The voice rang like a great bell, followed by a blast of immense power. It came forth like an endless hunger, wanting to devour all before it. “Enough!” came the voice again, this time its origin made clear. A figure appeared before Zephyr, as if out of thin air, his movements were as fast as lightning. He wore fine clothes which complimented his sturdy figure. The man was no more than 30, yet his aura exuded superiority. He was no ordinary combatant. His eyes carried great surprise and disgust. Upon resting his gaze on Zephyr, it quickly changed, it was as though he looked upon an insignificant insect, his pride was gleaming. It was Lincoln, the Khan’s personal medicine man, the most hated man in Zephyr’s life, past and present. Lincoln emitted an intimidating aura, one which surrounded not only his body, but the air around him. He was a powerful combatant without a doubt. Zephyr noticed that Lincoln had yet to enter the Agility level; he was still a Strength of level nine, an inc
A loud crack echoed throughout the courtyard, Zephyr had sent forth his fist to defend himself. Lincoln’s palm shattered, sending a stunning array of colors cascading across the sky. The punch did not stop there; however, it found its way to Lincoln’s actual palm with a sickening crunch, followed by screams of agony. Lincoln could not help but stare at his now broken arm, being helplessly flopped down next to him. Seeing this, Lincoln let out another shrill of cry. However, Zephyr did not stop, he grabbed Lincoln’s wrist and sent him tumbling into the air. Zephyr was already powerful, but his anger over Leah’s well-being sent him into a berserker rage. Zephyr grabbed a hold of Lincoln, before pulling him down, back onto the ground, face first, each connection rang throughout the courtyard as the ground cracked under Lincoln’s jaw. Lincoln could only stare helplessly as he allowed Zephyr to manhandle him, never had he thought Zephyr could overpower him like that. However, these though
“M-master?” Suddenly, a gentle voice rang out behind Zephyr. In that moment, the anger that filled Zephyr’s face dissipated almost immediately, he quickly turned his head to meet the voice. There, he saw Leah, tears in her eyes, rushing out to greet him. Her eyes were puffy, her cheeks were tear stained, she was shaken. Zephyr felt relieved to see her clothes untouched, Lincoln had not touched her. “Leah!”Zephyr called out to her, not before he kicked Lincoln away. He embraced Leah tightly, unwilling to part ever again. “Leah, how are you?” Zephyr asked, seeing Leah’s worried look on her face. “I’m… I’m fine, master, you’re… fine! That’s great!” she replied happily, relieved. Seeing Zephyr, Leah felt more concerned over him than herself. Zephyr, who realized this, could not help but ache a little inside. “Quick! Get this traitorous B*stard out of my sight! If he fights back, kill him,” Mist ordered, his voice filled with anger. Mist could only feel anger upon seeing Lincoln’s bat
“I am here now, to protect my godson, Zephyr!“My brother, Zenith, had disappeared without a trace. His son would undoubtedly be in my charge after all.” Bruce said. “I thought I could spare some of my free time for a quick visit, who would’ve thought I’d see this!”Finishing his words, Bruce’s voice took a sour turn, his expression now cold and unforgiving. “Zenith is the rightful patriarch to the Khan, by right, Zephyr should be the rightful heir, yet this is how you treat him?” he continued, “Mist Khan, Zenith Khan is your own flesh and blood, how could you do this to Zephyr? To him?” Bruce’s voice grew spiteful with each word. “My Lord, this is a familial matter, even though you are our mayor, you have no reason to interfere,” Mist replied, his expression was hard to read. “No reason? Mist Khan, I have all the reasons to intervene today!” Bruce commanded, “Zephyr, come with me. Let’s see who dares stop you!” Zephyr trusted Bruce fully, he felt no ill-will nor ulterior motives f
Zephyr finally asked something he had been keeping for a long time. In his previous life, Zephyr had investigated news of his father, yet nothing came up. Much like ash and embers being put out mid-flight, Zenith disappeared without a trace. “I’m not sure, I don’t know much. When Zenith disappeared, I was away, that didn’t help. However, if my suspicions are correct, it must have something to do with your mother!” said Bruce. “My mother?!” Zephyr said, with a frown. His mother’s circumstances were more mysterious than his father’s. Regardless of either lives, Zephyr knew little of his mother. He had never seen his mother, even when he was young. “Hmm… your mother’s identity is indeed mysterious, even I've never met her before,” Bruce replied. “But what I can tell you is this, your mother was a powerful woman, her history was unbelievably powerful. She wasn’t your ordinary lady…” he continued, after a brief pause for thought. As the two chatted, Mist resided back in the Khan househo
For a clan to reach a Status, it would definitely elevate them above the rest. Only those with histories that spanned thousands of generations would have this Status. Under normal circumstances, for one to reach a status level, they would have to enroll into an academy. Therefore, Mist was baffled. “Although the technique he used was common, it had an eerie mystical effect, and it paralyzed me!” Puck said, and let out a shiver at the thought of Zephyr’s punishment. “Impossible. No one in Starlight City has achieved a Status, how could Zephyr achieve that?” Mist sighed, shaking his head. If Zephyr could hear their conversation, he would have laughed at how pathetic they sounded. After all, his Earthquake Fist was never a sought after move, but with the augmentation from his Focus, it was not to be underestimated. Whether it had helped Zephyr reach a Status, was still debatable. “Quick! Find out what’s going on! The absence of evidence does not equal the evidence of absence! We must
“Looks like I’ll have to look for a new way to train!” Zephyr sighed. He put out his right arm, “Come!” With that, a white light flashed across the sky, then landed in Zephyr’s hand. His sword filled with Focus, and vibrated in his hand. He gripped it tightly before he sent an arcing slash towards the waterfall. “Seven Slash – Fifth Slash!” A wave of shimmering light cascaded its way towards the waterfall, fragmenting once before merging back together to form an energy spiral. The flow of the waterfall yielded to the spiral, and somehow started to flow backwards. Seeing this, Zephyr did not stop, once again, summoned his true energy. “Sixth Slash!” Here, his sword had manifested itself beyond its original length, it’s draw now 300ft in length, solidifying into a great sword. Zephyr sent it against the waterfall, effectively cutting it in half. A loud cracking and crumbling ensued, and the once great waterfall was seen split down the middle into two streams. It did not stop there howe
Lewis was not stupid. Although Zephyr had only given him a measly spirit pill, he felt how much more powerful it was than the usual pills dispensed by the Khan. Besides, Zephyr had given him ten of them, it was a very generous gift. Lewis could only guess as to how Zephyr got his hands on them; Zephyr had his own personal medicine man! Medicine men were well respected throughout the land, this can be seen in how Lincoln was treated by the Khan. The medicine men can be categorized into nine levels: from a one starred healer to a nine starred wizard, the quality of their pills followed the same ranking. There were not many medicine men around, in the whole of Starlight, only two have been seen. Lincoln was only a medicine man of the lowest tier, yet he was paraded around Khan grounds like royalty. It was frightening to think about the prowess the medicine man behind Zephyr had. This guess had further strengthened Lewis’ resolve to follow Zephyr. However, the truth was, Zephyr himself w
