Chapter TWO: Meeting the Alpha

4:30 was early but the pack has to train and what good of an Alpha would I be if I was late to our 5 am training session?  As I got out of bed I remembered I needed to make a phone call and schedule a meeting with Alpha Thomas of the Red Moon pack.  I changed quickly to just a black sports bra and a pair of grey training pants then splashed water on my face and brushed my teeth.  While I was braiding my hair back, I thought to myself, "Today should be one for the books".  I rushed outside to the training field and met up with Henry.

“Last night or well should I this morning was rather interesting,” stated Henry.

“Yes it was I am curious though why they came to me instead of going ahead with taking us out,” I replied.

“I am not sure to why they asked this of you, but why did you say yes when you know witches hate us?”

“Well Henry, you know what happened  to me and why I became the Alpha.  I won’t let a child suffer no matter what species it is.”

“I understand but we know you became Alpha because you were born with Alpha blood,” Henry stated.

“Come on lets get going.” I said ignoring what Henry said.  Even though it is the truth, I don't want to think of my late mate, who was an omega, would have never been a strong Alpha.

The hour and a half of training was a bitch.  I felt like I been hit by a truck, twice, which probably stems from the lack of sleep from last night.  I got back to my room showered and changed to a simple v-neck shirt and jeans just to make it to my office for the dreaded phone call.

On the 3rd ring Alpha Thomas answered. “Hello Alpha Minerva, what can I do for you?”

“I need a meeting with you and your Beta if you don’t mind.”

“Straight to the point I see, sure thing, I can be there this afternoon say around 2 pm.”

“That would be perfect. Thanks.”

“No problem see you soon,” Alpha Thomas replied as he hung up the phone.

Interesting he didn’t ask why I am asking for a meeting with him.  I wonder if he already knows what’s going as word travels fast in the supernatural world no matter what species it is. 

"I guess I will find out when he gets here later," I said to myself when I hear a knock on my door.

“Come in,” I said as Henry was already opening my door. 

“Alpha there is a letter for you from the same people that kidnapped the Porter’s daughter,” Henry rushed out.

I snatched the letter from him and opened it quickly

Alpha Minerva,

We know the Porter’s came to you for help finding their daughter.  The thing is, is that was not what they were supposed to do knowing that you are the one who we are trying to destroy.  So because of that the Porter's will now have to be taught a lesson for coming to the Lunar Pack.

Happy Hunting Minerva.

I slammed my fist down making my desk jump as the Porter’s walked through the door. 

“What happened?” questioned Celeste with tears in her eyes.

“They know that you both came to me for help to find your daughter.  So now they are saying they are going to teach you a lesson for coming to me for help,” I said rubbing my hands down my face. 

“I know which packs scent is on those letters and I have a meeting with their Alpha and Beta today at 2 pm.  For now though, I believe we have a mole somewhere feeding them information so we must be careful and diligent in what we say and do around here.  I don’t want to trigger anything and they go ahead and decide to hurt that baby.”

“So what are we to do?” asked Simon.

“Go back to your coven and let them know what is happening and that we are allies in this situation.  The last thing I need is your coven coming after us if they think we are the ones trying to hurt them,” I said smiling at them.

“Okay Alpha.  Here is my number, please call us if you find out anything,” said Simon.

“Of course. Henry please escort them to the border please.”

“Yes, Alpha.” I sighed after they left my office thinking of what is happening.  It’s been quiet the last 4 years that I have been Alpha, why is someone trying to start something now? Who are they anyways and are they with anyone of my pack? I put my head in my hands and sighed again, “I guess I should start paperwork while waiting for Alpha Thomas to get here,” I said to no one in particular.  Hopefully Thomas gives me some leads to get on with all of this.
