(Doris’ Pov)

Even after all that Garrison and other warriors had said and agreed on, Christopher looked and remained unconvinced. He shook his head and looked at me.

"Don't expect me to believe all that. I refuse to believe what you all are saying here. You may be the elder but who appointed you? The first elder? Even if you were appointed by him, I believe that he is not qualified to do that. The only person who is able and qualified to nominate an elder is the werewolf king here, and I'm sure that he did not do so. So don't expect me to address you as one." He scowled.

I tried to cage in the fury that was fueling inside of me as Christopher uttered those words, but I just couldn't hold it any longer. I couldn't stand just the way he talked to me and his ignorance as a whole.

"I think you need to shut up at this point." I hesitated no longer and roughly grabbed his shoulders. Pulling him close, I punched him hard, twice on his jaw and down to his stomach, also leaving my clenched fis

(Doris' Pov)The first elder stopped talking and stared at the werewolf king who stood silently and unconvinced with all that the first elder had said. He kept looking at me in some kind of way that was saying I didn't fit into all that the first elder had said about me. He sneered and wanted to break his silence but the first elder beat him to talking like he could see that Jonas did not was not fully convinced."And all these she had done, she did them as sacrifices and service to the werewolf kingdom. Without her, the werewolf kingdom wouldn't stand strong or come out victorious in any war, most especially with the vampires. This kingdom has suffered enough losses when she was gone, and we can't afford to lose her now to something not important when there is a brewing war to be fought. So to wrap up all that I have just said, Doris is of great importance to the werewolf kingdom and neither she nor her warriors should be put in jail." He nodded his head and took a step back.Jonas l

(Doris' Pov)"Take her away." The werewolf king ordered three of the other warriors that were present there. They quickly glanced at him grudgingly, fast enough for them not to be caught, and walked as slowly as possible in my direction. The first elder looked at Jonas, clearly annoyed, and shook his head. "You have no idea of what you are doing and you are going to regret this before you know it. I'll be waiting to see when that happens, but don't say that you were not forewarned about this." He sighed.Jonas smiled awkwardly at him. "Sorry to disappoint you Elder, but I don't think I would. I think I have made a good decision that will benefit the werewolf kingdom and the vampire kingdom." He grinned widely in a weird way.The first elder shook his head and quickly averted his gaze away from Jonas."And oh," Jonas called out to him, making him turn back his gaze furiously. "I don't think so because I've heard about the battle between the 100 warriors and the vampire elites which wil

(Xavier's Pov)It was already up to a few days since Doris was locked up in jail. The news and reason for her arrest have been spread like wildfire all around the werewolf kingdom. Everyone had heard about the killing of the warriors and the vampires and there were so many opinions and reactions to the king's decision to invite the vampires over as his guests and lock up Doris. But the majority, if not all, were outraged with the news of the vampires killing the warriors of the Reapers. They were outraged when the news was passed across to the whole of the werewolf kingdom, although some of them tended to calm down when they heard that Doris retaliated and killed the vampires that had done it.It was clear that everyone was pissed and disappointed with Jonas who seemed not to be bothered about the death of his warriors, but that of the vampires who had killed his warriors. Many had hurled insults at him saying how much of a fool and coward he was and also criticised him saying that he

(First Elder's Pov)It took everything in me not to strangle Jonas at this moment. The more he spoke the more I badly wanted to carry out my actions. I was furious and frustrated as he kept on speaking like he was under a spell or something. I couldn't help but ask myself if this man standing in front of this angry crowd was the one who led them, I mean, was their king. Because what was displayed here, at this moment cannot be termed as a feature of a king.It was quite obvious that I was not the only one who couldn't stand Jonas and his words any longer. The crowd was very much expressive with their disapproval of Jonas, unlike the elders. But after he had made his last statement, the elders and the leaders of the other Iron Claw armies began to voice out their disagreement with him. They couldn't stand listening to him anymore, same went with me."With all due respect to Your Majesty, you can't keep speaking like we are too small for war. We have gone to countless wars and come back

(First Elder's Pov)Jonas kept on talking and continued to downgrade Doris's importance to the werewolf kingdom, totally not bothered about the strong disappointment and disapproval from the werewolves. He kept on talking like their views didn't matter at all and that all he was saying was the only true thing.I was just too stunned to even utter any more words to him with the way he went about all these. He ignorantly and disdainfully insulted the importance of Doris, like her sacrifices to the werewolf kingdom meant nothing at all, while blaming her for putting a stop to a friendship relationship that never existed between the vampires and the werewolves. It was safe to call Jonas a coward at this point. As the words came out from the king's mouth, everyone looked at him in disbelief like they didn't expect their king to act in such a manner and make such statements. Many looked at him suspiciously with the way he talked down on his own to please the enemies of the werewolf kingdom,

(First Elder's Pov)The werewolves kept on expressing their regret for having Jonas as their king, while the said king paid no attention at all. He was still trying to please his so-called guests who had approached him with rage. I remained in my position, waiting to see the next line of action when Doris would be here.Loud and soft voices filled the room, with everyone in their area of concern. It died down when the people who were sent to bring Doris came back to the Palace. They stepped into the palace and everyone, eager to see Doris whom they were sent to get, turned their attention to them immediately. It turned out that they had no Doris with them. They wore moody faces as they walked in. Everyone stared in confusion, wondering what could have happened and why Doris was not with them. A lot of reasons began to rub through my mind regarding what might make Doris not come with them.Knowing the kind of person Doris was, I suggested that she was the one who had sent them back her

(Doris' Pov)"Arghhhhhhh! Ughhhh!" The warriors groaned trying to resist the pain."Just a few more minutes left, you can do this. You are brave and strong warriors. Yes! Take it in." I tried to encourage them.Still at the prison, I decided it was time I carried out my training in preparation for the battle against Andrew and his vampires. I had called and informed my warriors, the Reapers, and those who joined the 100 warriors to come to the prison well-prepared and with a strong mind due to the kind of training they would be receiving. It was not just the normal training but a more special one.At the moment, they were all soaked in sweat and were being bathed with magical blue light that came out of my sceptre. I had ordered Mark to bring my sceptre to the prison, to enhance the training I had wanted to give all the warriors with me.After the news of the 100 warriors came out and that I was to train them, many came out to be chosen and many were recommended. But after hearing tha

(Doris' Pov)"Can you even hear yourself right now?" I asked with a disgusting face.Jonas was getting on my nerves with the way he behaved and spoke in general. I wouldn't even blame anyone who may find his behavior suspicious as he was speaking like a puppet that was being controlled. If I had not been a werewolf, I would find it hard to believe that this man standing right in front of me was the werewolf king. He was not even worthy to be called a king because he was just a king who acted like a slave. How would a king not care about the safety and survival of his people but that of the enemies? How would a king boldly and proudly tell the warriors of his kingdom that they don't have what it takes to defeat the enemies, all because he wants to have a friendship relationship with them? There is no way a sensible king will choose to walk up to his warriors and talk down on them just because he wants to be on the good side of the common enemy. And Jonas happened to be such a king. The

The day was fast spent, yet I was just waking up.I stretched my hand to the other side of the bed with my eyes still sleepy and half opened, but couldn't feel Xavier. I quickly opened my eyes and realized he wasn't on the bed with me and sat up.Suddenly, the door opened, gasping my attention. And there he was, holding a tray of meal, approaching the bed.“Good morning, sunshine.” He said in a sing-song tone, placed the tray on the bed and kissed me on the forehead.“Good morning to you too. What a pleasant surprise,” I smiled and sniffed in the aroma of the meal.I shut my eyes slightly for a minute and was mesmerized by it.“This better be nice.” I said and proceeded to take a bite.“How is it?” He asked when I chewed halfway, but my face turned into a frown and glared coldly at him.“Did you make this yourself?”“Yes, why? What's wrong?” He queried in a low tone, his eyes darting from the meal back to me.“It's amazing!” I

I waved at the Reapers to let him go while I laughed to my heart's content.“I'm sorry I couldn't meet you at the borderline.” Xavier turned to me and said after Barron left.“It's fine, I know you also have duties to attend to.” A smile spread on my face.“We would take our leave then.” One of the elders said, and they exited the room.“We should go home too,” I said to Xavier with my arms wrapped around his neck.He gently placed his hand on my waist and responded, “Sure.”I turned to the Reapers, who were still waiting for my instruction.“You all should rest, too. We all deserve it.” I said, my voice filled with pride of how we fou

This is a position I'm not worthy of.“Give the throne to Barron.......” I started, and all eyes fell on me, surprised. “I'm not worthy of the throne. Barron should be the 9ne to sit on it, not me.” I said, with my gaze lowered to the floor.“Good thing you know your place.” Barron snapped at me and I plucked up my chin to look at him.Seeing the hatred he had for me broke me heart more.“That won't be possible, Xavier. (Xavier's POV)Barron and I sat in the conference room, waiting for the elders. They had set up the meeting for us, to pick a new King.My heart pounded faster in my mind, thinking about everything. I wondered what kind of King I would become if I got chosen, and also how I would feel if I didn't get chosen. They were running late, but I understood the Pack was going through a rough time at the moment, which could be the cause. Barron kept glaring at me through the corner of his eyes, he had always hated.Maybe because I was an illegitimate son, but I won't be too bothered if I were him. That alone was a great disadvantage for me.After some more minutes of waiting, the door opened and the elders walked in one after the other. We both rose to our feet and bowed to greet them.“You may both have your seat,” the leader of the elders said after they had all settled down.“Thanks,” I mumbled and sat down.“I'm sure you both know the purpose of this meeting.” He started.“Can we then get t

(Doris' POV)My eyes welled for a reason I couldn't tell; whether about the King's death or the First Elder's death, I just couldn't place it.The First Elder must have blamed the King too for the death of Snake and killed me, while I trusted him with the King to be in safe hands. I wanted to come back to the Pack victorious and settle all grudges, but now, they are both dead.Case closed!Murmurs among the elders filled the air, I excused myself from them and exited the Palace. In front of the Palace, there stood the Reapers, some warriors, the two warriors who carried the First Elder's body and some curious Pack members who shot cold glares at me as I stepped out. They were scared to speak, but I could almost read their minds through their faces, it was so sad and bitter. I know they wanted to question me about the First Elder, but none of them dare say a word.“Carry the body, let's go.” I said to the warriors and turned to leave when a female voice stopped me.“The King?” She aske

(Doris' POV)“You should have never done it. All Snake had was you.”“And he was a sacrifice meant to be made, how could I not do it?” His voice dropped to almost a whisper, remorse crept in.My face softened and I halted, watching his moves. Who can tell, it might be another one of his numerous tricks to get new off my guard.“You have done too much evil already, why would you want me dead too?”“You have the guts to ask me that? Snake died because he was your follower, what more would bring me joy than your corpse?” He snapped, enraged and ready to strike again. He's right about that, Snake might still be alive if he wasn't serving me. Maybe some of them really died because of me, and it's all my fault, but I won't let them die in vain. I'll seek the justice that their souls deserve.I eased myself from the defense stance and looked at the First Elder. Even with being a Divine Wolf, he's still a piece of cake to me.And though I wanted justice for all he had harmed, a part of me sti

Why did you make me trust so much in you and turned out to be the evil I was up against?” I asked in a hushed tone, almost couldn't believe he could do such a thing to me.I had always seen him as a noble and honest man who wanted justice for those the King had wrong. Only God knows how many crimes he had committed that I knew nothing about.“I'm sorry, please forgive me.” He said out loud, bowing his head again.I beat my feet on the ground, filled with rage for the nonchalant apologies he was tendering. None of his apologies would bring back those who had died.None of his

We all can.” My arms spread out, referring to my warriors and the Reapers. His face went red with anger.“How dare you?” He cussed and turned to one of his men. “Where the heck is Reya?” He asked, whispering.“There would be no need for that,” I butted in abruptly, and he looked at me with his left brow raised at my remark. “She would be food for the earth in no time.” I concluded and smirked. He unde

It's been days after she left, and I couldn't help it but miss her like hell, I would give anything to hold her in my arm sooner.I know the battle would be fierce, but I hope she would be rest assured that her family would be safe with me.Felix, Doris brother, walked to the front of the house and sat beside me on the swing chair.“What are you doing out here? You should be inside, resting.” I said to him, and let glared coldly at me for a few seconds. Why would he do that when all I've done since Doris left was to make them comfortable? Perhaps I had done something I had no idea about.“Did I do something wrong? What's up with the glare?” I asked in a shushed tone, my heart pounding faster.“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that.” He briskly apologized, bowing his head.“It's fine, it's nothing to be apologetic about.”My lips curled with a smile and my heart was proud of what I've done.On several occasion
