter a single word. As Nova looked into Kevin's eyes, she began to sense an iota of truth in his question. Maybe he's right after all. Doubts began to rise as regards the trust that she harbours for Eryx. Nova began to suspect that there could be more to Eryx that she ever knows. “I hate you! I regret meeting you,” Zephyr's vouce echoed, causing chaos in Nova's head
“You can come in now,” the secretary announced, ushering Eryx and Nova into the mayor's office. Eryx grabbed his briefcase, following behind Nova as they both briskly walked into the mayor's office. Eryx gasped in shock, slowly dropping his briefcase as he was offered a chair to sit down. “Kevin!” He exclaimed, arms folded as he remained standing, glaring at him with his jaw dropped. Kevin suffered from a mental illness, but it was shocking to see that he was alright now. Kevin let out a soft smile, looking at Eryx as he wallowed in a pool of evident surprise. “Are you being for real?” Eryx asked, finally letting out words from his open mouth. Kevin chuckled lightly. “Stop exaggerating everything.” “No. This is quite a huge shock. Are you now an assistant to the mayor? I must confess, I am more than surprised to see you here,” Eryx arched his eyebrows and gazed at Kevin in awe. Kevin smirked, keeping a calm demeanour as he looked at Eryx. “Just have a seat, Eryx,” he replied
Nova gasped in shock. The voice rang a bell in her head. She placed the phone on her ear, trying so hard to recall the voice. The pain behind the tone drove a wave of shock through her spine, forcing her to remain in a fixed position for a long time. But unfortunately, she couldn't remember anything. Her mind reeled, desperately trying to remember where she heard the voice from. Her brain was totally blank, and there was no use of trying so hard to force the memories out. “Hello!! Hello!! Is anybody there!!” The pain laced voice kept crying out through the phone, beckoning for an audience. Eryx walked into the sitting room, drying his body with a towel while putting on only a short. He was feeling very refreshed by the cold shower, and he kept whistling while walking into the sitting room. He quickly noticed his phone on Nova's ear, and quickly rushed towards her, grabbing the phone from her immediately. The cry out from the phone continued, persistently beckoning at the top o
Cutleries clinked against plates, teeth munched through the tasty meal sitting before them. Nova moaned passionately, enjoying her delicious meal. The sweet savour filled the whole room, coursing through their nostrils as they ate from their plates. “Do you love it?” Eryx asked, clearing his throat lightly as he tried to break the silence that filled the room. A soft smile registered on Nova's face while she continued eating her food. “Of course I do. This is great,” she gushed, passionately emptying the contents of her plate.“That's…” A strong knock was heard at the door. Eryx cleared his throat, adjusting his chair properly as he turned away from the door, his gaze fixated upon Nova. Nova's instincts piqued, with her eyes glued to the door. The knock came again. “Let me go and get the door,” she said, alighting from her chair desperately. Eryx quickly grabbed her hand, forcing her to halt immediately. “Just ignore it. Let's have our time,” Eryx insisted. But the knock p
Eryx glared straight into her eyes, his patience gradually getting tested as he waited to get an answer from Jane. Jane took a deep breath, throwing herself onto the sofa next to her. “Isn't it obvious?” She asked, teasing Eryx. “What do you mean?” Eryx’ eyebrows furrowed deeply, his unwavering gaze fixated on Jane. “I came here because of you. You're the reason I am in this city anyway,” Jane revealed, biting on her finger seductively as her gaze remained fixated upon Eryx. “What do you mean? List to yourself. I am not some baby that needs a nanny,” Eryx highlighted, trying so hard to keep his anger in check. “Look, I need to know what I am standing to gain from all of this,” Jane said firmly. Eryx took a seat in the bed, his eyebrows furrowed as he tried to understand why she was speaking the way she was. “Are you drunk?” Eryx inquired. “I need to know what I will gain after Nova falls in love with you and believes everything that you're saying,” she replied softly. “You m
