“W..what?” She asked,
When he made no signs of saying any other thing to her, she continued.
“How can you propose such a thing? Marriage.. It's a very serious thing.” She mumbled.
It did not matter if she liked him or not. she had always dreamt of marrying someone whom she was in love with. Someone that she could spend the entire day with, her entire years on this earth with and still love the person no matter what happened.
She didn't want to marry someone just because a scandal had broke out.
“I know it is.” Sebastian affirmed.
“If you do, then why are you saying this? Is it because of your reputation? I saw that you are usually not seen with girls. Some even say you're gay.” She blushed at her last sentence.
Sebastian suddenly laughed, a deep reverberating sound that echoed throughout her body and tingled everywhere from the top of her head down to her sole of her feet.
“Gay? Why don't you tell me, darling? Did I seem gay to you last night?” He asked, his voice deep and husky.
The bodyguard looked away.
He smirked at he noticed the flush that covered her face and her neck. She wondered what he would have done if he had known what she had been thinking.
“D.. don't say things like that.” She whined.
“Why, mia bellezza? What happens to you when I say them?” He once again questioned.
He knew. With the way he was looking at her, there was no way he didn't know what was going on in her body right now. But how did he know?
His tone became solemn once more, “It’s not just about my reputation. This scandal will follow you, tarnish your name and give several backlashes. I can offer you protection and shield from the fallout.”
Amelie swallowed as she grappled with conflicting emotions- confusion, nervousness and fear. How was she supposed to make such a decision like this? She had always been bad at making life-changing decisions.
She wondered, today she had only seen the comments about herself but what of when she went out? How would she face confrontations that would surely come? Society had always been a vile place and she had just landed in the worst place of it all.
The rich degrading society.
She had read about how they backstabbed their own people. What would they do to her? The girl whom they would think was only out to get the billionaire’s wealth.
She just wanted a peaceful life. Was that really hard to get?
“You don't have to look so conflicted. I'll give you two days to think about it. Time isn't on our side and we have to be quick in order to use it effectively.” He stood up, handing his contact card to me.
“Give me a call whenever you have an answer.”
He gave me one last smile before letting himself out the door.
Amelie let herself sink into her bed after she locked the door. She never thought that a day like this would come.
She wished she hadn’t made the mistake of sleeping with him. Sebastian seemed like a good person but they were from different worlds and sooner than later, they would clash. It wasn't like she was the type to do one night stands.
Before she met Sebastian, she had been engaged to her childhood friend, Kingsley. They had only slept together twice but with Sebastian, it had been different. It didn't feel like it was only their bodies that had been moving together.
It had felt like their bodies, emotions and souls had been moving in unison.
At that moment, someone suddenly banged on the door.
“Open the damn door!” It was her father.
She hated him but she was too weak to do anything. Luckily he didn't hit them anymore, not after her teacher had reported him to the station after seeing a bruise around Amelie’s eye in school.
She held her breath as she opened the door, moving to a side as Mr James Campbell entered the house, looking ready to kill.
“You ungrateful brat!” He sneered.
“W.. what's wrong, Dad? I..I didn't do anything bad this time…” She whispered.
He cut her off, advancing on her as she tried to slither backwards, away from him.
“Nothing wrong? NOTHING WRONG?” He cuts her off. “What is this that I'm hearing about you sleeping with the Romano son? You're a whore just like your mom.” He sneered.
“We’re not whores.” She snapped, immediately regretting it.
She saw the flash in his eyes as soon as he decided it and then his hand was on her face. He hit her and she fell, hitting her head on a desk.
“Did you at least capture him?”
“No. He wan…wanted to marry me but.. I.. I refused.”
If possible, James’ face became even redder.
“Pick your phone up and call him. Tell him you'll marry him.”
“But-”
“Shut your mouth! Tell him or I’ll send Harriet and Harrison to foster homes. Different foster homes.”
That got her to move. She would never sacrifice her siblings’ happiness just for her own.
Soon he answered.
Her phone was on speak-out mode like her father had demanded.
”Sebastian.” She whispered.
“Amelie? You made your decision so early?” His voice brought some calm to her but she couldn't get rid of the fear that came from looking into her father's eyes.
“I have thought about it. I'll marry you.” I spit it out before I could stop myself.
A pause and then, “Are you okay?”
“What? I'm fine... I.. Why wouldn't I be?”
She heard a screeching sound in the background.
“Hmm. Take care of yourself, mia bellezza. I'll come to see you later.”
“Ok. Bye.” The call cut.
“I've done it. Please let go of me.” His hands were digging into her hands up to the point that she felt like she couldn't feel it anymore.
He sneered at her, “Why should I do that?”
He dragged her by the hair and she screamed as he pulled her up to her feet. She stopped struggling when she heard a voice.
“What the fuck?”
Sebastian was standing at the door’s entrance with a furious look on his face.
Sebastian strode towards Amelie and she cowered back almost instinctively. He growled, angry that she was scared of him because of whoever the idiot was.He turned to the man, rage that he has never felt before swirling around his chest, throughout his entire body.He strode to him and picked him up by his shirt and then slammed him on the wall. He didn't waste time to put his hands around his neck.“What gave you the right to think you could lay your filthy hands on my future wife?” His voice was terrifying, meant to strike fear and yet Amelie could find herself liking the way his voice sounded. It made her feel hot, the way he spoke because he was angry that someone had tried to hurt her.She felt protected.Maybe she would like the marriage arrangement after all.She rushed to them when she saw that his right hand was wrapped around her father’s neck, his face turning from red to blue.“I asked you a question, lowlife.” He taunted.“Wait, if you continue like this, you'll k..kill h
“Right now?” She asked.“If you're okay with that.”“Okay.” She whispered.“Great. I was thinking of a movie marathon. You were saying yesterday that you loved The Witcher books and you wanted to watch the series, right? We can start with that.”Soon enough they were cuddled together in Amelie’s cosy room which was dimly lit by the soft glow of the television as Amelie had closed all the windows to give the room a ‘cinema-like look.’ Empty popcorn bowls and soda bottles laid at their feet.Hours passed without them realizing it as they spend the time in each other’s company, laughing and stealing glances from time to time. When they were about to start the sixth episode, Amelie’s stomach suddenly rumbled, a low complaining sound. Seb chuckled, “Come on, let me cook for you.”“Ooh, so you're a chef.” She said playfully. He tapped her nose as he walked to the kitchen, an aroma of different spices immediately filling his nose as he stepped into the kitchen. They worked in sync, chopping
The sun cast a warm glow over the park as Sebastian, Harry, and Harriet frolicked around, their laughter echoing in the air. It was a blissful scene, one that momentarily lifted my worries. But that sense of coolness shattered when I glanced at my phone and saw the threatening message from Kingsley. My heart jogged, and a shiver ran down my spine. The words on the screen were startling, warning of impending danger. I couldn't ignore it. Fear clutched at me, squeezing tighter with every passing second. I had to get them out of the park, away from any potential harm."Sebastian," I called out, my voice tinged with urgency. "Harry, Harriet, come here, please."They hopped over, their joyful expressions fading as they noticed the worry etched across my face. "What's wrong, Amelia?" Sebastian asked, concern lacing his voice."Something's come up, and I think we should leave the park," I said, trying to maintain serenity while not alarming them. I didn't want to scare them unnecessarily, bu
The boardroom buzzed with anticipation as I settled into my seat at the head of the table. Today's meeting was crucial—an opportunity to seal a partnership between Eudora Company and one of the country's biggest marketing firms. The success of this deal was paramount, but my mind couldn't shake off the worry about Amelia and the unsettling message she had received. As the executives filed in, I forced myself to focus on the task at hand. "Good morning, everyone. Thank you for being here. Let's get started." The discussion began, with each executive presenting their insights and strategies for the partnership. I nodded attentively, making mental notes, but my thoughts kept drifting back to Amelia and our conversation earlier. I hoped she was feeling better and not letting the threat overshadow her day. One of the executives, Mr. Jenkins, began detailing the prospective benefits of the collaboration. "This partnership could enormously boost our market reach and brand visibility," he e
As I gathered my things to head over to Amelia's place, my mind buzzed with concern for her and her younger siblings. Before I could step out, my phone rang, displaying an unknown number. It rang three times, but whenever I answered, there was no response, only silence on the other end. Frowning at the strange occurrence, I tried to shake off the odd feeling lingering within me. But just as I was about to set out again, my best friend, Alex, called, insisting on meeting at the club. I thought twice for a moment, torn between my worry for Amelia and the need to check on her, and the unexpected call from Alex. "Hey, Alex," I greeted as I answered the call, trying to sound composed despite my conflicting thoughts. "Sebastian, buddy, you gotta come to the club tonight! It's going to be epic," Alex enthused, his excitement evident in his voice. I sighed, feeling torn between my responsibilities and the call of an evening out. "I'm a bit tied up right now, Alex. I was actually on my way
With each passing moment, I hoped for a sense of normalcy to return, but the events of the night had left an indelible mark, reminding me of the fragility of safety and the need for constant vigilance in a world where danger could lurk in unexpected places. **Amelia POV** I anxiously paced back and forth in the living room, my thoughts consumed by worry for Sebastian's safety. He was supposed to come over, but hours had passed, and there was no sign of him. My mind spiraled with anxiety, imagining worst-case scenarios, fearing that the tailing car might have posed a threat. When his call had come earlier, asking if I was alright, I couldn't bring myself to admit my fear. I lied, assuring him that everything was fine, not wanting to burden him with my concerns or divulge the unsettling situation with Kingsley, my ex, and the threatening messages. The silence of the night was deafening, amplifying my unease. I tried to distract myself, busying myself with mundane tasks, but the worry
Sebastian finally nodded, understanding my resolve, though the concern didn't fade from his eyes. "Alright, Amelia. But promise me you'll be careful. If you need anything, I'm just a call away."I smiled gratefully, acknowledging his support. "Thank you, Sebastian. I promise I'll stay cautious, and your concern means a lot to me."As the conversation slowly shifted to lighter topics, I felt a sense of relief at having expressed my desire for independence. Sebastian's presence and concern were a source of comfort, but I needed to find my strength and rebuild my life on my terms. The next morning, Amelia couldn't get a wink of sleep throughout the night. Due to the worries about the absence of Harrison and Harriet.A loud knock resonated through Amelia's ears, she thrived to slide out of her bed and open the door. Excitement rushed through her, as she opened the door. Harrison and Harriet hugged her tightly."My dearies, where have you been, I missed you guys a lot. I promise to never let you guys go'' Amelia cried out, still holding onto the twins.Amelia brought them into the apartment but spotted a black Audi car outside before locking the door."We are sorry, for placing you in a tight spot, a man threatened to kill you if we didn't comply with his instructions, I don't want to go back Amelia", Harrison cried out, clasping onto Amelia's arm. Sebastian strode out of the room, he got excited to see the twins."Omg, you guys are back. I heard your conversation. I hope you are not hurt?", Sebastian asked, searching for wounds on their body. He seemed relieved
He dropped by her house with the twins by his side. Amelia rushed to embrace Harriett and Harrison. She felt relieved."Thank you, Seb, I overreacted, I am sorry", she said, beaming.Sebastian smiled back, he attempted to leave, but Amelia held his hand and told him to stay back for the night. He agreed. The twins felt a twinge of guilt for putting her in distress. "Amelia, we are sorry", Harrison apologized, pouting his mouth. Amelia ruffled his hair with care. She told the twins to change their clothes and have dinner. They went to their room immediately."Mia Bellezza, I am sorry I startled you. Harriet suggested we go to an amusement park after their school closes, but I couldn't say no. I forgot to contact you.", Sebastian illustrated, his voice laced with concern."It's fine seb, Harriett and Harrison are okay and you were with them"The twins came out of their room and sat down to have their dinner. Amelia served the food and they all ate in silence. Amelia tries to lighten up
Bzzzz! Bzzzz!! Bzzzz!!!Amelia gasped into reality at the sound of her phone’s alarm by her bedside. She was startled awake by the sound of her phone’s alarm which was stationed on the stool at her bedside. She stretched her hand to her phone on the stool to stop the alarm sound. She hit the stop button to silence the phone alarm. “Argggggh,” she complained, while she placed my phone back on the stool. It seemed as if she shut her eyes and opened her eyes and it was dawn already, she took her phone on the stool and checked what the time was 5:03 pm, she wanted to go back to sleep but she had to prepare breakfast for her siblings. She walked to the bathroom to wash her teeth after she spat out her mouthwash. She rinsed her mouth and stared at the mirror; checking her face if there were no abnormalities. While she stared at her reflection, she remembered the moment she had just enjoyed with Sebestian some hours ago. Blush skittered around her face as she recollected the moments. She rin
“Hello, miss, the fare,” the taxi driver said, bringing her out of her train of thoughts.“Oooh, I’m so sorry,” she said sharply, trying to get back to reality. She gave the taxi driver a seven-dollar note, and they hopped out of the car. They walked to the box office to purchase movie tickets, each costing about twelve dollars. After they were done at the ticket sales counter, they went to the other side of the counter to get bowls of popcorn before going inside the cinema. They entered the cinema just as the movie was about to start. Harriet and Harrison quickly settled into their seats. As the movie progressed, the twins and Amelia were engrossed, savoring the movie with the popcorn. After a few minutes toward the ending of the movie, Sebastian strutted inside the cinema. He sent a message to Amelia, saying, “Where are you guys? Signal to me.” Amelia tilted her head to the back as she saw Seb’s message. As she did, she noticed Seb looking around the cinema, hoping to find them. She
Thwack, a distinctive sound reverberated as Alex propelled the golf ball with his golf club; "What a birdie," he exclaimed, watching the golf ball seamlessly roll inside the hole. "How do you keep doing this?""Just admit I outclass you in golf," Seb retorted, confidently placing the shaft of his golf club on his shoulder."It's not over yet, is it?" Alex inquired, grabbing another golf ball. Seb observed intently as Alex struck the golf ball, the shot nearly resulting in a birdie."That was close," Seb remarked. Alex received a message from his secretary, indicating his immediate presence was required."I think I'm done for today," Alex declared, leaving the golf course."Running away, right?" Seb teased."Will catch up with you later," Alex replied."Can we go now?" Amelia asked, having watched Alex and Seb's game. She hadn't initially wanted to accompany Seb to the course, finding herself bored, but seeing Seb's proximity brought her a sense of relief."Yes, we can," Seb answered.
