Chapter 209

Suzanne's steps were light as she headed to his hospital room, holding a novel she really liked.

"What should I say when I see him later?" she wondered. "Should I talk about the book or his condition? What excuse can I use to stay and keep him company?"

While contemplating, she approached the room.

The door was ajar. She was still walking at a relatively quick pace before she abruptly halted as she turned to enter the room.

She was greeted by the sight of a man and woman embracing each other.

She only had a quick glance, but it sent her into a nervous spiral. She stepped back and hid behind the wall.

She clutched the book and pressed it tightly against her chest. Her nose stung, and she couldn't stop her eyes from welling up with tears.

Suzanne lifted her head to prevent any tears from escaping, but the aching feeling in her heart made her feel like crying.

That wasn't an illusion. She clearly saw Sally embracing Nathan.

Author, I really like the story line but I don’t like the merry go round of Nathan and Suzanne making progress then Sally gets in the way. I’m really trying to stay with the story but the constant repetition is getting to me.
