CHAPTER SIX

Debra’s Pov

It's getting dark and I m sure Dad has already sent his packs to find me. If only I could get away from here before dawn.

Hunger is not a problem for me but my legs are not helping either. I m scared and by myself. No one would possibly help me, would they?

My whole body was getting sweaty and my breathing could be heard from few meters. I was trying hard not to let anyone listen to it.

Werewolves are absolutely sensible to sounds and smell. I don’t want any wolf's attention. Not when I m running away.

What’s that? I can hear steps approaching towards me. I got alarmed and tried to hide behind the tree. Who the fuck is roaming outside here at this hour?

Is it my Dad? Hell, I m gonna die today. I need to rush before he punishes and ground me again. I slowly peeked from a tree and saw no one.

Who the hell is playing with me? I m literally angry with whoever was fooling around with me. My claws start to expose when someone from behind…….

“Hello Miss, Is that you?” Strange but I m familiar with this voice. His voice was slightly hoarse, gravelly calm but exceptionally attractive.

I can feel that he was not from the pack however I can’t say if he won’t harm me and put me back in my packs.

As I turned back, my heart paused for a moment. I couldn’t help myself staring at him and wondering who is he?

His snow-white skin, sky blue eyes, thick and well-suited eyebrows, sharp long nose and not to mention his captivating lips.

He was almost 6ft tall and his body was brawny with well-defined muscles and arms.

In other words, I have never seen someone like in Blackwood before.

“Are you alright? Can you hear me?” he was repeatedly asking me the same questions while I was busy staring at him.

“I …. I ……I am good. And probably can hear you too. I m not deaf.” I managed to calm myself before he gets the wrong idea.

“Thank God. I found you. I am extremely grateful to you miss.” he replied and I can see how excited he was while he was speaking.

“Do you know me? Nonononono….. how did you know me? Did my Dad send you? Don’t tell me you are gonna take me back home?” I panicked as soon as he said he found me.

“Look gentleman, I m not gonna go back, no matter what happens I m not gonna return any more. If you are here to catch me, trust me I m gonna kill myself. Yes and are you even from the wolf?” I can’t stop myself from questioning him.

I was continuously throwing the arrows of questions to him but he was kinda confused and looked worried.

His eyes seemed surprised with all the questions and suddenly I can feel something warm and soft touch on my hands. Felt like some electric energy went across my hands.

“Please! please! Calm down. I m not what you think. Please let me speak first. Let me explain to you everything plus I do know you.” He tried to calm me with soft hands covering mine.

I can’t say no now, not after his hands is upon mine and providing me a different sort of energy which I never felt. “Ooo…okay. Go on.” My words were shivering along with my loud heartbeat.

“Okayyyyy…..Let me first introduce myself. Hi, I m Karien Watson. You can call me just Karien.” His lips finally exposed his name.

Karien, no wonder his name is alluring as him. I find myself repeating his name again and again. “ Karien, Karien. Karien.”

“Yes, you are right Karien, and just a single one, Karien. You don’t have to repeat it.”

He replied leaving me in complete embarrassment.

My face turned red as his words pricked me like a thorn. He shouldn’t have said that. That was absolute humiliation.

“I m sorry if I offended you but are you ok?” how dare he say that after making fool of myself.

“No, not at all. I m totally fine. Don’t worry about me. Worry about yourself. What the hell are you doing here in the middle of the night?” gathering my pride and courage, I questioned him back.

“And also you don’t look like one of the werewolves. How are you even surviving in Blackwood? Do you even know you can be torn down in pieces if anyone finds you here?” I asked him.

“I know at least for now but I swear I was not aware that werewolves were real. Look I never intended to be here. Let me start from the beginning. I m not a werewolf and I m not here to catch you. I m a human.” Did he just say human?

“Did you just say you are a human?” I glared at him as I asked him.

“yes I m . what else would I be? And why are you staring at me like I m a criminal?” he was nervous with my stares. Good.

“Don’t lie to me, say you are a vampire.” I stepped a little closer to him and gave him an evil stare.

“What? A Vampire.” He laughed out loud after I mentioned the word Vampire. “Are you kidding me? Trust me I m enough with these werewolves already, don’t tell me there are vampires too.”

His face is completely worn out as soon as I nod my head as yes to this question. He freaked out and got down to my knee.

“Please save me, you have saved me before and I know you can save me again.” Is he talking about me?

I had no idea what the heck was he talking about. All I had on my mind was when did I saved him and why. And how can such a strong personality act so weakly?

“You saved me this morning, don’t you remember? Your …what you say … oh yes packs or whatsoever chased me today and you saved my life though you saw me.”

Damn. I can’t believe I have forgotten such a dramatic moment I had today. I know I had a hectic day but wasn’t expecting you to be such a forgetful, Debra.

“Ooops. Sorry. I had quite a frantic day today. I don’t know when it got out of my mind but how can I identify you while I didn’t saw your face. All I saw was you back.” Now I find myself out of my Daddy’s danger zone.

“I know it's hard to believe but you did save me today and do you remember …….the wall, the main gate, your uncle Thomas, or should I say stupid and ugly Uncle Thomas.”

What a small world it is? Was he the same person I saved and got saved? How can I entangle with the same person two times a day? Moreover, I have never seen or meet him.

And now I know why his voice was familiar to me. I m sure I heard his voice at the main gate and what I found more suspicious right now is Uncle Thomas.

How did he know about Uncle Thomas if he is human and he is here for the first time? I can presume he is suspicious and he needs to be interrogated more.

“I m convinced that I saved you and you saved me but tell me how did you know Uncle Thomas if you are not one of our kind? And don’t you dare lie to me.” I know I m kind but not a fool.

He lost in thoughts for a second. He kinda was nervous and was having trouble answering my questions.

“Are you sure you don’t know about Blackwood and werewolves? If you are lying I will make sure you are not leaving this place alive as I will rip you apart and feed your body to wild animals.” I sure was quite rude this time.

“No please don’t do that. I m not lying. It just I saw your Uncle Thomas before in the forest with some lady and I m sure they were talking about you. I m afraid it may disappoint you if I let you know what they were talking about you.”

I felt like my head got a stroke by something hard and it hit me so badly. I know my Uncle was loyal to my Dad and hated me for being indifferent towards the pack but…….

“Just tell me what did he said about me? You don’t need to care whether I get hurt or not. It's none of your business.” I took a long breath and look straight into his innocent blue eyes,

He sighed as he begins to say, “I don’t know if you will be ok but I don’t think Uncle Thomas is a good guy. You must have never imagined how fraud and betrayer he is to your kind.”

“Cut the crap and come to the point. I don’t have time for your useless talks.” I can no longer wait for his riddled words. I had to know the facts.

“He is planning something bigger and hellish. He is planning to kill your Dad and your whole family. And do you know why he is planning all this?” he looked at me and questioned me with his eyes.

And I exactly know why he planned to kill my family, “ Of course, to be the great Alpha and replace my Dad.”

“Yes, you are right on the point. Do you now believe me I m not lying? If I m not wrong you are Debra.” He said.

“How did you know my name?” he continued to surprise me again and again.

“ I heard from other packs when they caught you today. That’s how I got to know Thomas was your uncle and also the reason for insulting him.” His answer was convincing but I was not convinced yet.

“I don’t think what you say is enough for me to believe you. You still have one more to answer.” I crossed my arms and grab his check shirt tightly. “ How did you know I need help while I was in the main gate?”

“Don’t take it on the wrong way but I followed you after I got caught out there. I was worried about you and I was grateful to you for helping me so I followed you.

I was in front of the main gate the whole time and I saw you hiding behind the bushes. You may feel I m creating my own imaginary story but I did what I had to. I don’t need to explain anymore.” He replied in his hoarse voice.

I had no idea but I believed his words and nod my head, “ Fine I believe you but if I ever know you lied to me, you know the consequences.” I patted his arms.

And I looked at the sky, the dark sky was fading away with the glimpse of light slowly. Shit! Shit! I almost forgot that I was in escaping from the Blackwood mission.

“I know you are not to blame but I m running out of time which means I can’t sit here and talk with you. I need to get out of here before anyone finds me.

 If you are coming with me, it's fine but if you are planning to stay here forever, I m leaving now.” I set myself and waited for his answer.

“No way I m staying here. But what about your uncle? Are you gonna leave him free and let your family get killed?” he was concerned about my family and so was I.

“I know but I also know they will not believe my words and no wonder they will believe a word from a stranger like you. We can’t just say a word about them without evidence.”I said what I had to.

“Wait, I m going with you, and trust me you will thank me for keeping you company.” With his sexy hoarse voice and his way of smirking can’t help but let him in.

He was human and he would never be able to match my speed. So I walked fast as I can. However, he grabbed my hand from back all of sudden.

My heart went cold all of sudden, skipping few beats and making my heart race so fast. I surprisingly turned to him and stared at him as I hated his touch.

But God knows how much his touch made turbulence to my heart and soul. I am not sure why I feeling like that and on another hand, I didn’t detest his touch instead felt warm and comfortable.

“I m extremely sorry but I don’t mean to scare you. And I don’t think we will get out of here if we go through this way and speed.” He dares to say that while I m concerned about him as a human.

“Well. Well ..look who is speaking about way and speed. Hello Sir, let me remind you, you are human and you can never match my speed and what do you know about this place?

If you were not with me I would have gone far away by now.” I replied.

“I won’t say you are wrong but I know the shortcut and it's safe too. I m new here but I came here from that way and I can never be mistaken when it comes to directions.” He was openly showing off his talent.

He had a decent look and he was a gentleman whenever he opens his mouth but I don’t know why I could sense a bad boy vibe inside him.

“Cool, let me see how well Mr direction can lead way out of Blackwood. Remember Karien if I don’t find myself out from here till dawn, you are gone.” I warned him but I had no choice but to trust him.

“Miss Debra, I told you already that you won’t regret my company instead you will thank me later. I guess it's my second time mentioning the same sentence,” he said and gave a smirk again.

I never thought he would be self-centered with his innocent-looking face. If he wasn’t so handsome I would have killed him already and I wouldn’t even hesitate to drink his blood.

He got lucky that he has a handsome face and a perfect body. But for some reason, my heart wanted to follow him. He was the first human I ever saw and I need to be with him if I want to survive in his world, the Human world.

Somehow he now knows about werewolves and vampires' world. He knows too much and not to mention he know me. I have to keep an eye on him and make sure he won’t create any trouble.

And also if he was that bad he would never spill the beans about Uncle Thomas. I know I have so many doubts around my head but I believe I should trust him for now.
