Colin’s POV

The rogues had nothing to do with Adina, Colin was almost certain of it. He had spent most of the morning questioning them. The two rogues were in bad luck. After being interrupted from his morning with Adina, Colin had a lot of frustration to get rid of. After feeling satisfied that he got all the information he could from the rogues, he had killed them.

Two single rogues were at no risk to his pack. Most rogues weren’t. But sometimes rogues banded together in larger groups. Then you had a serious problem. He knew this from experience. It was a lesson he didn’t need to be taught twice.

To be on the safe side, he didn’t want the two rogues to go free. He couldn’t be a hundred percent certain that the two of them didn’t work for someone else or had banded together. Better to be safe than sorry. His priority was the safety of Adina and the pack.

“I know the luna and Sean came here for protection. What are we protecting them from? Do we have a rogue army issue?” Mateo asked C

Colin’s POVThe news that Doc had given them was indeed bad. Colin would take on hordes of rogues instead of this type of issue. Rogues he could at least do something about.Something like a sick pup just made him feel helpless. It had surprised him that Adina had asked to help the boy. But hadn’t Aries said something about her having medical knowledge? Colin had been so proud of how she had handled Mrs Morgan. A true Luna. Now she stood bent over the boy and had placed both of her hands on his little body. Colin’s eyes grew bigger as a soft yellow light started spreading from Adina’s hands. Mrs Morgan drew in a sharp breath, and he placed a hand on her shoulder. Whatever Adina was doing, he had a feeling they shouldn’t interrupt it.He watched how his mate’s hands glowed and how her face looked serene. She was always beautiful, but as he looked at her now; Adina looked like an angel. She stayed that way for almost five minutes and then the light admitting from her hand slowly disappe

Adina’s POVColin’s treatment of her neck was seriously messing with her head. If she didn’t make it stop, they would end up right back where they were this morning. Nothing wrong with that, she thought for a minute.Yes, they needed to talk about her phone conversation with Markus. With a sigh, she resigned to the fact she would most likely die a virgin and slid down Colin’s body. At first, he thought it was a seduction move, just to discover it was a way to get away from his wonderful mouth long enough to clear her head and put some distance between them.“Okay, let’s hear it. Who was it on the phone?” he said, running his fingers through his hair.“Dr Markus Müller, a friend from the joint medical centre. He was my instructor during my time there,” Adina explained, sitting up and facing him.“Do instructors often ask their students out for dinner?” Colin asked, and Adina blushed.“It’s not like that. He was very professional during my stay. Once my studies were finished, he showed

  • The beloved one   Arrogant alphas

Sean’s POVSean was sitting in the kitchen, drinking a beer, and talking to Jason. One perk of moving between packs was the opportunity Sean had to talk to the gammas, to learn about different fighting techniques and styles. That way he could continue to evolve and if they were open to it, he was more than happy to share his experience.Sean had found Jason to be very open and the two of them had fast started walking down the path toward friendship. As the two of them were sitting and waiting for the BBQ to get hot, they talked about different training techniques. Alpha Colin came walking downstairs, looking like someone had force-fed him a bushel of lemons. Sean could guess who had put the alpha in a bad mood and hid a smile.Colin walked to the fridge and grabbed a beer, and leaned against the counter as he took a swag out of the bottle.“Want to talk about it?” Jason asked, shooting Sean a look.“No,” Colin said. Jason was just about to resume their previous conversation when he wa

Adina’s POV“Did anyone tell alpha Dean he was on the shortlist?” Sean asked.“No, you know how we do it. We pick three or four candidate packs and bring them to you, and then Adina decides which one you will go to. Then we reach out to that group and make the arrangements.” Cernack explained.Adina could see Colin turn his head towards her. This was news to him. She turned towards him and nodded at the question he hadn’t asked, but that she knew he had. Yes, she had decided to come here, and she had chosen it before others. That earned her another kiss on top of her head.“Most alphas that come from an alpha line know about me and how we move around,” Adina said. “It’s not surprising that he knows about me. What is surprising is that he is trying to contact me and that he has reached out to Colin to do it.” She continued.“Cernack, I want you to call him and ask about it. We can assume Colin isn’t the only alpha he has contacted. If he asks why you are calling, tell him an alpha reac

  • The beloved one   The extraordinary is strongly over appreciated

Colin’s POVColin looked down at the perfect goddess in front of him. She was completely naked except for a pair of lacy panties. Her light blond hair was spread across the bed, and she looked like an innocent angel. If you didn’t look in her eyes, that is, her eyes were deep pools of desire and it turned him on like nothing he had ever experienced.“You are fucking perfect, baby,” he said in a husky voice. He watched as she gently bent one of her legs, rubbing her thighs together to soothe her ache. Colin could smell her arousal, and it drove him crazy. He bent down over her, placing kisses on one of her thighs, slowly moving upwards. He could hear her breathing become faster and shallower.Once he had almost reached her core, he stopped and started doing the same to her other thigh. She let out a disappointed whimper that made a smile cross his lips. She let her hands run through his hair and tried to pull his mouth up towards her centre. He let her pull his head up, but did not tou

Adina’s POV“I don’t see why I can’t come,” Colin said angrily for the tenth time.“Because if he recognises you, he will know in what pack I’m staying, or at least he will guess,” Adina said, placing a hand on his arm.“Stay in the car. It will be parked just outside the door. If anything happens, you can come running,” she continued with a smile. Colin huffed. “I’m sorry honey,” she added, placing her head on his shoulder. She knew this was difficult for him. They were going into an uncertain situation with not enough information. She understood his need to protect her, but she also knew that he understood the need for him to go unnoticed. If it had been any other alpha, Adina wouldn’t have let them come on the trip at all.But she couldn’t refuse Colin. To be honest, she needed him there to calm her nerves. The ride to the warehouse took about thirty minutes. The place looked deserted, but Adina knew that usually, it would have been full of workers. The White Rose pack owned the co

Once they both were inside, she made sure the partition between the front seat and them was up to give them some privacy. Then she told Colin everything. As she expected, he didn’t handle it calmly.“Next time I see that bastard I will kill him,” Colin fumed. “You are MINE,” he growled.“I know honey, but he didn’t know,” Adina soothed, sliding closer to him and rubbing his arm.“He should have known you weren’t his. What kind of alpha is he?”“Yes, he should have known that we had already met and nothing happened. But you know how hope can mess with your head,” Adina switched tactics and put her hand on the side of his face. Making him turn towards her and make eye contact.“I’m yours. You know that I know that, and that is all that is important”“I want everyone to know,” he huffed.“I know. I would like that as well. But you know why we can’t do that now,” she patiently said. It was chilly outside, but not as bad as she had thought.Adina and Sean started warming up with some laps and some stretching and were soon joined by others as the warriors started their training sessions. After that, Sean decided they should go for a run in their human form. When they got back to the training ground, they headed over to the sparring rings.“Ready to spar?” Jason asked Adina.“Sure thing. Jouko stood up and tried to look like he wasn’t half starving. He bowed towards the gods and the jury. “My lord, my lady,” he addressed the gods. “The things that you have been told here today have been taken out of context and twisted to make them seem like something they are not,” he continued. “I am happy to hear that. Could you put things in the right context, please?” Absalom said. “With pleasure, my lord. In the last five generations the Beloved One have been showing signs of weakness that, quite frankly, is dangerous,” Jouko said. “How’s that?” Selene asked. “They have been more restricting when it comes to interactions with humans. We have fewer ways to express our true nature. The council has put laws and restrictions in place to protect the weak humans from us. It’s a threat to my race,” Jouko told her. “The Beloved One, would you like to respond?” Absalom asked. “I would, thank you,” Adina said, standing up. She didn’t walk toward the gods or the vampire. • The beloved one   The trial

Colin’s POV It had been a month since the battle. The pack was in one place again. Colin, Adina, Sean and Clara and Julia had all gone to the dryads to thank them for watching over their pack members. Despite losing some of their pack members in the battle, the pack had stayed strong and as word got out that the Beloved One lived in the pack, they had gotten a lot of attention. The pack had taken it in stride. They were proud of their luna. Colin was proud of his pack and of his two mates. Today was the day for the trial and they would once again go to the dryads’ land. The only way to let them take part in the trial was to hold it on or near their land. The local tribe had generously offered to host the event. Each race had selected five representatives, except for humans that were peacefully unaware of the whole thing. The enemy vampires and the rogues had been allowed to choose three individuals each to represent them at the trial. The trial would be open to leaders of the race

  • The beloved one   A final stance

Adina’s POV“Hello, mother. I’m fine, a little more tired than usual. But I’m perfectly fine to eat lunch with the pack,” Sean said.“You know Adina, and this is my other mate, alpha Colin. Colin, this is my mother and Tia,” Sean introduced them.“Mrs Murphy, Tia,” Colin nodded.“Alpha Colin,” both women said with a bow.Adina didn’t like that Sean’s mother hadn’t offered Colin to call her by her first name. It was a clear sign she didn’t accept him as her son’s mate. Adina felt both her mates tense up.“Would you like something to eat? You have had a long journey,” Adina asked.Sean’s mother looked at her and it wasn’t a hostile look, but it was cold and accusing. Adina had no doubt that Sean’s mother saw her as the reason her son had almost been killed. It was enough hostility in her eyes for both Colin and Sean to stand up and move closer to Adina.“No thank you, we ate on the way,” Sean’s mother told her.Adina saw it wasn’t just her mates that was reacting to the presence of the

  • The beloved one   Telling the pack

Sean’s POV“So she brought Tia with her,” Adina sighed. It wasn’t a question.Sean growled, and he felt Colin tense up and growl as well.“That can be an issue,” Adina admitted.“Both Colin and I are more protective than usual, as you can understand,” Adina added.“I understand,” Liam nodded.“That goes for the pack as well. We have just been through a major battle, and they almost lost Sean. If they find out someone is trying to take him away, that individual will not have a peaceful time in this pack,” Colin said.“I get that, and if you allow her to visit, I will make that clear to her. I have talked to her after your visit and she knows she was in the wrong,” Liam said.“We will let them in. Sean’s mother should be able to see him,” Adina said.“Baby cake, that isn’t necessary,” Sean objected.“I have no issue turning them away,” Colin agreed.“But I do. Are you going to argue with me?” Adina asked.“No, baby,” Colin sighed.“You are too stubborn and kind-hearted for your own good

  • The beloved one   Waking up

Sean’s POVSean was slowly gaining consciousness. He felt tired; it wasn’t the kind of tired he usually got after a long day. This was tired like as if he wasn’t lying down, he would probably have ended up in a pile on the floor. He had a faint recollection of being injured; he had a clear memory of wanting to see Adina one last time. Was he alive? He pondered as he focused. He could feel someone having their hand on his arm and someone was holding his hand. Sean could feel the sparkles that ran over his skin. His brain got a little clearer, and he smelt the scent of his mates. He opened his eyes and looked to his left.Besides the bed he was lying in, Colin sat in an armchair with a sleeping Adina in his lap. Adina was holding Sean’s hand in hers, even in her sleep, and Colin had his hand on Sean’s arm.Sean met Colin’s eye and Colin smiled.‘Welcome back,’ Colin mind linked Sean and squeezed his arm.‘Thank you. Where have I been?’ Sean asked.‘Out of it. You are in big trouble, my

There was a steady trickling of silver coming out of is wound and into the basin.Clara came walking into the room with Jason. Jason went pale when he saw Sean. Clara swallowed hard but continued to walk up to the gurney. Before Colin knew it, he had emitted a low growl as a warning. His wolf was just under the surface and saw both his mates being vulnerable and he reacted out of instinct.“Sorry,” he said to Clara. She had frozen in the spot as he growled, and Jason had moved between his friend and his mate. “Go ahead, just go slow and don’t do any sudden movements,” Colin tried to smile at them. They had decided that Clara should stay in the shelter during the attack in case something went wrong, and Doc had been injured during the attack. Clara hadn’t been happy about it, but it was the prudent thing to do as they now had two doctors in the pack. She now carefully looked over Sean’s i

Adina’s POVThe enemies in front of Adina parted to let a tall woman through. She was slender and had short midnight black hair and brown eyes that was filled with hatred and loathing.“Diedre, I presume,” Adina smirked.“Adina, cousin,” the woman smiled. But Adina could tell that she wasn’t pleased that Adina had known her name.“It’s time to stop this, Diedre. You will never have my title and you most definitely won’t have my powers,” Adina said.“Why would we stop when we are winning?” Diedre asked. Adina laughed, but it was a laugh void of all amusement.“You are more delusional than I thought, cousin. Let’s stop this unnecessary killing and part ways,” Adina said.“I’m not the one with a mate that is more dead than alive,” Dierdre smirked. Both Colin and Adina growled at her.“You may not be, but you are the one with a fast-depleting army. Do you think these are the only warriors that will fight in my name? Magical creatures from around the world is standing by to send us backup.

  • The beloved one   The protector

Sean’s POVSean knew he needed to get his men over to Colin as soon as possible. If what Adina said was true and the main vampire force was heading there, Colin and his men would be in trouble. He shifted back to his human form for a moment to give orders to the surrounding warriors. He was still amazed at how many warriors Adina had rounded up. Sean had a good idea about how she had done it. They would have a conversation about that when this was over.“I need half of you to stay here, half of you need to come with me. We have a large number of vampires moving towards team A’s position. We will offer them support,” Sean told them. Sean’s brother shifted back to his human form next to Sean.“We will follow you,” he told Sean, and Sean nodded. He had been surprised when he saw his brother come sprinting through the woods. But he was grateful that he and his warriors had joined them.Sean shifted back to his wolf and then he was off. That is why she hadn’t told them about it. She felt a little guilty for that. But not so much that she wouldn’t do it.She stopped by the monitoring station and had a look. It was too early to get a sense for the battle of the numbers. But at least things looked to start off on a smaller scale. Adina was afraid that the enemies were just testing the waters.‘We are under attack, we need our allies on site now,’ Adina mind linked Cernack.‘Are you safe, my lady?’ he asked.‘I am, but my mates and my pack aren’t. I want the council, all of the council, to call in favours where we can. I want all the warriors that we wan get to be ready. If we have allies that are more than an hour's drive away that are willing to help, let me know,’ Adina said.‘Yes, my lady,’ Cernack said.Adina turned to her two friends and smiled.“I’m going
