"Let's go," Emilia said running her hands down her dress. The elegant ball gown had multiple layers of rich blue tulle with a fitted bodice and a sheer neckline that delicately draped over her shoulders. The layered tulle skirt had tiered ruffles, each layer dusted with fine glitter and subtle embellishments that added sparkle to it. She'd felt like a princess until Mrs. Richardson reminded her who she was. Despite being draped in the most expensive diamonds, that old bitch still found a way to make her feel inferior.

"Are you sure?" Max asked, taking her elbow and turning her to face him. The worry in his gaze eased her nerves. "You don't have to go back there. I can ask everyone to leave"
