Something Isn’t Right

Nathaniel was still sitting across from me in my office sipping another whiskey and I was halfway through my third mojito when Edward called.

“Ed, what can I do for you at this late hour?”

“My apologies, Ophelia, I’m sure you’re busy, but I have some concerns about something going on in my territory.”

I held my finger up to my lips, telling Nathaniel not to say anything. I needed to hear where this was going to go.

“Carry on,” I replied.

“There seems to be a couple rogue wolves that have been hanging around, we’re concerned that they may pose a threat.”

“What kind of threat?”

“They’ve been loitering predominantly around my house and Nathaniel’s house, I’m concerned someone is planning a takeover.”

“Ed, you know I can’t get involved with any challenge attempts. Has anyone threatened you, your son or anyone else?”

The door opened. Luke was back, finally. I gave him a small smile, before turning my attention back to Ed.
