Xu Yi burst out and started screaming at Ye Shaotang. “Understand what? Ye Shaotang, what do you want me to understand? Do you think I want to be like this? Do you think I want this? But this is the reality. What can I do? Do you think I want to live for another person like a shadow? I don’t want to. I hope she’s the one that lived and I’m the one who died. Ye Shaotang, you don’t know anything. You don’t understand anything. How dare you lecture me on this.”

As he watched Xu Yi stormed out, Ye Shaotang’s face darkened into a horrifying shade.

At this moment, Xu Yi’s phone rang.

Ye Shaotang saw that it was Hao Shihua who called.

Initially, he wanted to hang up, but when he remembered that he was a medical professor, he answered the call. On the other end of the call, Hao Shihua said excitedly, “Lil Yi, you finally picked up.”

“It’s me, Ye Shaotang.” When he heard Hao Shihua calling Xu Yi with that intimate nickname, his face darkened. He forgot what he was about to ask him and immediately exposed his identity.

Ye Shaotang had been treating Xu Yi badly, hence Hao Shihua’s attitude toward him was also bad.

Ye Shaotang listened quietly to what Hao Shihua had to say. When he finished, Ye Shaotang replied calmly, “Give her back her freedom so she can run to you?”

Hao Shihua was surprised. After a while, he chuckled coldly and said, “Yeah. Since you don’t know how to appreciate her, then why don’t you give her to someone who knows how? Ye Shaotang, Lil Yi was the one who kept on pestering you to not divorce her. But now, she’s changed her mind. She knows she’s made a mistake and now she wants to divorce you. She won’t care if she were to leave this marriage with nothing. Why aren’t you as generous as before? Or were you never generous to begin with? Or have you realized that you’ve fallen in love with her after spending time together?”

Waves started crashing against Ye Shaotang’s heart. Unfathomable, he looked at the phone and changed the subject. “Hao Shihua, the reason I answered the call was because I have something to ask you. I did not want to hear you spew nonsense.”

Hao Shihua laughed slovenly and said, “Yo, Young Master Ye is asking for my help. How rare.”

Ye Shaotang’s face was dark when he said in a low voice, “Hao Shihua, please be serious. This is about Xu Yi.”

After hearing this, Hao Shihua’s expression changed. He did not hesitate when he replied Ye Shaotang with an equally low voice, “What did you say? It’s about Lil Yi? What is it? Tell me.”
