102. Rhythm of his heart

Emma shuddered against the cold breeze striking against her skin.

Gone was the warmth she cocooned herself in as she fell asleep, and now, covered by a thin cloth, she felt the hair raise up on her body. Her throat was dry, and the cold air burned against her nose as she reeled a shaky breath in. Suddenly, she felt fully aware of her body. She felt a soreness in her entire body accompanied by some raise in temperature. She noticed that it hurt to even move a limb, and she couldn’t help but groan at the feeling.

Right then, she felt aware of someone’s touch on her shoulder, slowly turning her. When she first opened her eyes, it was all dark and blurry, barely helping her make out anything. She could hear someone whisper against her ear, but she struggled to find coherence in them. Defeated, she closed her eyes once again, drifting back into slumber.

When she next awoke, Emma realized that she was moving. Within a few seconds, she could tell that she was in a vehicle, possibly a car
