Lucas
Lucas Gray could not concentrate on his history class. He had just found his mate. His wolf had sensed her immediately he entered the class and it had leaped for excitement. It was magical. He had been told what it felt like when a wolf finds its mate but experiencing it himself was a whole different matter. His parents were going to be so glad when they heard this, he thought to himself. But there was only one problem. He couldn't smell any wolf on her. Wasn't she a werewolf? Or was she a latent submissive? But he knew that wasn't the case. He would be able to smell her even if she was latent. Also, everything he said seemed to surprise her like she had never heard such terms being used before. At one point, she was even looking at him like he was crazy. There was only one explanation for all this, he thought to himself. She was a human. He had suspected it the moment he saw her but chose not to believe it. It was all just denial. She didn't seem to have the depth of a werewolf. She definitely was a human. But why would the moon goddess mate the next Alpha of the lucent pack with a human. What would the pack say about having a human as their luna? Most importantly, what were his father going to think about it? Lucas stole a glance back at her but she was so focused on her writing she did not see him. She was beautiful no doubt and looked fit for a luna. But what would she think if he told all about himself? She would freak out for sure. A human should have no place in a werewolf's pack. This was going to be an issue. The moon goddess must be joking, he thought. Why mate him with a human girl knowing fully that he could not marry anyone who was not his mate.
It occured to Lucas then that he was going to have to place his mark on her. It was what his werewolf had wanted the moment it saw her but had to let common sense prevail. The Hills were missed with both humans and werewolves and the werewolves' presence was meant to be kept secret. Only those who were werewolves knew themselves but the humans usually had to rely on stories to know about them. Lucas resisted the urge to turn and stare at Kayla again until the class was over. She rushed out immediately, not sparing him another look. He knew exactly what she thought of him. She must think he is weird. He thought of following her. He would catch up with her in no time. But he did not. He stood up and walked out of the class to his next class.
At the close of school, Lucas Gray sat on the bonnet of his black lexus jeep inside the car park as he waited for Kayla to pass by. He had to see her again and talk to her even though he was not sure of what he was going to say. He had secretly stalked her throughout the day and saw when she walked into her last class for the day which was Chemistry. The class must be running a little late. Or she must. She was the only thing he had thought about throughout the day. The only thought on his mind.
He saw her then walking out the building with a black girl who was slim with black curly hair. He snapped his fingers angrily. He had hoped to see her alone. Perhaps she would part ways with the other girl and then he would approach her. Not that it mattered though. He would approach her anyway but he wouldn't want Charlotte telling Kayla anything about him. Charlotte worked for the school's newspaper and was known to have a near obsession with writing about werewolves and vampires. She had caused so much rumour and controversy because of the damn paper. Lucas hissed. He would have to wait until Kayla parted ways with Charlotte. They passed by him then, laughing at something. Lucas noted with annoyance that Kayla didn't even glance his way. No girl at Hills passes him without turning to look. He sometimes saw them whispering excitedly about how cute he was but he didn't give a damn about any of them. Even Charlotte gave him an almost imperceptible glance as she passed by.
Lucas turned to watch them. They both got to the road and Lucas saw a car pull up. Charlotte got into the car and Kayla waved her goodbye. Now was his chance, Lucas thought to himself. He hopped down from the hood of his car and strolled towards Kayla who stood in the road. She was probably waiting for a cab or her pick, Lucas thought.
"Hi again" Lucas said
She swirled around a little too suddenly.
"Hi" she said, with a frown on her face as if she could suddenly not remember where she had seen him before.
"It's Lucas. We met before" he offered
"Yea, I remember" Kayla said. She kept looking to the road as if she would rather be doing anything than talking to him.
"So..how was your first day?" He asked. He wasn't sure what to say really. He wasn't great at small talks.
"It was good" Kayla said
"Made any friends?" Licas asked and kicked himself internally. It was exactly the kind of question a parent would ask.
"Yes, i have" Kayla said and went quiet
"Where are you headed? Let me drop you off" Lucas said.
"Thanks but my mom will be here soon" Kayla said
"Alright, I'll wait with you" he said. She looked at him disapprovingly and turned to face the road without saying anything. They both stood there quietly for almost 10 minutes. He could see she was beginning to get apprehensive. Her phone rang then. She picked up the call and moved some distance away from him with her back turned to him. He waited and stared at the back of her beautiful blond hair. It was so blond and so straight that he wanted to run his fingers through it.
She was frowning when she came back.
"My mom won't be able to pick me up. She just started a new job and she has to put some things in place at work". She said and looked at him hopefully. "Is your offer for a ride still available?" She asked and lifted up an eyebrow
Lucas face broke into a smile, his green eyes lighting up.
"Yes. Yes it is" he said.
Kayla Kayla made a new friend. Her name was Charlotte Jackson and she was editor of the school paper. She had sat with her in her last class which was Chemistry. They had to miss some liquids in some tubes. Apparently they had done it before but Kayla had no idea what was going on. Luckily for her, Charlotte came to her rescue and they missed their samples together. Charlotte was an African American with shiny skin and black curly hair. She laughed loudly and easily and Kayla felt drawn to the charm of her laugh. She told Kayla that she had been attending 'The Hills' all her life which basically meant since high school. She had a lot to tell Kayla about the hills she said. It was an interesting place to be. Kayla was excited about making Charlotte acquainted. After Chemistry which was her last class, she walked out of the classroom with Charlotte. Charlotte told her her mother was already on her way to pick her up and Kayla walked her to the road. Charlotte's mom pulled up after a
Lucas Lucas was beyond excited when Kayla agreed that he could drive her home. He had felt blighted when she refused initially but then her mother called her to say she couldn't make it. It was like the universe was helping to get them together. She was the quiet type, Lucas thought as Kayla sat quietly in the passenger's seat close to him. After she came down and thanked him, they both stared at each other for some time. It was like some sort of magnetic force was pulling them together but Lucas resisted. Not yet, he told himself. He still had to deal with the issue of her being a human. He still had to talk to his father, the Alpha, about her. She was all he thought about as he drove home. His house was located in a community partially hidden in a groove and surrounded by trees.but not a lot of people knew that. By the time he drove to the end of the road leading out of Hillcity, there was usually no one going that direction. He thought about Kayla as he drove through the famil
The punch landed on Derrick's jaw and he staggered back and growled not like a man but like a wolf. His werewolf must be so pissed. Derrick turned red with anger immediately. He drew back and clenched his first to land a blow on Lucas but Lucas saw it coming and he was fast. He moved out of Derrick's reach before his first could hit him. He stepped back gracefully like a cat and crouched down ready to defend himself. Derrick clenched his jaw and Lucas could see a vein popping out of his forehead. He gritted his teeth and faced Lucas squarely ready to launch himself upon him. But before he could make the leap, a voice came from behind him "Stop it"! The voice said. Both Lucas and Derrick turned back to see the Alpha standing at the entrance of the hall. Derrick growled again out of anger but he withdrew his punch His black eyes burned as he walked by Lucas' side. "Tomorrow, at lake Maine, 6pm" he said in Lucas's ear as he walked away. Derrick had set a date and place for their f
Kayla Kayla could not stop thinking about Lucas after he dropped her home from school. She could not stop thinking of his beautiful green eyes and golden brown hair. Gosh, the guy was perfect. Maybe this city wasn't so bad afterall, she thought to herself. There was something so special about Lucas but she couldn't quite place her hands on it. He had the grace of a prince and the character of someone who knows that not everything needs to be said. There was something just so mysterious about him. Was it his air or just the way he looks at her like he held the secret of the universe in those perfect green eyes? And the scar in his face, Kayla couldn't just really get past it. She wanted to know how he got the scar. Infact, she wanted to know everything about him and more. She was looking forward to seeing him in school the next day. She hoped he was still going to offer her a ride. She wouldn't think twice before saying yes. Maybe they could even sit together at lunch, Kayla thought but
When Kayla arrived at school the next day, she immediately started searching Lucas out with her eyes. She was so excited and couldn't wait to see him but she told herself that she was not going to show him all of the excitement that she was feeling about him when she saw him. Where did her pride go? Of course she wasn't going to let him know that she had been thinking of him all through the night and that he was the reason she could barely sleep last night and also why she was so excited about getting up from the bed this morning. Kayla scanned the car park with her eyes immediately Mitchel dropped her off and drove away. She couldn't see Lucas's car. Maybe he wasn't in school yet. After all, she was early. He'll probably drive in any moment from now, Kayla thought as she strolled towards the school building. It wasn't like she wanted him to catch her just standing there in the car park waiting for him. She saw Charlotte coming from a distance as she was about to enter the building. Sh
Kayla had hoped that she would go to him and just say a friendly hi but then he rushed out immediately after the class. If Kayla did not know any better, she would have said that he was avoiding her. But why would he be avoiding her? It wasn't like she had done anything to him. They had ended their last encounter on a smiling note. Kayla walked to her next class and luckily Lucas was not in this class so she was able to concentrate better. She was looking forward to her next class which she was going to be having with Charlotte. After the class ended, Natalie moved to her next class. Her last class had run a bit late and so she was amongst the last people to enter the class. She sighted Charlotte immediately talking with a girl. Her bubbly energy could just not be missed. Charlotte beckoned her over and Kayla walked to where she was sitting and sat in the chair beside her. "How have your classes been?" Charlotte asked her. Up close, Kayla could see that Charlotte had light brown eye
Lucas Lucas had been avoiding Kayla. He was doing it to protect her but he was sure she didn't know that. It hurt him to do what he did because he really did like her. But he didn't want to put her in danger of Derrick. She must think he's an asshole right now. She must be thinking the worst of him. He had seen her in history class. Their eyes had met for a moment and then he had looked away but he didn't miss the look of surprise in her face when he later stole a glance at her. He was crestfallen. He really did like her and it was not fair that he couldn't have her just because she was a human. Lucas clenched his fist angrily as he entered inside his car. It was the close of school and he was preparing to go home. But he didn't drive off. He sat down and locked the door to the car. His car was parked in a way that it was overseeing the entrance of the school. Perhaps if he stayed put, he could catch a glance of Kayla before she leaves for home. It wasn't like he could offer her
Kayla Kayla was happy again. Even her mother noticed when she came to pick her up. "I take it that you're beginning to really like this school" Mitchel said "You could say that" Kayla said, smiling "I'm glad," Mitchel said and gave her a smile. It was all because of Lucas. Kayla's day was dampened when he suddenly started to ignore her but he had finally spoken to her. She couldn't be happier. She was beginning to think that he was a real asshole. But it turned out that he was not. She remembered how she felt standing so close to him today. All the hairs on her body seemed to stand on end and she could literally feel the current flowing between them. She really wanted to kiss him too and she could tell that he felt the same with the way he kept looking at her lips like he was about to eat her up. She had called him out on it and she smiled at how uncomfortable her question had made him. It was like there was something pulling her to him as she stared at him. And his eyes, oh
LucasLucas had a feeling that Kayla was beginning to get suspicious of him. Sometimes even, he couldn't help but feel that she was a little afraid of him. He didn't want that. He would never hurt her. If it were up to him, he would let her know that he was a werewolf and that she was his mate. Sure, she was going to freak out and probably become even more afraid of him but the feeling would eventually pass and she would understand what it all meant. It wasn't easy for him keeping such a heavy secret from her but he needed to protect her from harm. He was still incensed that Derrick pulled the stunt that he did. It was a shame that they both couldn't have a fight to the death. He had to find a way to stop Derrick though, whatever it takes. He found himself thinking of some grand gesture to make things up to Kayla. And then he started to fantasize about her. He imagined the both of them together; their bodies intertwined, kissing and having sex. After the close of school, Lucas waited
KaylaDuring lunch, Kayla sat at her regular table and waited for Lucas. He had confessed to her that his brother was the one that placed the phone in her bag and also called to threaten her. She wanted reasons why he would do that. She wanted to know if he was going to be a problem for them. Lucas had not even officially introduced then yet and this was a really disheartening way for her to get to know him. She already knew from the moment she saw Derrick that he might be a problem to her. One thing she is certain of was that she did not like him. Kayla was sitting at the table when she saw Derrick walk past. She had never seen him in the cafeteria before. He was dressed in all black and looked as sinister as a demon. Their eyes met for a moment and Kayla saw a sly smile across his face. A cold ran through her spine. She picked up her phone to text Lucas. He was running late for lunch. "Hey" she said but before she could click 'send' she saw him coming towards her. She glanced
LucasLucas could not believe the guts of Derrick to do something like that to Kayla. They were even supposed to keep their identity a secret but for Derrick to use such a metaphor for Kayla was him almost revealing their identity to her. He was so angry that he felt like his wolf was going to burst out of him. A part of him worried too. The only humans that Derrick had ever revealed his identity to were humans that he ended up killing. He was an asshole but he wasn't stupid. What if he was planning to kill Kayla? It was either that or he was seriously messing with him. 'you should just kill him' his wolf told him and growled inside of him. But Lucas knew he could not just kill Derrick in cold blood even though he wished he could, he was not a killer but yet he would do anything it takes to keep Kayla safe. What was he going to do to get Derrick to leave Kayla alone. He had already breached their agreement and broken his promise. He could no longer take his nonsense, he thought as
Kayla Kayla's mom, Mitchel was still up when she got home even though it had gotten very late. She was already one hour past her and she still could not fathom how the time moved so fast. It always seemed as if time was standing still whenever she was with Lucas. Mitchel let her into the house and Kayla walked in. "You're late" Mitchel said to her "I'm sorry" Kayla said. She knew her mom was not going to ground her for being late. They've been more than liberal with her since they came to Hill City. Just then, she saw her dad come down the stairs. 'Hey dad" Kayla said "You can't be staying out this late, honey. It's not safe" her father said "Lucas literally just dropped me off at the front of the house" Kayla said "Well, I'll have to meet this Lucas if you're ever going to go out with him again" Mac said with a tone of finality Kayla sighed and walked up the stairs and to her room. Of course she should have expected that her parents were not going to be happy with her for
Suddenly there was a knock on the door which made the both of them jump. The door creaked open but no one entered. Lucas was still on top of Kayla completely naked with his skin moist and sweaty.Everywhere was so quiet that they could each hear each other breathing. "I'll go check" Lucas said as he climbed down from on top of Kayla. Kayla wrapped the duvet around herself as Lucas quickly put on his boxers and walked to the door. The room was a bit dark and so he turned on the light on his way. He got to the door and pushed it open a little. Then he peeped outside and turned his neck this way and that. Then his head came back I side. "I can't find anyone" he said to Kayla as he climbed back into the bed with her. "Weird" Kayla said but she couldn't help but wonder if it had been Lucas's strange brother Derrick"Are you okay?" Lucas asked her as he peered into her face. "Yes" she said"It was probably just one of the other kids looking for a room to hook-up in" Lucas said and gigg
Lucas saw Derrick at the party just as he was about to make out with Kayla. He was shocked and taken aback when he saw him even though he knew that he was going to be at the party. He couldn't stop thinking that Kayla was in immediate danger. He had put her in danger by bringing her to the party even though he was aware that Derrick will be attending as well. Derrick kept following them around too which weirded Kayla out. When she asked him about Derrick, he simply told her he was an asshole. Better than telling her that he was trying to kill her.The jacket he had taken came in handy when he noticed that Kayla was cold. After covering her with the jacket, he offered to take her upstairs to make her warm. He wore a naughty smile on his face as he told her and with the smile she gave him, he knew she was all in for it. He held her hand and they walked up the stairs. Lucas had come to this place a lot of times before now and so he knew that there were a lot of rooms upstairs for use.
When Kayla and Lucas got to the party, Lucas parked in the parking lot. Kayla looked around at all the fancy cars parked around them. Kayla could see that this was not a party for the low class. Lucas went over to the other side of the car and opened the door for her. Kayla walked out and he put his hand around her waist as they both began to walk in. From outside, everywhere looked quiet and controlled but inside was a ruckus. The moment they got to the door and the bouncer opened the door for them Kayla could see that the party was going on in full force. Lucas had not told her who was throwing the party or exactly what it was for and she didn't think it was important to ask. Lucas shook hands with a few guys as they navigated the crowd to move forward. A band was playing a popular song and Kayla could see some of the boys and girls moving their bodies to the beat of the music. Lucas said something to her but she could not hear him because if the noise "What did you say?" Sh
KaylaKayla heard Lucas pull up at the front of her house and she felt her heart beat increase. It had taken her over an hour to get dressed and yet she still felt that she wasn't quite ready. She wanted to look at herself in the mirror one last time. She wanted to check her dress. But she had run out of time and she didn't want to keep Lucas waiting."You look beautiful," her mother told her as she was about to leave. She stroked her hair gently "be careful and don't stay out too late" she added.Natalie gave Mitchel a smile. They were both alone in the house and standing in the living room.Kayla heard a knock on her door. "He's here" she whispered nervously to her mother"I'll get the door, '' Mitchel said and started walking towards the door before Kayla could stop her. Kayla walked behind her to the door.Mitchel opened the door and Natalie heard her take a swish sound of breath. She knew that she was surprised at how handsome Lucas was. He was more handsome than any guy Kayla
After Lucas and Kayla collected their food from the cafeteria, they both sat to eat. Kayla ate her food and when he didn't touch his, she asked why. He simply told her that he was full. He watched Kayla as she ate but he could see her beginning to squirm under his gaze. She mentioned that she felt a little uncomfortable eating under his gaze. Lucas told her that he liked to watch her eat but when she stared at him obviously waiting for him to do as she wanted, he looked away from her and picked up his phone. After she finished eating, he offered his burger to her but she claimed that she was full. He has taken the burger because of her. He didn't want to eat just yet because he knew there was going to be a full moon tonight and he was going to feast until he was dizzy with food. The expectation of the feast that awaits him tonight was enough to quench his appetite for a regular burger. And that was why he offered Kayla his burger. When she said that she was full, he told her to sa
