-Willow-

“Just a tiny bit,” I insisted, holding up the toast with some jam on it to Carter.

He shook his head and instead poured more whisky into his coffee mug, which was no longer 90 percent coffee and 10 percent alcohol. Now it was the other way around.

“Come on, Carter, that’s not breakfast,” I pointed out and pressed the toast to his lips, but he turned his head and sipped his alcoholic coffee instead.

“It’s better than breakfast,” he stated.

“We both know that is a lie. Look at you!” I said that and gestured to him. “Have you slept?”

“No.”

“And you’re not eating either. It’s not good,” I told him.

“I am eating,” he said, holding up his mug.

“That’s not food.”

“It’s my hangover cure.”

“How? It’s making you drunk.”

“So I don’t get hungover,” he countered, smiling smugly.

I rolled my eyes, then pressed the toast to his lips again.

“Eat!”

“Woman!” he scolded, grabbing my wrist and pushing the toast away. “I am not a baby!”

“Then why do you act as one?"

-Cain-Willow walked almost like a robot into the dining room, so quiet as we joined the others. I felt slightly overwhelmed too, but it was clear my mate was processing. “So how did it go?” Weston asked as we joined them at the table again. “Fuck, I wish I was allowed to drink right now,” Willow groaned and chose the seat beside Carter this time and took his mug, smelling the alcohol because she couldn’t drink it. “You think you can get drunk on the smell?” Carter and Weston looked confused at Willow as I sat down in my former seat. Weston turned to me, looking concerned, but then I held up the ultrasound to him, and his eyes grew big. “Twins,” he said. “Let me see,” Carter told him, and he snatched the ultrasound. “Ooooh.” “Sometimes it is in the genes,” Weston teased. “You will have your hands full,” Carter chuckled, waving the ultrasound around. “Why do you think I am smelling your mug?” Willow asked, making us chuckle. “Oh yes, just laugh because none of you will push not

  • The Wrong Alpha Twin   Chapter 82

-Willow-I was home by myself, Cain having taken Carter out for a drive as he kept spiraling into a dark hole. I really hoped that Weston was right and that everything was going to be solved, because I hated seeing Carter like this. Only two days had passed since we were at the palace, and he was just getting worse. I even contemplate calling Eva and having a chat about it. She always seemed to know what to do in such a situation, but as I had the phone in my hand, coming down the staircase, the doorbell rang. I walked over to the door and was surprised to once again find Weston on the other side. “Hello, Willow,” he greeted. “Weston, Carter, and Cain aren’t here right now.” “That’s good. It’s you I wanted to talk to,” he told me. “Um, okay. Come inside.” I invited him in, and we found a quiet place to talk in a small living room. We had some snacks and tea beside us, but Weston touched none of it. He appeared almost nervous as he sat in front of me, rubbing his hands together. A

  • The Wrong Alpha Twin   Chapter 83

-Willow-I felt warm lips press against my neck, and I jumped a little. I turned, seeing Cain look confused at me as I reacted so powerfully to his touch. “Did I scare you?” he chuckled. “I, um…” I had not even heard him enter the room I was still standing in after bidding the king goodbye. I was so lost in my own world. “No.” “You sure? Your eyes are all big and filled with surprise,” he pointed out. “I’m fine. How was the drive with Carter?” I questioned. “Well, he definitely seems to have been uplifted a little, or so I thought,” he sighed and went to sit on the couch, reaching for some of the treats I had standing out and not asking to be taken care of. “Oh?” “He went right for the liquor cabinet when we came back. I can’t take this, Willow,” he groaned as he leaned back on the couch, munching on a cookie. “He just won’t talk to me!” “Well, Weston has promised we will know soon,” I reminded him. “When is soon? It’s almost a week later,” he pointed out. “And my brother is g

  • The Wrong Alpha Twin   Chapter 84

-Cain- “I don’t see the point in this,” my brother said as we stepped into the little gym we had in the house. I placed myself on the blue mat, jumping a little up and down and getting ready, yet Carter was standing at a distance, wearing sunglasses inside and a big hoodie over his training clothes that I had forced him to change into. He didn’t just look hungover, he was perfect for putting on a poster that advised people not to drink. He looked like a fucking mess. “You need it,” I told him. “Does it look like I want to workout right now?” he asked. “We are fighting and keeping our skills sharp,” I explained. “Why?” I didn’t really know what to say. What Willow had confessed to me scared the living shit out of me. Was my brother truly so depressed that he had become suicidal? Willow feared it, and we weren’t able to get Carter to react until the next day, and then we didn’t know what to say. So, I thought, after two days of leaving it alone, we needed to get him going again. Th

  • The Wrong Alpha Twin   Chapter 85

-Cain- “Goddess, look at your faces!” Willow exclaimed. “You’re starting to do serious damage!” As Carter and I sat down to eat, Willow came to inspect me, tilting my head to the side and taking in the cuts and the swelling. I grabbed her hands, kissed them, and then pulled her down on my lap. “We are fine,” I assured her. “We will heal,” Carter added. “Why are you hitting each other so hard?” “It’s called practice. We are keeping our skills sharp.” “But Carter can’t even open his right eye, and the cut on your lip is so swollen, I fear you can’t eat!” she scolded. “Eat the food or your—” I didn’t get to finish that sentence as she placed a hand over my mouth. “Not funny.” I pulled her hand down. “I think it was rather funny.” “What won’t the council think when they see you like that?” she murmured. “What do you mean?” She glanced between Carter and me, who looked puzzled at her. “You didn’t notice the meeting the council has called? Have you two been that distracted late

  • The Wrong Alpha Twin   Chapter 86

-Cain- I was so confused by why Weston had asked to be alone with us. He even asked us to stand up, and we all met in a small circle beside the table. Carter and I looked at him with a puzzled expression, but I could sense something strange on Willow’s end, yet besides her, only Weston didn’t appear perplexed by all of this. Even our mother seemed unsure about what was going on. “Why did you send them all out?” Carter asked, speaking the question that lingered on my tongue. “Because I wanted to do this in private before…” Weston looked at Willow, and I glanced at her, but when she felt my eyes on her, she turned to give me an apologetic look. “Weston,” my mother called, and I noticed her turning slightly scared. “Okay, what is going on?” I asked, needing some answers now. “You have to admit it,” he insisted, focusing on my mother. “Admit what? Admit what, Mom?” I pressed, and both Carter and I focused on her, but she looked away, not meeting our eyes. “What the hell is going o

  • The Wrong Alpha Twin   Chapter 87

-Willow- The news spread quickly and was as shocking to me as it was to everyone else. No one had expected the queen would go so far, and yet as the days dragged on, no one was sure how to punish the queen. The council and the princes were completely divided, and I couldn’t help but feel a bit bad. Now that I knew there was no longer any threat out there to me or my family and the mystery had been solved, I simply stopped being angry. I knew the queen should still be punished, but she wouldn’t have done what she did if she hadn’t been forced to smile and nod through the pain others had put her through. Weston had made a good point to me, I could have been the queen. I could have become just as desperate… “It’s really unbelievable she did it,” Eva said, breaking me free of my trance. She sat in front of me in a small café we had agreed to meet at so I could get out of the house. Cain and I rarely spoke at the moment, and Carter had gone to be with his mate, living with her, though I

  • The Wrong Alpha Twin   Chapter 88

-Willow- It was rather surprising how fast everything happened, and soon the queen was confided in the palace, confided to the section where her room was, and confided to the lower floor of that section. She had to have her meals brought, but this gave her a chance to be with Weston, and I saw how grateful he was for that. He even hugged Carter so hard, who was there to see the transfer happen, but Cain refused. Weston understood that, and so did his mate, but I could see how much they wished for Cain to be more accepting of all of this as well. For now, this was how it was going to be, and Carter and I walked together through the palace, both having homes to get back to. “So, do I ever get to be properly introduced to your mate?” I teased. “I have actually convinced her to move here with me. She is just nervous because we come from two different worlds.” “I can understand that. But then maybe we should all have dinner together.” “I am not sure we can lure Cain here. He is… determ

  • The Wrong Alpha Twin   Bonus Chapter

Want to learn what happened with Carter and his mate Sara at the party? -Carter- My heart froze as we stared into each other’s eyes. Hers were such a deep green, and I loved them from the moment I saw them. She gave me a nervous smile, clearly trying to ignore the message our wolves were giving us in our heads, and sped off with the glass on her tray. I kept looking after her, feeling an undeniable urge to follow her. “Carter!” my brother called, and I turned my head. “Huh?” I answered. “Come on, it’s us next,” Cain told me. “Um, yeah, just say hello from me,” I replied before taking off, hearing him call after me, but I couldn’t stop now. Every nerve in my body was vibrating, telling me to go find my mate. I had seen the way she had gone, leaving the ballroom, and as I came into the hallway, it was much easier to follow her scent. I found her in the kitchen, getting more glasses for the party, and hearing the servants work. I made sure not to enter and instead crept back a litt

  • The Wrong Alpha Twin   Epilogue

-Cain- I watched Weston hold one of my daughters over his head, making a funny face at her and making her laugh. It brought warmth to my heart watching it all happen, yet it was hard to shake the worry seeing my mother so close to my other daughter, whom I had reluctantly allowed her to hold. My daughters were only over a year old, but Carter had lived in this house for a good while now with his own mate, who had just given birth to a son, and it seemed to be okay. Surprisingly enough, everything was going okay, but I was never allowing my mother to be alone with my children, which I had made very clear to Willow. Yet it was hard to resist her when she told me to give it all a chance—to give my mother one. I couldn’t forgive her, but I saw now the benefits of letting her close because she was different. As I truly looked at her with my daughter, I saw she was different because she was allowed to be happy. Therefore, I knew I had to try, at least because I knew better than anyone wha
