“I’m already yours.”

“How true could that be?” she asked, unable to brush away the memory of him rejecting her. What he said was one of the sweetest words she had ever heard and she will have it engraved in her heart forever.

But then, these sweet words are as memorable as hurtful actions.

“Sometimes… I feel like you are, and then the next day, you aren’t anymore.” Her voice was barely audible, but with Nikolai’s face so close to her, he heard every word that she said. “I can feel it, Nikolai. You are haunted by the past that I know, but couldn’t remember.”

“I’m ready to put the past behind and move on. I’ve moved on.”

“Maybe this is a good thing that you’re here.” Belle pointed at the extra chair in front of the vanity mirror. “We can’t have this conversation over and over again. I need clear lines.”
