DESTINY

A week later Kaitlyn came to pick me up. She made an appointment at an exclusive wedding boutique for me. Our wedding planner waited for us. The time had come to pick a dress. I was a bundle of nerves; my hands were all sweaty and gross. I kept telling myself that it was just a dress it didn’t mean anything seeing as this wasn’t a real wedding. But it felt as real as can be.

We were welcomed by the store manager herself, a lady with large glasses resting on her chest and nails like talons, long and painted red with a ring on every finger except her thumbs which I found fascinating. Kaitlyn introduced me to the wedding planner, a Miss Tasha Vandervalk.

“Stunning. You’ll make a lovely bride. Just lovely.” The manager clasped her hands together, inspecting me all over. “I believe we have just the right dress for you, my angel.” Her smile revealed big horsey teeth which seemed too big for her mouth.

“Yes, there are some exclusive labels here that I think will suffice.” The wedding

The day of our official engagement party came way too fast. My nerves were on edge, forming knots in my stomach as James stopped in front of one of the fancy hotels owned by the Barrington group.“Hey,” James took my hand in his, “It won’t be so bad. Just smile and look gorgeous. You do, by the way.” He smiled his sexy, dimpled smile which made my knees feel like jelly.“I don’t know about this.” I pulled back, hesitating to go through the revolving doors.A slight frown marred the space between his eyes. “Are you getting cold feet on me now, Sugar? You look like you could bolt.”I wished I could. I smoothed down my Christian Dior scallop dress. It was white and showed off my curves. The heels were killing me, and the night hadn’t even started. I didn’t fancy white that much, but James said it suited me. Virginal white. He was never going to let that go. James was dressed in his usual black pants, no jacket and his black dress shirt rolled up at the sleeves. No matter what he wore he

“What the hell, James?” I whispered through clenched teeth while trying to smile at the faces watching us. “Who is she?”“My past, come back to haunt me.” James said, staring at the woman across the table.“I’m Jenna, by the way, James’ ex-fiancée.” She held out a delicate right hand to me and I had no choice but to gently touch her perfectly manicured fingers to mine.“Destiny.” I tried to smile.Grandfather Barrington sipped his wine innocently, but I caught a glint in those blue eyes of his, and it made me wary. He was up to something, and it spelled trouble.“Jenna, I’m surprised to see you here.” Lord Barrington said, casting cold glances at his father. The waiters began bringing in the first course, the starter, and the string quartet played a soft, haunting melody.Jenna had the most gorgeous grey eyes; they reminded me of a cat I once had when growing up.“Yes, I must say I hesitated to come at first, but Grandfather insisted.” She smiled at the old man who looked as if butter

Why the hell did I start to cry? Maybe it was because Ronan’s face was so sympathetic and he talked to me so softly, unlike his usual booming tone. The next thing I knew I was in his embrace, and he stroked my back to comfort me. It didn’t feel the same as when James held me, but it felt good. He was so solid.“I’m sorry, so sorry. I didn’t mean to bawl like this. It’s just…” I tried to pull away from him, but he wasn’t letting me go.“Shh, it’s okay. It’s been too much. You can cry on my shoulder any time, honey.” Ronan petted my head. He was so tall I couldn't reach his shoulder even if I stood on my tiptoes. That made me smile.“I would need a ladder,” I said and chuckled. He handed me a serviette to wipe my nose.“See, now that’s better. You have a stunning smile.”“Destiny?” James came rushing up to us. “What the fuck?” he scowled at Ronan who had his arm around my waist. “Why are you crying, Sugar?” he pulled me away from Ronan.“You should know, daft fucker.” Ronan spat at him.

JAMES“For Jenna’s benefit,” she said. Jenna who? I thought as I took possession of Destiny’s delectable mouth. God, the way she tasted! It was like a religious experience, for a minute I heard angel choirs singing in my head. She melted against me. I couldn’t believe it. So soft and pliable. How the hell was I supposed to keep my hands off her? Damn my father. He knew I would never be able to resist this girl. That is why he removed that clause. But would she be able to resist me? I hoped not. But it would be selfish of me to want her for myself. She was so young and innocent.“James…” she tried to catch her breath. I was a damn good kisser.“I think that’s convincing enough.” She whispered near my ear and extricated herself from my arms. She sashayed away from the bar.I stifled a disappointed groan. I was just starting to enjoy myself. For a virgin, she certainly knew how to turn a man on. Or maybe she just wasn’t aware of it.“I don’t know how you do it, mate. What’s your secret,

DESTINYThe drive back to the James’ house was tense. I didn’t want to speak to him. I was angry and ashamed that I had given in to my feelings and he had taken advantage of me. Jenna was right, James would break my heart without a second thought. I had to be more careful. Especially when we’re alone.Damn him, his kisses made me melt. I wouldn’t have been able to stop him if he wanted to go further. In fact, I wanted him to go further, but when he placed my hand under his shirt I was afraid. This was just a game to him. I had to remind myself constantly. There was no way he would give up his playboy ways for me.Jenna’s words came back to haunt me; “You don’t have what it takes to satisfy a man like James.” Heaven knows, she was right. I was inexperienced and it showed. I felt such a fool. But I won’t make the same mistake again.Sneaking a peek at James while he drove, I noticed the firm set of his mouth. He looked serious and forbidding. Was he angry with me? Well, he had no reason

  • The Wild Billionaire's Destiny   Fighting the Past

JAMESJenna sent me a text message which I read hours after we got home. She wanted to see me, to talk. Yeah, like hell she wanted to talk. I couldn’t sleep and went prowling around the house and that’s when I heard Destiny moaning in her sleep. Was I tempted to go to her? Fuck, yes. I wanted to go into her room and make her moan out my name like I heard her while I took her little virgin pussy. But of course, I didn’t. Instead, I went to work off steam at my gym, pumping iron until I almost fainted from exhaustion.Seeing her this morning was too much for me to take. I needed to get out of the house. Standing so close to me, her sweet intoxicating scent filling my nostrils I almost gave up my resolve to never again kiss her. My Hayabusa ate up the road as I took the turns and curves almost touching the tar with my knee. Speed have always been my escape, trying to outrun my demons.I was on my way to see Jenna. At least the bitch had the presence of mind to book a place in another hot

  • The Wild Billionaire's Destiny   A Good Girl

DESTINYThe look on James’ face as he rushed past me scared me. I thought he’d been hurt, or someone had died, how pale and wild he looked. I wished he would talk to me, but I would never force him. I went to the kitchen to make some tea and took it into the living room. The house seemed too quiet and too empty today. I turned the television on, flicking through the programs but nothing interested me.I was restless, wanting to know what had happened. Not being able to sit still I jumped off the couch and went outside to sit by the pool taking advantage of the mild weather. I took off my sandals and dipped my feet into the heated water. My mind kept going to my conversation with Jenna. So green it showed. Gosh, was it really that bad to be inexperienced? At least I have something to look forward to once I decide to give up my virginity to someone I loved and respected.Daydreaming with my eyes closed, my feet dangling in the water and the sun baking my back I didn’t notice I wasn’t al

“You have to ask?!” James glared at Ronan.I watched the two of them glaring at each other.“Do you mind? Don’t I get a say in this?” I didn’t really want a bachelorette party seeing as our wedding was a fake. Besides, I only had one friend and I wasn’t even sure if she would come to my wedding.“No!” James said.“Jesus, James. She’s not your child, for God’s sake.” Ronan sprang off the couch sending his drink flying off the end table.“I know that, but you know how those girls can be and I’m not letting them get Destiny into trouble.” James got up to get a towel from the kitchen. I followed him.“There you go again not trusting me. I would never do anything I don’t want to.” I grabbed his arm. “Besides, you can’t forbid me to go.” I pushed my chin out defiantly. He grabbed a dishtowel from the rack and stomped back. He threw the towel at Ronan.“Fine, go if you must. But don’t come crying to me if they get you into shit.” He turned and stomped away only to come back. “We have an appo

Initially, confusion washed over me, for I was certain I should have been somewhere else. Yet, lying there among the blossoms, gazing up at the expanse of the cerulean sky, a sense of pure bliss enveloped me. I wanted to stay there forever. It felt like heaven.Suddenly, a familiar voice called out my name, breaking the tranquility of the moment. "Mother?" I sprang up, searching the surroundings with bewilderment. It had to be a dream, it couldn't be real. But then, there she was, appearing exactly as I remembered her.Overwhelmed with joy, I tried to run towards her, but my movements felt as if I were tramping through heavy sand. At Lord Barrington's insistence, I agreed to accompany him to a hotel just a block away from the hospital. As the owner, he had the manager prepare the grand presidential suite for our stay.Stepping into the suite, I couldn’t help but be impressed by the grandeur. They spared no expense, from the crystal chandelier in the center of the living room to the oriental rugs adorning the floor. Three luxurious bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom, left me in awe. Without Lord Barrington by my side, I would have felt utterly out of place in the opulent suite.Lord Barrington said kindly, “At least now you can take a warm shower and have a good night’s rest.”He left me in the bedroom I chose at random, thinking how strange it was spending the night with my father-in-law alone in a hotel. The gossip tabloids would definitely have a lot to speculate about if they got wind of it. I chuckled mirthlessly to myself. What a ridiculous thing to be worried about under the circumstances. • The Wild Billionaire's Destiny   The Long Wait

Was I dreaming? The world around me felt surreal, like a hazy fog had descended upon reality. The air was thick with a mix of anticipation and dread. Just a few hours ago, we were filled with joy, discussing baby names and envisioning the perfect nursery. The nightmare of Jenna's death seemed like it was finally coming to conclusion, and we could move on from all of it. Everything was supposed to be fine. But then, in a split second, it all came crashing down.Curious onlookers buzzed about, their whispers and murmurs blending in a cacophony of noise. Security officers stood tall, forming a barrier between the crowd and the chaotic scene unfolding before them. Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably, blending with the sticky warmth that seeped through my trembling fingers as I clung desperately to James."James, don't leave me," I pleaded through sobs, my voice choked with anguish. I gently caressed his deathly pale face, hoping beyond hope that my touch could somehow anchor him to

  • The Wild Billionaire's Destiny   Drama at the Courthouse

DESTINYIt was late evening when we made our way back home. The violet sky overcast with gray clouds hanging low signaled the promise of snow. Winter has finally arrived.Lord Barrington seemed reluctant to let us leave, finding many excuses to keep us there. The aroma of a delicious lunch drifted through the air, enticing us to stay. As the hours passed, lunch turned into dinner, filling the grand dining room with the clinking of cutlery and the soft murmur of conversation. Afterwards, the staff brought us steaming cups of tea, accompanied by the sweet aroma of freshly baked biscuits. I couldn’t resist. It was as if Lord Barrington didn't want to be left alone in that massive, eerie mansion. And honestly, I couldn't blame him. The place felt haunted, even if I didn't believe in such things. At least there was some semblance of harmony between James and his father. They engaged in polite conversation, discussing minor matters instead of arguing. It was a significant improvement, and

JAMESHaving heard nothing from my father, we drove to the hospital, anyway. Destiny insisted we stop at a fast-food restaurant on the way to get my dad something to eat. The aroma of sizzling burgers and salty fries wafted through the air, mingling with the scent of freshly brewed coffee.“I don’t care if it’s not healthy, James. He needs comfort food. Just this once.” She was determined to get him what she considered being comfort food. I just shook my head. I’ve never seen my dad eat a hamburger and fries. Ever. But there was no arguing with a pregnant woman. The lack of peanut butter or strawberry ice cream in the house had already agitated her. I had to promise her solemnly to get it for her.We found him in the waiting room where we left him. He looked as if he hadn’t slept at all, his tired eyes reflecting the fluorescent lights overhead. The uncomfortable chairs creaked as we sat down next to him. Outside the waiting area, the hospital staff carried on with their task. The low

He had regained his composure after his emotional outburst. I thought it was endearing to see him so vulnerable. He hardly ever showed that side of him.“I know, but I just couldn’t keep quiet any longer. Not after what he confessed to.” Lord Barrington rubbed his temples as if he had a headache.Looking closely at Lord Barrington, I noticed a red welt on one side of his face. “What happened to your face?” I blurted out.He subconsciously stroked over the red mark. “He struck me with his walking stick,” he said, grimacing. “Right before he fell.”Curiosity piqued, I asked, “What did you argue about?”He let out a deep sigh. “It doesn’t matter now.”“Really?” James raised an eyebrow at his father, his voice filled with skepticism. “Was it about the inheritance?”“Among other things.
