WARNING - THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS A GRAPHIC DEATH
Willing my feet to move was near impossible. The agonizing screams filled the air along with the thick fog of smoke. Wolves were swarming the clashing groups of vampires. Quickly the open fields and streets of the town were crowded. It was horrid seeing that so many bodies were present people were fighting side by side with the lack of room. The pungent smell of copper being carried in the wind.
I had to grab onto the doorway to keep myself from falling over as my knees began shaking watching the scene unfold. Gerwulf's fire was high in the air licking the fabric of the cloaks the royal blue vampires wore. I watched one by one as they were set ablaze letting out guttural screams of agony.
Who was even attacking us and why? A sickening feeling was creeping into my soul saying it had to do with the person that Anais had mentioned. But why? I had never even he
Julian gently lifted me up into his arms, holding me protectively to his chest. I gripped the tatters of his shirt tightly as I tried to ignore the glare of the wolf across from us. Gerwulf was fuming, and based off the red tint slowly taking over his skin it was just moments until he actually was. "Keep your hands to yourself," Gerwulf growled out."Do you really think she's even going to be willing for anything like that after what happened last night?" Julian growled back at him.Gerwulf took a step forward, getting close enough I could feel the heat as his body temperature rapidly rose," she's not the one I don't trust.""Please stop talking about me like I'm not here," I glared between them both," I just really want to get out of here."Julian and Gerwulf kept their eyes locked until they both let out a deep breath and finally separated. The tension in the air stayed thick as he carefully left t
The hallways had been cleared of the battle by the time we exited the room. Pieces of broken furniture and remnants of poorly cleaned up blood were the only signs left. Gerwulf stalked in front of me, switching between clenching his fists and mumbling to himself as we walked the safe parts of what was left of the pack house.Julian stirred beneath my shirt, digging his small feet into my skin in any way that could help him cling to me. Gerwulf had insisted he stay out of pack business, but the vampire wouldn't back down on the claim that he had the right to be by my side during all situations. After listening to their long awkward power struggle I gave the suggestion and Gerwulf had reluctantly agreed to it. Likely just to shut him up.We stayed in silence the entire walk, daylight starting to filter in through the broken walls and uncovered windows of the building. My hands came up covering my mouth as I yawned. It had been a long night and
By the time the next morning rolled around I was having a hard time keeping my eyes open. Gerwulf had left before the sun had even risen, waking me up in the process. I reluctantly tossed around in the bed until Julian had crankily woken up and dragged me into the shower. Today was going to be long and the stress was rising as Gerwulf's emotions were flooding through the bond.I was sitting on the bed still wrapped in my towel as a long yawn left my lips. A small knock rapped against the door and I jumped up eagerly opening the door. A meek looking man stood on the other side, his eyes going wide and cheeks red as he took in my lack of dress," L-Luna... I have your breakfast. The Alpha would like to know when you will be arriving?" He shakily held out the tray that had eggs, bacon, avocado, and a cup of pills. Behind them were two black cups.I licked my lips, taking in a deep breath as I took the tray," tell him I'll be down in twenty minut
Finding Finn was the easy part, gaining access wasn't proving to be so easy. The old dungeons had been mostly destroyed from some explosions that had occurred during the attack."Sorry Luna," One of the guards spoke. His eyes were taking us all in and he looked deeply uneasy," Alpha's orders. Nobody is to come down here.""We need to get in there," I shouted, trying my best to look intimidating and not meek."It's urgent," Sadie spat. She looked absolutely unhinged and anxious. Her usual cool and collected demeanor was long gone. She gripped her fists to her sides, skin beginning to glow brightly as her magick was fighting to break free."Can't you just make this one exception?" Beth cooed. She kept Demeter close in her sling as she batted her long eyelashes trying to persuade the guards. The demeanor of every one of them drastically changed at her actions. All the men stiffened
The room was too cold, and yet my body felt too hot. Somebody had carried me into one of the hospital rooms and strapped me to this fucking uncomfortable bed. Cinnabar was swarming my mind and pulling me into an endless sea of anger. He had such a small temper that honestly irritated me almost constantly. What a pity to be so strong, but so unable to control such a big part of yourself. 'You were never meant to control me,' Cinnabar's harsh voice brought me into reality,' that was never part of the plan.' 'I know,' It was the only thing I could say. He was right. I was never meant to last this long. It was by mere coincidence and luck of fate that the darkness hadn't started to take me sooner. Sure, in some ways it already had - but not completely. Maybe the first time I'd smelt the faintest hint of Julian on Eloise I had been close. Never anything like this t
"Babydoll," Gerwulf's voice flooded the old library. I looked up from the cart full of books I was currently picking out. It had been nearly a month since the attack at this point. Gerwulf had guards following me and Beth at all times. We were on our last week before this pack house would be torn down. I wanted to save some of the books in the children's section for Gideon. To keep a piece of Harvest Moon with us. "We're over here, Alpha," one of the guards spoke up. I placed the book I was currently holding down and turned as his footsteps sounded closer. Both of my mates' scents had become overpowering at this point. Wrapping around my senses and invading everything. Whether it was because I had started to feed from Julian more or because my inner shifter was finally waking up I wasn't sure. Just that I could now scent them before they came too close. "Hey," my greeting almost a whisper.
"You ready?" Julian sang out happily. He was fiddling with the clasp on his cloak. I walked up to him and hooked the two ends together with a smile," very ready and excited." A big smile spreading across my face as he leaned in giving me a quick kiss."Hurry up!" Robin's voice echoed through the quiet hallways.Julian rolled his eyes and took my hand, leading me through the old house. The entire family was dressed and ready to go. Anais surprisingly included. The little vampire shot me a glare but quickly looked down to the ground. I raised a brow and looked to Julian who seemed to not notice the exchange at all. Robin looked impatiently at us. Forrest was sporting a big grin on his face and Colette looked as if she was ready to jump with joy.Today we'd be checking on the pups to see how they were growing. The vampires were dying to verify our words so they could dispel the current gossip and let everybody know they wer
Wake up. A familiar ghastly voice fills my mindWhat? My eyes search but only find darkness.Wake. Up. This time it's a lot more angry sounding.Who are you? I look around and yet again see nothing.You. The answer comes simply. Now... Wake. The. Fuck. Up!It feels like a jolt of electricity runs though my body and my eyes fly open. My heart is beating so fast I'm afraid I'm going to faint. The room is spinning and I'm filled with nausea."Eloise," Julian's voice is filled with worry. I hear the shuffling of feet and in seconds his cold arms are wrapped around me," what happened?"I open my mouth to speak but can't form words. I gasp loudly and Julian rubs my shoulders lightly trying to calm me down. The panic attack gets to the point he lays me on my si
"Quinn moved on already Gideon," his words stung. I looked up from the photos and straight into his eyes that were the same shade of amber as mine. He wore a pained look. I knew how he felt about the situation with Quinn and I. I knew he still blamed himself for me losing my mate. "I know," I couldn't hold back the growl that ripp
I want to give a big thank you to everybody who followed along with this story. It took a lot for me to upload it in the first place and it makes me incredibly happy to see that people were interested in it. :) This will be continued in my second book "Love Thy Hellhound"! I have already started uploading chapters on it but I will give a sneak peak into the book for those who might be interested. LTHH is going to be a lot darker and include some of the characters from this story. It starts off nine years from the time the last "Aftermath" chapter takes place. It is currently only available through the mobile site because it hasn't been signed yet. I've already uploaded nine chapters of it. Again a big thank you for anybody who gave this book a chance! I appreciate each and every one of you. -INSECT
GIDEON There are very few times I can ever remember my mother crying in front of us. After the birth of my other siblings and when dad said overly sweet things to her. Other than that were the times my father was involved. Whether it be he came home from one of the council's missions in ill health or they had one of their many arguments... she cried. "There has to be something you can do," my mother's broken voice filled our kitchen. As I stared into her red eyes my heart ached. I had been the one to make her cry this time. Was I just as bad as my father? Quinn's warm hand was placed onto my shoulder and I relaxed a bit. My father grabbed his glass of dark liquid again and downed it. He looked awful, having just come back from a mission days ago. Deep red hair a shaggy mess around his shoulders and dark bags beneath his eyes. He stood in front of me at the kitchen island, staring down at m
QUINNI just knew that leaving would be a bad idea. Everyday away for the last three months it's felt like I'm losing my mind. His smell, touch... all of it. I craved it so much. Slipping up and giving into my darkest desires during that party ruined everything. It completely broke all the rules my pack and his parents had given me.I wasn't allowed to make a move on Gideon until he had his first shift. It was forbidden amongst most werewolves and lycans to let a mate know you're theirs until they come of age.The moment he left my mother had confronted me. His thick scent of sandalwood was now intertwined with mine. Soaking up every bit of my being and making me dizzy.Being sent away for 'training' was her form of punishment. She was worried I was going to mess up everything they'd planned. Gerwulf had become unpredictable once the council started contracting him for work.
GIDEON My foot pressed down harder as I started to speed carelessly through the traffic. Who was he to tell me what to do?! My anger was flaring as Otto was fighting against me to stay calmed down. If I got too pissed I'd shift and being this publicly exposed would be bad. Humans frequented this town as much as the supernaturals. "Yes we are!" I swerved recklessly, pulling into the first parking spot at the mall. I went to jump out of the car, but Quinn pulled me back in hard. His nostrils were flaring with his canines elongated. He wasn't trying to hide just how absolutely pissed off he was in this moment. "We. Are. Not. Going," he pronounced each words hard. His grip on my wrist tightening. "Stop treating me like a child!" I was yelling at this point. "You ARE a child! Maybe you aren't five, but if you want me to treat you li
GIDEON'You should really cut your hair,' Otto, my shifter spirit hissed at me.I rolled my eyes, staring into the mirror. I'd just gotten out of the shower after morning training with the pack. Did I really look that bad? My large hands twisted through my long brown locks. Maybe? Demeter said she liked guys with longer hair.'Yes you do. Don't listen to that girl,' he grew more impatient.Otto had been a constant source of annoyance my entire life. He'd been awake in my mind since childhood. Something that I never told my parents about. Mom doesn't know about the deal that my father made with the council. It's better if neither of them know about this. When both of my sides awaken then I have to start my service. Five years, no exceptions. It was a thought that had haunted me for a long time. Father told me about it on my thirteenth bi
7 years later..."Please please try not to break anything this time!" Gerwulf was in full on dad mode as we all piled out of the car. Gideon was the first to jump out of the vehicle with the big bag of cookies he'd made for dinner. His younger brothers followed behind him quickly. Our family had grown rapidly since everything went down. Since things had become calm. Things had changed drastically for the pack. Some for the better... some for the worst possible. Wolves were being born with abilities beyond what should be possible. Ash Walker was now on a gag order from Gerwulf. People weren't to talk about our family and I was strictly banned from attending anything with him. Both Julian and Gerwulf were too afraid of another rebellion happening.Aldric Stoll's pack was now under close watch while we waited for his grandson to come of age. Mason, the pack Beta was left alive and tasked w
"Alright alright. Give him back," Julian was pouting like a child as he watched his parents take turns holding Max. Forrest laughed at his son while Colette hissed lightly and hugged her grandson tighter. "You'll get him back when we're ready to give him back," she snapped. I couldn't hold in the laughter watching Julian deflate and sulk back over to our bed. My head pounded as my muscles tensed up with laughter. "It's not fair. All of you guys have had hours to be with him and I've only had minutes," he lay his head into my lap and puffed out his bottom lip. "Guess we'll just have to make another so you always have a baby to hold," I used my free hand to pet at his hair. The other was currently occupied with Gideon who slept soundly curled against my chest. He'd cried so hard when Gerwulf put him down that it felt like my ear drums were ready to burst. Thankfully some milk had fixed that problem. Jack from the cou
Aldric. Fucking. Stoll.Bane of my goddess given existence.Julian's warnings of Robin had sent me into a panic, but never did I think that it would be this bad. I had been on my way back from breaking up the fight between Ross and Simon when I heard her getting sick. One look at her features and the puddle of blood on the floor let me know she had been poisoned. What I hadn't expected was what I saw when my mother lifted her shirt. Whatever had entered her system was working fast.I hated myself for leaving her alone to finish decorating the houses. If I hadn't left...Julian's cries were echoing in the hollowed out chamber that was my mother's apothecary area. He hadn't stopped sobbing and exhausting himself trying to move since he'd been tossed down here with the rest of us. Dietrich, Vance, my mother, my father, and Robin were all out cold. Twenty minutes after tossing us down here they threw dow
